Message from the Chairman

Today we welcome our friends from Seaham Red Star. They are managed by a good friend of ours in Mark Collingwood and we will always be grateful to him and Red Star in the year of our promotion. They found themselves being 3-0 down away to Jarrow Roofing, but they pulled back to 3 goals each, and then, after having their goalkeeper sent off, managed to hold on to a draw playing the whole of the 2nd half with 10 men. Seaham have had an up and down season this year, they are however a good side with lots of potential and we will need to be at our best to get the result we strive for. Looking ahead to our FA Vase game away to West Didsbury & Chorlton next Saturday could anyone wishing to go contact John Richardson at the ground. On the development side things are moving along nicely and we will be talking in detail. With the juniors in the coming weeks. Enjoy today's match See you in the bar. Kenny Beattie Chairman

Dun-stung by Chilton & Novak Morpeth Town 3-0 Dunston UTS

Morpeth Town made it 10 wins out of 11 games by beating a stubborn Dunston UTS side at Craik Park on Wednesday night. Michael Chilton made it six goals in four games by netting twice, with left-back James Novak adding a third in the opening 45 minutes as the Highwaymen closed the gap to league leaders Shildon to just two points, Town having two games in hand. Nick Gray made just the one change from the side that beat Jarrow Roofing 3-1 at the weekend, Keith Graydon returning to the midfield at the expense of Steven Anderson. The visitors were nearly gifted a goal in the opening five minutes, Karl Dryden fumbling a Dale Pearson strike, eventually gathering at the third attempt. Dunston continued to impress in the opening salvos, Alex Francis’ long range effort blocked by the body of a diving Morpeth defender. The opening goal came from a failed Morpeth Town short corner. As Dunston countered, Michael Hall put in a strong challenge on Malcolm Morien which the referee deemed to be fair despite the assistant waving for a foul. In fairness, the referee was closer to the incident. From the challenge Morpeth broke with Lee McAndrew down the left. The winger pulled the ball back to Novak who crossed into the penalty area, Sean Taylor heading the ball off the back of Chilton, the rebound falling kindly for the centre- forward who slotted home for his 11th goal of the season, the visitors protesting profusely at the referee’s decision to overrule her assistant. Morpeth grew in confidence from this point and almost doubled the lead within minutes, Novak’s set piece narrowly over the head of Hall in the six yard box. In the 27th minute Liam Connell was the hero for Dunston, Chilton winning possession deep in the UTS half, playing in Taylor behind the backline, his cross goal effort from the right clawed behind by the strong right hand of the ‘keeper. On the half hour mark Graydon took aim with a speculative 30 yard effort, the strike falling well wide of Connell’s goal. Francis sent an equally ambitious effort even further wide from a 35 yard free-kick at the other end.

Morpeth added their second goal on 34 minutes. Luke Carr’s right wing corner headed by Ben Sayer straight at Connell at the back post, the ‘keeper only able to parry to the near post where Chilton was waiting to tap in his second of the game. It was 3-0 when Craig Hodgson scythed down Carr on the right. James Novak stepped up to take the free-kick 25 yards out, curling a left footed short towards the bottom right hand corner, Connell only able to push the ball into his own net. Dunston reacted well in the remaining minutes of the first half, Steven Richardson stinging the palms of Dryden with a powerful effort, but straight at the Morpeth stopper. The visitors should have pulled a goal back just before the half, Richardson slotting the ball through to Pearson, who prodded an effort wide of the mark as Dryden rushed towards him. Whatever Billy Irwin told his guys at half-time worked, Dunston almost reducing arrears after 15 second half seconds. Substitute Liam Thear finding himself unmarked in the 18-yard box, however, he blazed over when it was easier to hit the target. McAndrew went close to making it 4-0 on the hour mark, a sliding clearance in the penalty area made its way to him on the left wing, McAndrew’s shot deflected twice as it went narrowly wide of the right hand post. The Highwaymen continued to press for more, and nearly added to their lead a few minutes later. McAndrew the architect as his cross found Taylor 15 yards out, the strikers shot blocked on the line by a Dunston defender. The remaining twenty-five minutes saw the home side control possession without really threatening, Dunston trying to find a way back into the game. A tame strike by Pearson from the edge of the area the best opportunity, easily handled by Dryden. There was still time for one more moment of controversy, UTS right-back Michael Pearson adjudged to have fouled McAndrew on halfway in what was an innocuous challenge. The referee stopped play with Morpeth in a good position, speaking to her assistant before brandishing Michael Pearson with a second yellow, giving him his marching orders, a harsh decision. Another three points for Town who continue their stellar start to the season. Next up another difficult challenge against league champions Marske United on Saturday afternoon.

