Red Neighbours’ walking football team welcomed the England walking football squad to Liverpool for a special friendly match. Simon Mignolet, Joel Matip, Divock Origi, Nathaniel Clyne and Alberto Moreno took time out to meet youngsters from three Anfield high schools at the The teams met at Red Neighbours’ home ground, Anfield Sports and networking session organised by Red Neighbours. Walking football is designed to encourage over 50s to engage in regular physical activity in a fun and social setting. Mignolet, Matip, Clyne, Moreno and Origi with local Anfield pupils 36 students from Alsop High School, Academy of Saint Francis of Assisi and Notre Dame Catholic College attended the careers event, where LFC staff from various departments were also on hand to offer their advice. Gayle Gall, careers co-ordinator at Notre Dame Catholic College, said: “These events allow our students to learn more about potential career paths and how Red Neighbours’ walking footballers with the England walking football team. to get where they want to be. Twelve Gifted and Talented Year 8/9s are invited to participate from each school. Working together in mixed school teams of four, they undertake practical activities that increase their awareness of the applica- tion of science. Each activity is designed to develop skills that will be needed in the workplace, with marks being awarded for planning, team work and the finished product. Challenge Days are usually held on the campus of a local college or university. The young people undertake three 75min activities.
