It will trigger a core partnership open to a wide range of local actors from the coastal area, the metropolitan area and the hinterland. Aims and objectives • General objective: to implement the EES at local level in order to achieve a framework strategy for employment initiatives and a stronger impact on local employment policies • Specific objective: to develop a participatory local strategy for employment in order to promote a better use of local resources and the creation of new ones in the province Methodologies and activities • Networking, participation and the promotion and use of the new ICTs • Adoption of a joint working methodology • Analysis of local problems, resources and opportunities • Development of local solutions via the GELAP • Co-ordination with the National Action Plan for social inclusion and with other policies (social, environment, culture, ICT, R&D) • Adoption of a common methodology for self-monitoring and self-evaluation, thus contributing to the sustainability of the approach Outcomes • The first Genoa Local Action Plan for Employment (GELAP) to improve the implementation of the EES at local level • A better methodology for collecting and analysing data to be shared by the main local actors • Reinforced and long-term involvement of local actors through the GELAP Committee, the Forum on Local Action for Employment and a Conference for Consensus • A better knowledge of the territory and its main assets, but also problems and challenges • A more effective and efficient planning of local employment initiatives • Inclusion of the EES and social policies in University curricula for future decision- makers.