13th/14th October Round-Up (by Ray Simpson) Tuesday Bishop Auckland won their local derby 3-0 at bottom club West Auckland to move further away from the ENL First Division relegation zone. In a hard fought opening to the game there were few chances until the 24th minute, when former West player Adam Nicholls crossed low into the West box, and the ball went into the net off Andy Johnson. Bishops went 2-0 up early in the second half, when Johnson scored from a Jeff Smith corner, and then new signing Harvey Saunders set up David Palmer, who blasted home the third. Shildon came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Whitley Bay Both keepers pulled off good saves before Whitley took the lead on 24 minutes with a header by Liam Hudson. Shildon tried to hit back and hit the post through Kyle Fryatt, and Mattie Robson fired just wide. Shildon kept the pressure going in the second half, and Gary Brown went close with a header. But Shildon were caught at the back again, and Hudson scored his second of the game with another header. However, the Railwaymen managed to break through straight away, when Billy Greulich-Smith scored from close range. They kept up the pressure, and with five minutes left, Whitley defender Josh Day put through his own goal. Newton Aycliffe drew 1-1 with Penrith at Moore Lane. Aycliffe took the lead after 15 minutes, when Ashley Coffey scored with a header from a free kick, but Martyn Coleman levelled for Penrith after he beat two men and fired home. RCA moved up to eighth after beating champions Marske 1-0. The RCA took the lead on 37 minutes when Paul Callen scored with a header from a corner. Marske had a couple of good chances after that, and the closest they came to scoring was when Nathan Mulligan struck the bar with a free kick. Marske keeper Robbie Deane saved a late penalty from Reece Noble. Durham City drew 1-1 with North Shields at New Ferens Park. Shields took the lead with an effort by Dan Wilson on 35 minutes, but then there were two brief delays after the floodlights went out. Durham equalised with two minute left when Aiden Haley scored. In the second division, South Shields went top with a 3-0 win against Billingham Synthonia in front of a 703 crowd. Shields took the lead when Warren Byrne turned quickly and fired into the top corner, the first goal that Synners have conceded in over twelve hours’ play. Michael Turner made it 2-0 on the hour mark, and Lewis Teasdale scored at the second attempt with a few minutes left.

Wednesday

Tonight’s league game between Guisborough and Jarrow Roofing kicked off 30 minutes late – because the match referee forgot that he was in charge. When the referee didn’t appear as kick off approached, Guisborough contacted the official – who apparently lives over 40 miles away – and asked of his whereabouts, but he confessed that he had forgotten about the game. The club then found a local referee who ran the line, while the senior assistant referee took over in the middle. Guisborough won for the first time in four matches. They took the lead when Danny Earl scored with a backheel off a corner, and they went further ahead before half time when Earl ran through and scored with Jarrow appealing for offside. Connor Smith made it 3-0 when he scored from a left wing cross. Morpeth moved two points leaders Shildon with two games in hand when they beat Dunston UTS 3-0. Morpeth took the lead when Sean Taylor nodded the ball down for Micky Chilton to score, and then they scored twice in the space of a few minutes before half time through Chilton and James Novak. Dunston had full back Michael Pearson sent off for two yellows in the second half. Ashington won 3-0 at Newcastle Benfield. Benfield took the lead with a shot by Andy Johnson on 26 minutes, and a few minutes later recent signing Micky Dixon set up Matty Grieve to head in. Ashington went 3-0 up before half time when Ben Harmison split the defence with a through ball for Michael King to score. In the Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup, Brandon striker James Ellis scored a hat trick in his side’s 6-2 home win over Ryton and Crawcrook. Darlington RA won 2-0 at Birtley, with goals by Dean Hedley and Kerry Hedley. Crook beat Thornaby 3-2. Crook took an early lead through Phil Caley, but that was quickly cancelled out by Nathan Steel. The game went to extra time, in which Ozioma Davidson put Crook ahead, and then Steel equalised, even though Thornaby were down to nine men at the time because of two red cards. But Josh Bynoe got the winner in the dying minutes of extra time.

By Media Manager Stuart Dick

It’s interesting to see the exposure the Northern League is beginning to get on the media stage. Of course, my Koast Radio show on Friday evenings is the pinnacle of this as we cover the four local non-league sides.

