I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all Ashington players, officials and supporters and I hope they enjoy their evening with us. Tonight’s game is a repeat of last season’s Final at St James’ Park when we won a keenly contested game by two goals to one, so while we are aiming to retain the trophy, we can be sure that Gary Middleton’s side will be out for revenge. Gary will always be remembered here at Hillheads as the man who captained Whitley to our first FA Vase triumph back in 2002, but he is now making his name as a manager, and he brings a strong Ashington side with him tonight. In his ranks he now has Phil Bell, who left Hillheads to join the Colliers in September. Phil was always a popular figure at Whitley Bay with more than 50 goals and almost 150 appearances to his name. Please note that if the scores tonight are level after 90 minutes, extra time will be played and if there is still no winner, there will be a replay at Woodhorn Lane on a date to be announced. On Saturday, we are due to be back in search of Northern League points when Penrith are the visitors to Hillheads. Paul McIlduff Chairman HOWAY THE BAY! Enjoy Tonight's Game
