Mycosphere 6(1), 19–42, Doi 10.5943/mycosphere/6/1/4 Abstract A study of diversity of coprophilous species of Conocybe was carried out in Punjab state of India during the years 2007 to 2011. This research paper represents 22 collections belonging to 16 Conocybe species growing on five diverse dung types. The species include Conocybe albipes, C. apala, C. brachypodii, C. crispa, C. fuscimarginata, C. lenticulospora, C. leucopus, C. magnicapitata, C. microrrhiza var. coprophila var. nov., C. moseri, C. rickenii, C. subpubescens, C. subxerophytica var. subxerophytica, C. subxerophytica var. brunnea, C. uralensis and C. velutipes. For all these taxa, dung types on which they were found growing are mentioned and their distinctive characters are described and compared with similar taxa along with a key for their identification. The taxonomy of ten taxa is discussed along with the drawings of morphological and anatomical features. Conocybe microrrhiza var. coprophila is proposed as a new variety. As many as six taxa, namely C. albipes, C. fuscimarginata, C. lenticulospora, C. leucopus, C. moseri and C. -

A New Species of Antrodia (Basidiomycota, Polypores) from China

Mycosphere 8(7), 878–885, Doi 10.5943/mycosphere/8/7/4 Abstract A new species, Antrodia monomitica sp. nov., is described and illustrated from China based on morphological characters and molecular evidence. It is characterized by producing annual, fragile and nodulose basidiomata, a monomitic hyphal system with clamp connections on generative hyphae, hyaline, thin-walled and fusiform to mango-shaped basidiospores (6–7.5 × 2.3– 3 µm), and causing a typical brown rot. In phylogenetic analysis inferred from ITS and nLSU rDNA sequences, the new species forms a distinct lineage in the Antrodia s. l., and has a close relationship with A. oleracea. Key words – Fomitopsidaceae – phylogenetic analysis – taxonomy – wood-decaying fungi Introduction Antrodia P. Karst., typified with Polyporus serpens Fr. (=Antrodia albida (Fr.) Donk (Donk 1960, Ryvarden 1991), is characterized by a resupinate to effused-reflexed growth habit, white or pale colour of the context, a dimitic hyphal system with clamp connections on generative hyphae, hyaline, thin-walled, cylindrical to very narrow ellipsoid basidiospores which are negative in Melzer’s reagent and Cotton Blue, and causing a brown rot (Ryvarden & Melo 2014). Ceriporia bresadolae, Clavaria tenuipes and Renatobasidium notabile are presented as new aphyllophoroid species to Finland. Ceriporia bresadolae and R. notabile are globally rare species. The records of Ceriporia aurantiocarnescens, Crustomyces subabruptus, Sistotrema autumnale, Trechispora elongata, and Trechispora silvae- ryae are the second in Finland. New records (or localities) are provided for 33 species with no more than 10 records in Finland. In addition, 76 records of aphyllophoroid species are reported as new to some subzones of the boreal vegetation zone in Finland. -

Fungal Genomes Tell a Story of Ecological Adaptations
Folia Biologica et Oecologica 10: 9–17 (2014) Acta Universitatis Lodziensis Fungal genomes tell a story of ecological adaptations ANNA MUSZEWSKA Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences, Pawinskiego 5A, 02-106 Warsaw, Poland E-mail: [email protected] ABSTRACT One genome enables a fungus to have various lifestyles and strategies depending on environmental conditions and in the presence of specific counterparts. The nature of their interactions with other living and abiotic elements is a consequence of their osmotrophism. The ability to degrade complex compounds and especially plant biomass makes them a key component of the global carbon circulation cycle. Since the first fungal genomic sequence was published in 1996 mycology has benefited from the technolgical progress. The available data create an unprecedented opportunity to perform massive comparative studies with complex study design variants targeted at all cellular processes. KEY WORDS: fungal genomics, osmotroph, pathogenic fungi, mycorrhiza, symbiotic fungi, HGT Fungal ecology is a consequence of osmotrophy Fungi play a pivotal role both in encountered as leaf endosymbionts industry and human health (Fisher et al. Tile Geoglossaceae of Sweden **
ARKIV FOR· BOTANIK. BAND 30 A. N:o 4. Tile Geoglossaceae of Sweden (with Regard also to the Surrounding CQuntries). By J. A. NANNFELDT. With 5 plates and 6 figures in the text. Communicated June 4th, 1941, by NILS E. SVEDELIUS and ROB. E. FRIES. There are hardly any Discomycetes that have been the subject of so many monographs as the Geoglossaceae. Already in 1875, COOKE (1875 a, 1875 b) published two monographic studies, and some years later he described and illustrated in his Mycographia (COOKE 1879) the majority of the species known at that time. In 1897, MAssEE published a world monograph of the family, though this paper - as so many other publications by the same author - is mainly a compi lation. DURA.ND'S monog-raph (1908, with a supplement in 19~1) of the North American species is a model of accuracy and thoroughness, and indispensable also for other parts of the world. This monograph was the base for a pamphlet by LLOYD (1916) on the Geoglossaceae of the world. If we add v. LUYK'S revision (1919) of the Geoglossaceae in the Rijks herbarium at Leiden, with all PERSOON'S specimens, SINDEN & FITZPATRICK'S paper (1930) on a new species of T1'ichoglos8ttrli, IMAI'S studies (1934, 1936 a, 1936 b, 1938) on Japanese species of certain genera, his list of the Norwegian Geoglos8aceae (IMA.I 1940), and MAIN'S papers (1936, 19~0) with descriptions of several new American species, the most important contri butions of recent date to the taxonomy of the family have been mentioned. -