Elsewhere the likes of Hive Radio (where I’m a cricket commentator) are producing live coverage of matches, something we at Koast are looking to do in the future.

It’s not just the radio though, Football Matters, a TV show on the local channel Made in Tyne Wear is a well put together show and covers all the sides in the North East, whether it is level, non-league or Women’s Football, they showcase it all.

But for those who have watched it, it seems Shildon already have the title wrapped up, every week I tune in waiting for comments about Morpeth’s latest result, but rarely do we get a mention.

No one can deny that Shildon have an excellent side, but I can’t help thinking the pundits on the show should venture to Craik Park, and at least take a look at this seasons Morpeth Town.

I know Nick and some of the players watch the show, and, not that they need any motivation, I feel the show will be doing a grand job of getting our players fired up to continue our excellent form (11 wins out of 12 is good going in anyone’s book).

So if you get the chance, switch on Made in Tyne & Wear on Wednesday’s at 8pm to see Morpeth Town highlights, and reaction to the Northern League as whole.

Anyway, back to the football, two games in quick succession before heading off to Lancashire for the FA Vase tie, hopefully another six points will see us climb to the top of the table.

Tune in on Friday’s 6-8pm for Koast Sport With Stuart Dick, Ian Skinner and Guests on Koast Radio.

Dominant display against Champions Marske United 0-2 Morpeth Town Morpeth Town made it five wins on the bounce as strike duo Sean Taylor and Michael Chilton both netted against League Champions Marske United at GER Stadium. Taylor opened the scoring in the first half finishing off an excellent counter-attack, before Chilton powered home a Keith Graydon free-kick in the second period to take home all three points, although the winning margin could, and possibly should, have been larger. Morpeth made one change from the side that defeated Dunston UTS in mid-week, Steven Anderson replacing Lee McAndrew who was absent, as Town looked to make it 11 wins in 12 games. The opening to the game was very cagey on the tight GER Stadium pitch, both sides struggling to play free-flowing football. Graydon had the first shot on goal, a speculative 35 yard effort that was easily handled by Robert Dean. Despite a lot of possession, Morpeth were unable to produce any goal scoring opportunities, a James Novak cross fumbled by Dean, but gathered at the second attempt as Chilton was ready to pounce, the closest Town got to scoring in the opening 20 minutes. The hosts didn’t fare much better, their best chance coming from a long throw by Liam O’Sullivan which was flicked on by Danny Brunskill and diverted wide by the covering Michael Hall. The visitors had the ball in the net in the 24th minute, Taylor the provider, whipping in a left wing cross, Chilton finishing low into the corner only to see the flag go up for offside. Mid-way through the first half Morpeth began to create better chances. Luke Carr went close after cutting onto his unfavoured right at the edge of the area, his shot headed behind by a defender. At the other end Adam Wheatley headed a Craig Ruddy corner just over Karl Dryden’s crossbar with a looping effort. A lightning quick counter-attack gave Morpeth the lead on 34 minutes. Steven Anderson latching on to a Hall clearance, his excellent first touch set up a diagonal ball to Taylor, who

relayed the ball to Chilton down the left. He found Carr at the byline, who cut the ball back into the six yard box where Taylor slid home for his tenth of the season. Marske were denied an instant reply when another O’Sullivan long throw was bundled into the net, the referee blowing the whistle for a foul on Dryden. The Highwaymen almost doubled their lead before the half, Chilton finding space on the edge of the penalty area, but the striker leaned back too much and curled his effort over the bar. Just before the half, Jordan Nellis replaced the injured Anderson, and four minutes into the second period he almost scored a wonderful solo effort. Picking the ball up on the right wing, Nellis beat four men with some nifty footwork before playing a one-two with Carr. The striker found himself one-on-one in front of goal, but was unable to finish as the ball rolled wide. Nellis was in thick of the action again five minutes later, Graydon’s 25 yard shot saved well by Dean, Nellis converting the rebound, again the referee’s assistant flagging for offside, despite Nellis’ complaints. The home side did muster the odd chance in the second half, a long range free- kick from Craig Gott was well held by Dryden. As the clock ticked towards the hour mark, Morpeth doubled their lead. Graydon’s right wing free-kick was beautifully placed onto the head of Chilton who headed over the ‘keeper and into the roof of the net. From that point on it was one way traffic as the visitors looked to put the game beyond doubt. A long ball from David Hiftle was headed by Chilton into the path of Taylor eight yards out, the forward’s effort sailing over. The golden opportunities kept falling to Taylor, Nellis breaking away down the right wing, crossing into the six yard box, Taylor sliding in but missing the target. The onslaught continued, Taylor turning provider after latching on to a Stephen Forster ball down the right, finding Chilton at the back post, his effort saved on the goal line by the chest of Dean, Taylor unable to convert the rebound. Chilton and Taylor were working well in partnership, another Hiftle long ball chested down by Chilton, Taylor hitting a fizzing half volley just over the bar. A comfortable win for the Highwaymen, and one that should have been more emphatic. Morpeth remain two points behind league leaders Shildon, and still have two games in hand. The gap to third place is now nine points.

