  • June 24, 2018 Solemnity of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist
Sunday, April 26, 2015 1 June 24, 2018 Solemnity of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist JUNE IS DIACONATE MONTH (Part 3 of a 3 part series) My Experience as Deacon Dennis’ Wife - by Jo Gorsuch It is my great honor to journey with Dennis as he responds to his call to the Permanent Diaconate and serves here at St. Joseph Marello Catholic Church. We are blessed to be assigned to this Parish, especially benefiting from the spiritual wealth of the Oblates of St. Joseph and our devout parishioners. When Dennis first told me that he felt a call to become a deacon, I was very surprised, but I encouraged him to follow his heart. Soon we learned that the wife of a Permanent Deacon has a role to play. When a husband/ father assumes the responsibilities of a permanent deacon, there is definitely an impact on balancing married life, family life and career responsibilities. Wives are called upon to accompany the deacon candidates in the discernment process and pre-ordination formation activities. This included psychological testing and interviews prior to our being accepted as a couple into the diaconate class. I attended all weekends of prayer and instruction for the discernment year and the four years of diaconal formation. Participating in this way allowed Dennis and I to grow together, strengthen our marriage and prepare for dedicated service to the church. Each year each wife had the opportunity to express any reservations they had regarding their husband continuing in the formation program in a letter to Bishop Weigand.

ABSTRACT: This bibliographical research, with a qualitative approach, aims to understand the educational proposal of the Oblates of St.

YEAR OF ST. JOSEPH Sunday, August 16th - Saturday, May 1st Pastoral Guide for Celebrating the Year of St. Joseph BISHOP’S PASTORAL LETTER August ‘20 | Joseph and the TABLE OF CONTENTS I. WHY ST. CATECHETICAL RESOURCES IX. APPENDIX I. WHY ST. JOSEPH? WHY NOW? On December 8, 1870, The Sacred Congregation of Rites promulgated the following decree, which communicated the decision of Pope Pius IX to declare St. Joseph Patron of the Universal Church, and which also raised St. Joseph’s feast of March 19 to the rank of double of the first class. Quemadmodum Deus Pope Pius IX As almighty God appointed Joseph, son of the patriarch Jacob, over all the land of Egypt to save grain for the people, so when the fullness of time had come and he was about to send to earth his only- begotten Son, the Savior of the world, he chose another Joseph, of whom the first had been the type, and he made him the lord and chief of his household and possessions, the guardian of his choicest treasures. Indeed, he had as his spouse the Immaculate Virgin Mary, of whom was born by the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ our Lord, who deigned to be reputed in the sight of men as the son of Joseph, and was subject to him. Him whom countless kings and prophets had desired to see, Joseph not only saw but conversed with, and embraced in paternal affection, and kissed.

  • The Year of St. Joseph
The Year of St. Joseph Reflections, Prayers, Devotions, and Consecration to St. Joseph THE YEAR OF ST. JOSEPH On December 8, 2020, Pope Francis proclaimed a special “Year of Saint Joseph,” extending to the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on December 8, 2021. In a new Apostolic Letter entitled Patris Corde (“With a Father’s Heart”), Pope Francis marks the 150th anniversary of Blessed Pope Pius IX’s declaration of Saint Joseph as a Patron of the Universal Church, describing him as a model father and a support and guide for troubled times. Here at St. Pius X Parish, we hope to celebrate this special time by honoring St. Joseph throughout the upcoming year. There will be special homilies, monthly reflections, and opportunities for special prayer and spiritual enrichment. This parish booklet offers resources for spiritual reflection, prayer, plenary indulgences, and a consecration to St. Joseph. Why Turn to St. Joseph? In these challenging times, we can turn to St. Joseph with great hope: We can turn to him as protector from harm, even as he protected Mary and the child Jesus from Herod’s wrath; St. Joseph was the worker and provider for the Holy Family, so to him we can entrust ourselves and our nation in the face of unprecedented unemployment and economic distress; As model husband and father, we turn to St. Joseph at a time when good examples of both are so desperately needed. We can ask him to help strengthen our families – as well as the bonds of our “parish family” – at a time when these can be fragile.
