Update of the Galician macromycetes check-list ( Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota ). Mykes 14: 13-38. SUMMARY This is a compilation of all taxa of Pezizomycotina (Ascomycota ) gathered and published in Galicia (NW Spain) which do not appear in the latest check-list of SOLIÑO et CASTRO ’s (2005) macromycetes . Key words : Pezizomycotina , Ascomycota , Galicia, chorology . Campus As Lagoas-Marcosende. Universidade deVigo. Descartáronse as referencias a representantes dos subphylla Saccharomycotina Schiønning e Taphrinomycotina O.E.Erikss. et Winka. MycoKeys 60: 45–67. https://doi. org/10.3897/mycokeys.60.38186 Abstract Helvella species are ascomycetous macrofungi with saddle-shaped or cupulate apothecia. They are distri- buted worldwide and play an important ecological role as ectomycorrhizal symbionts. A recent multi-locus phylogenetic study of the genus suggested that the cupulate group of Helvella was in need of comprehen- sive revision. In this study, all the specimens of cupulate Helvella sensu lato with ribbed stipes deposited in HMAS were examined morphologically and molecularly.

  • A Synopsis of the Saddle Fungi (Helvella: Ascomycota) in Europe – Species Delimitation, Taxonomy and Typification
Persoonia 39, 2017: 201–253 ISSN (Online) 1878-9080 www.ingentaconnect.com/content/nhn/pimj RESEARCH ARTICLE https://doi.org/10.3767/persoonia.2017.39.09 A synopsis of the saddle fungi (Helvella: Ascomycota) in Europe – species delimitation, taxonomy and typification I. Skrede1,*, T. Carlsen1, T. Schumacher1 Key words Abstract Helvella is a widespread, speciose genus of large apothecial ascomycetes (Pezizomycete: Pezizales) that are found in terrestrial biomes of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. This study represents a beginning on molecular phylogeny assessing species limits and applying correct names for Helvella species based on type material and specimens in the Pezizales university herbaria (fungaria) of Copenhagen (C), Harvard (FH) and Oslo (O). We use morphology and phylogenetic systematics evidence from four loci – heat shock protein 90 (hsp), translation elongation factor alpha (tef), RNA polymerase II (rpb2) and the nuclear large subunit ribosomal DNA (LSU) – to assess species boundaries in an expanded sample of Helvella specimens from Europe. We combine the morphological and phylogenetic information from 55 Helvella species from Europe with a small sample of Helvella species from other regions of the world. Little intraspecific variation was detected within the species using these molecular markers; hsp and rpb2 markers provided useful barcodes for species delimitation in this genus, while LSU provided more variable resolution among the pertinent species. We discuss typification issues and identify molecular characteristics for 55 European Helvella species, designate neo- and epitypes for 30 species, and describe seven Helvella species new to science, i.e., H. alpicola, H. alpina, H. carnosa, H. danica, H. nannfeldtii, H. pubescens and H.

ARKIV FOR· BOTANIK. BAND 30 A. N:o 4. Tile Geoglossaceae of Sweden (with Regard also to the Surrounding CQuntries). By J. A. NANNFELDT. With 5 plates and 6 figures in the text. Communicated June 4th, 1941, by NILS E. SVEDELIUS and ROB. E. FRIES. There are hardly any Discomycetes that have been the subject of so many monographs as the Geoglossaceae. Already in 1875, COOKE (1875 a, 1875 b) published two monographic studies, and some years later he described and illustrated in his Mycographia (COOKE 1879) the majority of the species known at that time. In 1897, MAssEE published a world monograph of the family, though this paper - as so many other publications by the same author - is mainly a compi lation. DURA.ND'S monog-raph (1908, with a supplement in 19~1) of the North American species is a model of accuracy and thoroughness, and indispensable also for other parts of the world. This monograph was the base for a pamphlet by LLOYD (1916) on the Geoglossaceae of the world. If we add v. LUYK'S revision (1919) of the Geoglossaceae in the Rijks herbarium at Leiden, with all PERSOON'S specimens, SINDEN & FITZPATRICK'S paper (1930) on a new species of T1'ichoglos8ttrli, IMAI'S studies (1934, 1936 a, 1936 b, 1938) on Japanese species of certain genera, his list of the Norwegian Geoglos8aceae (IMA.I 1940), and MAIN'S papers (1936, 19~0) with descriptions of several new American species, the most important contri butions of recent date to the taxonomy of the family have been mentioned.