Saturday 17th October Round-Up (by Ray Simpson)

Shildon manager Gary Forrest believes that the Railwaymen’s defence is the platform for success after they beat fellow title challengers North Shields 2-0 at Dean Street on Saturday.

Shildon took the lead after 12 minutes when Bobby Moore scored from a Ben Woods cross, and they could have added further goals before half time. Dean Holmes hit the Shildon bar in the second half, but Paul Connor flicked the ball into the net from a right wing corner for the second.

Morpeth are hot on Shildon’s heels, after they had an excellent 2-0 away win at champions Marske United. Dominant Morpeth had a goal disallowed before they took the lead when Sean Taylor scored from a left wing cross, and they missed several more chances before Micky Chilton headed the second. Taylor missed two chances to complete his hat trick.

West Auckland’s position at the bottom is looking more precarious after they were beaten 2-0 at home by Jarrow Roofing. The visitors took the lead when Paul Chow scored from a Corey Barnes free kick, and nine minutes later, Chow scored his second from another Barnes assist.

Anthony Hume went close for West in the second half, but they had John Seaton dismissed for two yellows late in the game. West are six points adrift of safety, and three points behind second bottom Bedlington.

Washington’s unbeaten league start came to an end when they were beaten 4-2 at Sunderland RCA, who leapfrogged over them into fourth. RCA took an early lead through Michael Charlton’s effort, then Joe Melvin fired the second from a Stephen Callan assist. Connor Okus pulled a goal back with a header for Washington before half time.

Melvin restored the RCA’s lead at the start of the second half, but Washington pulled one back through Chris Winn. However, right at the end, Adam Drysdale got the fourth from a Callen pass.

Dunston UTS bounced back to form with a 3-1 home win over Consett. Dunston started really well, and former Consett player Scott Martindale scored from a free kick, then Malky Morien won possession deep inside the Consett half then ran through and scored the second. Steve Richardson hit the bar with a header for Dunston before Morien headed the third. Morien hit the bar before half time. Consett improved in the second half, and pulled a goal back when Michael Sweet scored from eight yards.

Newton Aycliffe won only their second home game of the season when they defeated Newcastle Benfield 3-1 at Moore Lane. Benfield took the lead midway through the first half through Shane Jones, but Aycliffe levelled just before half time with a header by Ashley Coffey from a corner.

Stuart Banks fired Aycliffe into the lead on 55 minutes, then Coffey sent Paul Garthwaite running through and slot in the third. Benfield have now dropped to fourth bottom.

Durham City, who have signed defender Richard Archer from Newton Aycliffe, won 2-0 at Norton. Durham won thanks to two late goals. Callum Patton made a good run into the box and set up James Fairley to fire into the corner, then Jason Blackburn and Patton combined to send Fairley running through for the second.

Durham have had to postpone Tuesday night’s home game with Jarrow Roofing , and switch their Saturday game with Sunderland RCA because of an undisclosed issue with their New Ferens Park ground.

Ashington won their second away game in four days when they won 3-1 at West Allotment. The home side took the lead with a Sean McRoberts penalty after 53 minutes, but Ashington equalised with a header by Ben Harmison. Lee Scott put Ashington 2-1 up from close range, then Kyle Oliver set up Andrew Johnson for the third.

Whitley Bay came from behind to win 3-2 at Seaham Red Star Liam McBryde opened the scoring for Seaham in the opening minute, but Whitley equalised through Liam Hudson. Dan Robinson again put Seaham in front, only for Adam Shanks to level from the spot. But with 15 minutes left, Shanks headed the winner.

