Outcome This year’s score Last year’s score Health Excellent N/A Safe Very good Independent Excellent Involved Excellent In control Excellent Respect Very good Confident in the future Very good Health: Records show that people’s mental and physical health is monitored and they are encouraged and supported to access all health professionals as required. The staff we spoke to were able to clearly describe the process for administering, storing and recording medication. People decided for themselves what they wanted to eat when planning menus for the week ahead and assisted staff to do the shopping for the week. Staff encouraged them to have healthy eating options with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Some tenants also prepared their own lunch, eg sandwich, make drinks and assisted in the preparation of the main meal at teatime. All staff have been trained in infection control and the staff we spoke to were able to describe the process and guidelines they follow. Regular general health and well being checks are carried out. Safe: Safeguarding and whistle blowing procedures were in place and were accessible to staff. Staff told us that they had received training in safeguarding adults and were clear of the process to follow in raising any concerns they may have and they felt confident that this would be acted upon. Training records showed that all staff had received the relative training. The interior and exterior of the building was pleasant, well maintained, with all fire, health and safety inspections up to date. Connect to Support – North Lincolnshire An information hub and eMarketplace for social care and support services Independent: We found that people could decide for themselves to personalise their own bedrooms with their own belongings. People decided and were supported to access any recreational interest they may have and used public transport or their own vehicle to go out. Everyone took part in the household tasks including keeping their own rooms clean and tidy and taking turns in kitchen tasks. People also were involved and supported by staff when shopping for personal items and going to the bank. Involved: Our assessment of this service has shown us that people who use the service are respected and involved in their care. People are encouraged and supported to get involved in activities that are happening in the local community, including various clubs, swimming and football. Support plans are written in consultation with the tenants and each person has an activity plan for the week. Weekly house meetings are held and the tenants decide what they want to discuss, which includes planning the menus and writing out the shopping list. In control: We found that people had their own individual routines, social life and activities. The staff timetable also tracks were everyone is and what is happening during the week. Various trips out and holidays are arranged and people are accompanied by staff. The homes have a clear and complete record of monies, with people either having their own bank accounts or support to manage their finances and budgeting for the weekly household bills and personal goods. Respect: The staff we spoke to were able to describe clearly and concisely the need for confidentiality about people’s care and were aware of the “no gifts” policy. Information for people is available in picture format, large print and easy read. Advocacy services are used and staff we spoke to has a very good and full understanding of how to signpost or request this service for people at the home. Confident in the future: The training matrix showed us that all staff received regular training and were able to develop their skills and competencies. Staff told us that they received mandatory training and additional training was always on offer and this took place either in house or by attending courses. Staff meetings were held regularly and they told us that they are given the opportunity to raise any concerns or suggest improvements and are involved in decisions regarding any changes that are made. .We looked at examples of staff supervisions and appraisals and these were up to date. Staff also benefit for a range of incentive schemes and awards.