  • A Preliminary Checklist of Arizona Macrofungi
A PRELIMINARY CHECKLIST OF ARIZONA MACROFUNGI Scott T. Bates School of Life Sciences Arizona State University PO Box 874601 Tempe, AZ 85287-4601 ABSTRACT A checklist of 1290 species of nonlichenized ascomycetaceous, basidiomycetaceous, and zygomycetaceous macrofungi is presented for the state of Arizona. The checklist was compiled from records of Arizona fungi in scientific publications or herbarium databases. Additional records were obtained from a physical search of herbarium specimens in the University of Arizona’s Robert L. Gilbertson Mycological Herbarium and of the author’s personal herbarium. This publication represents the first comprehensive checklist of macrofungi for Arizona. In all probability, the checklist is far from complete as new species await discovery and some of the species listed are in need of taxonomic revision. The data presented here serve as a baseline for future studies related to fungal biodiversity in Arizona and can contribute to state or national inventories of biota. INTRODUCTION Arizona is a state noted for the diversity of its biotic communities (Brown 1994). Boreal forests found at high altitudes, the ‘Sky Islands’ prevalent in the southern parts of the state, and ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa P.& C. Lawson) forests that are widespread in Arizona, all provide rich habitats that sustain numerous species of macrofungi. Even xeric biomes, such as desertscrub and semidesert- grasslands, support a unique mycota, which include rare species such as Itajahya galericulata A. Møller (Long & Stouffer 1943b, Fig. 2c). Although checklists for some groups of fungi present in the state have been published previously (e.g., Gilbertson & Budington 1970, Gilbertson et al. 1974, Gilbertson & Bigelow 1998, Fogel & States 2002), this checklist represents the first comprehensive listing of all macrofungi in the kingdom Eumycota (Fungi) that are known from Arizona.

Abstract. A taxonomic review of the specimens of the genus Helvella housed at FCME (UNAM) Herbarium was carried out; 14 species were determined. The knowledge of this genus in the states of Chihuahua, Distrito Federal, Estado de Mexico, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Michoacán, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Querétaro and Tlaxcala is widened. A sinoptical key is provided for the species cited from Mexico, as well as the morphological description of selected taxa. Key words: taxonomy, Helvella, distribution, Mexico.

Its ai ms are to educate the public about edible and poisonous fungi and to improve knowledge of the regional non edible fungi. There are currently 130 subscribing members, represented by a biennially serving Board, consisting of a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and three Members, who meet six to seven times per year. On average there are six membership meetings (usually two in the spring and four in the autumn) mainly devot ed to edible fungi, with lectures from Society members and occasionally from professionals. Five to six field trips are held in the season (including one in May), when an identification service for the general public is offered by authorized members who are trained in a University-based course. New species are deposited in the Herbaria at Oslo and Trondheim Universities. The Society offers to guide professionals and amateurs from other pans of Norway, and from other countries, through the region in search of special biotypes or races. MHtings: Occasional symposia are arranged on specific topics (eg Coninarius and Russula) by Society and outside specialists which attract panicipation from other Scandinavian countries. Publication: Journal: Agarica (ca 200 pages, two issues per year) is mainly dedicated to macrornycetes and accepts anicles written in Nordic languages, English, French or German.

RICHARDSON 165 Braid Road,Edinburgh EH10 6JE U.K. [email protected] Telephone: 0131 447 8165 Résumé – Des détails sont donnés sur 169 espèces de mycètes coprophiles se développant sur 86 échantillons de fumier collectés en France (67 de la métropole, 5 de Corse, 5 de Guadeloupe et 9 des îles Kerguelen) après incubation en chambres humides. ascomycètes / basidiomycetes / biogéographie / diversité / écologie / fimicoles Abstract – Details are given of 169 species of coprophilous fungi developing on 86 samples of dung from France (67 from mainland France, 5 from Corsica, 5 from Guadeloupe and 9 from the Kerguelen Islands) and incubated in moist chambers. ascomycetes / basidiomycetes / biogeography / diversity / ecology / fimicoles INTRODUCTION During various visits to France from 1997-2007 samples of herbivore dung were collected and, on return to the UK, incubated in a damp chamber. Additionally, through the kind help of Jean-Louis Chapuis (Muséum national de Histoire naturelle, Paris), some samples were obtained from the Kerguelen Islands in the southern Indian Ocean between Australia and South Africa. The coprophilous fungi that developed were recorded. MATERIAL AND METHODS Details of the samples collected and incubated to provide records are given in Table 1, and their distribution is shown in Fig. 1. Most were dry when collected, and were placed in paper envelopes. Those that were not were air dried and then packeted. Most samples, other than those from the Kerguelen Islands, were rehydrated and incubated soon after collection on moist paper towelling in plastic boxes with lightly fitting transparent lids, under ambient light and at room temperature (ca 15-18°C).