Second bottom Bedlington came back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 at Penrith. The Cumbrians looked set when Nathan Waterston scored from a Martyn Coleman pass, but Marc Dummett equalised.

Ben Jackson put them 2-1 up at half time, then Sam Bell headed in a rebound. But Marc Walton pulled one back from the edge of the box, then Adam Harvey fired the equaliser from 20 yards.

In the second division, South Shields have now won seven successive league games after former Sunderland midfielder Julio Arca inspired them to a 4-0 victory at second bottom Esh Winning.

They took the lead inside the first minute when Lewis Teasdale scored from Andy Bulford’s pass, and it was 2-0 when Ben Riding scored with a 30 yarder. They got their third on 19 minutes when the brilliant Julio Arca beat two men and hit the bar with a shot, and Teasdale knocked in the loose ball. Shields got their fourth with 11 minutes left when Arca curled a free kick into the net from 25 yards out.

Shields are now five points clear because second placed Chester-le- Street were beaten 2-1 at home by Tow Law. Chester took the lead after 54 minutes through Kevin Dixon but Lawyers hit back. Glenn Caygill fired the equaliser, and then the same player headed the winner to put his side ninth in the table.

Ryhope CW scored a last minute winner to give them the points at Alnwick. They led 3-0 early in the second half with goals by Josh Home-Jackson (2) and Chris Trewick, but Alnwick came roaring back with goals by Tony Brown (2) and David Brown. But Ryhope recovered and won the game in the last minute with a goal by Damien Stevens that took a huge deflection off an Alnwick defender.

Darlington RA are level on points with Ryhope thanks to an excellent 4-1 away win at Team Northumbria. Sam England set up Kerry Hedley to slot the RA into the lead, but David Dormand equalised for Team North from 25 yards.

Jim Wilson helped the ball on for Hedley to put the RA ahead again, then the same combination opened up the Team North defence for Hedley to score with a left foot shot to complete his hat trick. Wilson then cleverly dribbled through and scored the fourth.

Billingham Synthonia returned to form by scoring three times in the first half to beat Willington at Central Avenue. Chris Lawther headed Synners into the lead from a Mattie Osmond corner then he fired the second from a Steven Roberts pass. Lawther then helped on a corner for Osmond to score. Synners are now up to eighth in the table.

Brandon are now into tenth place following their win over Crook Town, Ben Trotter scoring the winner. Brandon have now won their last four matches. Thornaby are now in seventh place thanks to a 4-0 away win at Birtley, Curtis Edwards (2), Nathan Steel and Danny Lofts getting the goals.

Easington were the day’s top scorers with a 7-1 away win at Ryton and Crawcrook., after being 4-0 up at one point. Willie Paul (2), Bryan Norton (2), Aidan Heywood, Chris Pearson and Joe Kerridge were their scorers. Ryton’s consolation came from Will Forsyth.

Stokesley continue to concede goals at an alarming rate, and they have now conceded 75 in the league after losing 6-0 at home to Billingham Town. Chris Dickinson and Gary Redman both scored two apiece, with Stewart Bath and Craig Hutchinson scoring the others.

Hebburn came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Heaton Stannington. The home side led with two goals by Lewis Burns, but Hebburn hit back through James Talbot and Shaun Ready. Northallerton, under the caretaker managership of Dion Raitt, picked up a point in a goalless draw at Whickham.

Managers Message: Nick Gray and Dave Malone

We’ve had five tough games in recent weeks starting with the FA Vase game against Billingham Synthonia followed by four league games where we took maximum points against the likes of Dunston, Consett and Marske.

We are a third of the way through the season now and we are starting to find some form which is good, but it won’t get any easier, we have a small squad, so we know it’s going to get tougher, we are keeping our feet firmly on the ground.

We’ve got two tough games in the next four days, and if we aren’t switched on during these matches, they could come back to bite us.

We have the FA Vase game coming up next weekend, we’ve had the best possible preperation we can, we’ve been to watch West Didsbury & Chorlton twice, and are preparing to head down a day early. Whitley Bay in the Northumberland Senior Cup is also a difficult draw.

I’m sure the lads are relishing the challenges ahead, and I have full confidence in our squad.

