2L Summer Opportunity

The firm Olson Hagel & Fishburn LLP is looking to hire second year students for this summer. The firm is located in Sacramento and practices in the following areas: political law, election and campaign finance law, education law, constitutional law, and government and administrative law.

CRLAF Summer Fellowships

The Rural Legal Assistance Foundation's (CRLAF) Sacramento office is seeking 2 law students with a strong commitment to public interest to help provide legal assistance and representation to low income immigrants in the Central Valley. These positions will be supervised by the Citizenship and Immigration Project.

This is a great opportunity for students who are passionate about social justice and immigrants' rights and sensitive to working with low income immigrants. The annual Public Service Graduation will take place this Friday at 5 pm. We will recognize and celebrate the dedication of public service of King Hall's graduating 3Ls. Public Service Law Program Certificates will be presented and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Service award winner will be announced. Friends and family are welcome to attend. The graduation will be followed immediately by the 3L Farwell BBQ in the courtyard.

14th Annual Bay Area Diversity Career Fair Registration

This year, the Bay Area Diversity Career Fair will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018. The Fair attracts hiring representatives from the most prominent law firms, government legal departments and nonprofit organizations in the area. Only law students who have completed their first year of law school by the time of the interviews are eligible to participate. Openings are for 2019 2L summer associate positions.

Registration begins on Monday, May 21.The registration site can be found here. The registration and bidding deadline is Sunday, June 17 11:59 p.m. PST.

Summer Mock Interview Program

Attention Class of 2020! The Career Services Office invites you to participate in our summer mock interview program. We highly recommend that you sign up to participate in this program to help prepare for fall on campus interviews and securing your second-summer job.

The CSO will match participating students with alumni attorneys by geographic location, legal areas of interest, and sector (private, government, public sector). Once matched through our office, the student and attorney will be able to set up a time at their convenience for a mock interview session over the summer. If you are interested in participating, please email [email protected] by April 30th with the following information:

1) Geographic area in which you are located this summer; 2) Your legal practice areas of interest; 3) The sector you are interested in working (private, government, public interest). Please be as specific as possible (i.e. Transactional Attorney, Commercial Litigator, District Attorney, Public Defender); and 4) Send an updated copy of your resume in PDF format.

Career Services will also record an Interview Boot Camp information session and provide you with access prior to your on campus interviews. During the session, Career Services will go over important interview tips and strategies and walk you through the entire on campus interview process to prepare you for upcoming interviews. We strongly recommend that you watch the video recording before your interviews. More information regarding this recording will be sent via email to the class listserv over the summer.

Morgan Lewis Summer in the City Receptions

Morgan Lewis will be hosting a number of receptions for students interested in meeting their lawyers, hearing more about their work and getting a feel for what working at Morgan Lewis is all about. Receptions will be held on June 4, 2018 from 5-7pm at Morgan Lewis offices across the county, including in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Houston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C.

Aoki Center Fellowship

The Aoki Center is seeking a 3L or alum for a one-year paid fellowship. The fellow will work under the direction of the Director of the Aoki Center and its faculty affiliates on planning, research and writing projects in a variety of areas, including supporting the Tribal Justice project and other Aoki Center clinics and projects, participating in the Center's strategic planning process and maintaining all of the Aoki Center social media platforms.

AEF 2018 Summer Fellowships

The Asian Pacific American Bar Association Educational Fund (AEF) awards summer fellowships and grants to law students from around the nation ($6,000 for one Robert E. Wone Fellowship and $4,000 for AEF Fellowships). The primary purpose of the fellowships is to fund a student's internship with a public interest organization that benefits either the metropolitan Washington, D.C. community-at-large and/or the Asian Pacific American community. Such organizations include governmental organizations and other non-profits serving the public interest.

For all recipients of a fellowship, AEF requires that the internship be unpaid (except for nominal payment for such items as transportation), arranged by the student, and extend at least ten weeks or a total of 400 hours. The deadline to apply is Monday, April 30, 2018, 11:59 p.m. ET.

Reed Smith 2018 Diverse Scholars Program

Reed Smith LLP has announced its 2018 Deborah J. Broyles Diverse Scholars Program. The Deborah Broyles Diverse Scholars Program provides two $20,000 awards to be used to defray necessary expenditures related to her/his legal education for the second year of law school, as well as a paid summer associate position after completion of the second year of law school. Share the Wealth Judicial Clerkship Program

In connection with Just The Beginning-A Pipeline Organization's Share the Wealth Judicial Clerkship Program, six federal judges will be conducting a round of interviews to fill 2019-2020 clerkship positions in their chambers. The Share theWealth Judicial Law Clerk Program is a referral program run by judges who feel that it is of the upmost importance to encourage more minorities to compete for federal judicial clerkships. The participating judges are below:

The Vermont Judiciary. Deadline: May 15, 2018. Symplicity ID 355794. Trial court law clerks concentrate on research and writing for all judges of the civil, criminal, family, environmental, and probate divisions of the superior court, as assigned. Environmental law clerks focus primarily on the environmental division. In-person interviews will be held in June 2018.

Arizona Supreme Court. Symplicity ID 356034. Arizona Supreme Court clerkship applications are being accepted from law students who expect to graduate in 2019 and wish to apply for the 2019-20 term. Students may submit applications at any time, but the Justices will begin scheduling law clerk interviews on June 25, 2018.
