There is no better way to spend summer in the mountains than by visiting our holiday area, where the unique variety of the landscape offers almost inexhaustible possibilities for walking and leisure activities. You can take a relaxed, child-friendly walk with your whole family on the Fane Alm or Rodenecker Lüsner Alm pastures or go for a gentle potter through the magical woods in the Naz-Sciaves region: whatever you choose, you can leave all your cares at home! The Gitschberg cable cars are situated right in the middle of this beautiful area and are open throughout the summer. They take you to the peaks quickly and comfortably, and are a great way to start a high level walk. Exploring hillsides, mountains and peaks on foot is one of life’s best experiences, and you are bound to sense the peace and tranquillity of your surroundings. This magnificent mountain area has many little huts and lodges inviting you to linger for a while. There are more than 30 of these idyllic hostelries along the walking trails, providing cooling drinks and a variety of regional dishes. It is a well known fact that food always tastes better after a good walk in the hills! The area is also ideal for cyclists, and many of the hilly tracks linking the huts are suitable for mountain bikes. For the little ones, we recommend the Gitschberg Sun Park and the Jochtal Adventure Park, two exciting children’s parks that will turn any family outing into an unforgettable adventure. It can be easily accessed by cable car, and from the top there is an unforgettable panorama across more than 500 peaks. In addition, the Sun Park will keep your children happy with its two giant slides, sun car, sun telephone and other exciting features. Jochtal The Jochtal Adventure Park is just as easy to get to with the Jochtal cable car. Once you are at the top, a gentle country walk will lead you to a view over the valley and surrounding mountain peaks. Our youngest visitors won’t miss out here, either: the play facilities in the newly-opened adventure park will turn your family walk into an unforgettable adventure. Fane Alm The dreamy alpine village of Fane Alm lies high above the tree line, in the midst of lush meadows and against a stunning mountain backdrop. With its idyllic mountain huts, a little village chapel and a number of refreshment stops, it is the ideal destination for those looking for the authentic charm of the alpine pastures. Altfass Valley The Altfass valley near Meransen is well loved by both locals and visitors. A gentle path runs along the valley bottom, accompanied by a little mountain stream that provides pleasant refreshment in the warm summer months. On reaching the end of the valley, stout-hearted walkers will find it well worthwhile to climb up to the beautiful and crystal-clear Seefeld lakes. 6 Naz-Sciaves apple plateau Five picturesque villages set among dreamy woods, vibrant habitats and golden apple orchards: welcome to the Naz-Sciaves apple plateau. The plateau is surrounded by the rugged edges of the Rienz gorge, which defines the landscape and illustrates how the forces of nature have shaped the area over thousands of years. Naz-Sciaves has also become a growing centre for a variety of entertaining events in recent years. These include the Royal, Apple, Sunnseitn and Polenta festivals as well as the increasingly renowned Alpen Flair festival. Mountains of Fundres The imposing peaks surrounding the valley of Fundres are a well-kept secret, lying far from the tourist centres. If you are seeking peace and quiet on a long walk you will strike rich here in this unspoiled, rustic and authentic Alpine idyll. The Höfeweg, a trail that leads past a number of traditional farms, is a highlight of this area. It passes isolated settlements and individual farmsteads set on steep hillsides and gives visitors a fantastic opportunity to get to know the region and its culture. Rodenecker Lüsner Alm If you are looking for an undemanding walk for the whole family, the Rodenecker Lüsner Alm will not disappoint you. Europe’s longest upland pasture has simple paths suitable for both young and old, and you can enjoy unforgettable views from its sun terrace. The Schöpfungsweg (Creation trail) on the route to the 2,194 m Astjoch ridge features impressive artworks inviting you to linger for a while and reflect.