Yours in Sport Nicky Gray

Seaham Red Star History

Seaham Red Star are named after the pub in which they were formed. A Sunday morning side in 1973, they are now widely regarded as one of the Northern League’s leading clubs. Much of the credit for the Club’s early development belongs to Ralph Pigg, the initial Secretary, and Larry Phillips, the Club’s first Manager. The pair, supported by a small committee, entered a side in the Houghton and District League and, after a promising first season, made a successful application to join the Northern Alliance League in 1974. After a further five fairly successful seasons, the Club felt sufficiently confident to join the then highly competitive Wearside League in 1979. This confidence was soon justified, the Club winning the Durham Challenge Cup in 1980 and the League and League Cup “double” in 1981-82. In 1983, they were elected to the Northern League Second Division and, after some near misses, eventually gained promotion to the First Division in the 1987-88 season. Bryan Mayhew took over as Chairman of the Club in 1986 and, with able support from former Secretaries, Harry Hobson and John McBeth and a small hardworking committee – in particular Reg Atkinson, Dave Copeland, Jim Ferguson and John Smith – the Club enjoyed First Division status for an unbroken fourteen seasons. Notable successes during this period, included finishing third in 1993-4, winning the League Cup in 1992-3 and, after leading the table for most of the season, finishing second in 1999/2000. Mayhew was also a prime mover in getting the League to join the National Pyramid, calling the Special General Meeting of clubs which eventually led to the historic decision being made. Just two years after finishing runners-up in the First Division, the Club suffered its first ever relegation in its near thirty years history. Even worse was to follow when, as a result of dwindling committee support, officials took the reluctant step of tendering the Club’s resignation from the League. However, following a positive response from a number of local people keen to see the Club continue, a new committee was formed under the chairmanship of John Smith and the resignation was withdrawn. The Club’s re-introduction to Division 2 at the start of 2002/3 got off to an unpromising start but, after bringing in Neil Hixon as Manager, the Star failed by the narrowest of margins to gain an immediate return to Division 1. Unfortunately for the Club, Neil’s achievements resulted in him being snapped up by Durham City shortly after the start of last season, effectively putting our promotion aspirations on hold for at least another year. However, with experienced Northern League manager Peter Mulcaster steadying the ship, the Club finished in a respectable mid-table position. Neil Hixon returned as manager in 2005 and along with Stuart Gooden and former Sunderland & Scottish International George Herd put together a side that won promotion back to the First Division in the 2006/07 season. The following season Hixon & Herd moved to Sunderland RCA and Gooden took over the team which finished in a creditable 8th place in the table. The following season saw yet another change in management with former Darlington player Andy Toman taking over. Another dip in club fortunes saw the side face relegation. The 2010/11 and 2011/12 were two of the worst seasons in the Red Star history with the team involved in relegation battles which could have seen the club relegated to the Wearside League, both battles were successful and the club retained its Northern League status. In 2012 the club appointed Mark Collingwood and Simon Johnson, who achieved great success in the Northern Alliance League with Hebburn Reyrolle. They brought the nucleolus of the side from their previous club and have added experience and quality into what may well be a team that could challenge for honours. The last two seasons have seen a big improvement on the playing side with a 10 place finish in 2012/13 and 4th place last season missing out on promotion by 1 point. Previous managers in the Club’s history include Northern League legend Paul Walker, in conjunction with the long serving Chris Copeland; former Hartlepool Manager, Billy Horner; and ex Burnley player, Harry Wilson. Former players going on to join Football League clubs include Nigel Gleghorn (Ipswich and Manchester City), Bobby Davison (Halifax, Derby and Leeds) and Stephen Harper (currently with Newcastle United). Tommy Henderson remains the Club’s leading goalscorer, netting 211 goals in 276 appearances including a record breaking 62 in 1978-9. Honours: Phillips Floodlighting Competition winners 1978-79; Durham Challenge Cup winners 1979-80; Wearside League champions 1981-82; Wearside League Cup winners 1981-2; Northern League 2nd Div. runners up 1987-88; Northern League Cup winners 1992-93; Northern League 1st Div. runners up 1999-2000, Northern League 2nd Div. Captains Message:

I think Marske United showed us a lot of respect with the way they set up with a loan striker which could have been tricky for us with a packed midfield.

However, we dominated the game from the first whistle playing nice football, which resulted in the first goal which was well worked by Luke and finished off by Tayls.

2nd half we controlled things once more with a great header to double our lead. We then missed chance after chance, but 3 points and a clean sheet made it a good weekend.

On to Red Star, this will be a tough game, you don't know what you’re going to get out of Seaham, they are like a packet of Revel sweets, but we’ll have to be at our best to take home the three points.
