ISBN 978 92 9234 969 1 Designed and illustrated by Inga Ciumac Web-only version Contents 5 Foreword Holocaust Memorial Days offer an opportunity to reflect on and confront the horrors of the past in order to forge a more peaceful and tolerant future. Many participating States of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) have designated 27 January – the day in 1945 when the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp was liberated – as their official day to commemorate the victims of National Socialism. By paying tribute to all victims of Nazi persecution and remembering their individual stories of deter- mination and strength, we are better able to collectively address intolerance and xenophobia wherever and whenever it appears. Study of the Holocaust and the extermination and persecution of Roma and Sinti has become a substantive part of school curricula throughout the OSCE region, and helps to ensure that young people are aware of the dangers posed by intolerance. In many OSCE participating States, memorial sites dedicated to the many communities victimized under National Socialism also serve to educate young people about these unprecedented atrocities.

  • The Province of Namur at the Heart of the Great War
THE PROVINCE OF NAMUR AT THE HEART OF THE GREAT WAR Axel Tixhon Mélodie Brassinne Philippe Bragard VISITOR’S GUIDE ENGLISH 2 Provincial monument, Namur. EDITORIAL “Under the leadership of his command, Captain- Commander Lentrée has opposed the enemy attacks with a valiant defense, in which the garrison showed bravery and firmness. The fortified structure only fell after the complete destruction of all its cupolas by enemy artillery”. Fort of Saint Héribet, Province of Namur, 1919 (Citation in the Order of the Army). The First World War has left traces of violence and 3 suffering, but also of support and solidarity, and it left a long-lasting imprint in History. The traces of the conflict across the province, though often overlooked, are very present. Cemeteries, forts, headstones, memorials, street names or places invite the visitor, regardless of age or nationality, to get back into history, to touch the names of victims engraved in marble and set in stone with his fingers. Through this contribution, the Province of Namur and its Tourism Federation want to commemorate this part of history that is becoming eroded by time. The making of this guide is part of the numerous regional, local, provincial, and federal projects that will emerge in the commemoration events from 2014 to 2018, as as many actions against oblivion: exhibitions, shows, activities for the youth, educational trips, etc. In decades to come, the memory of those, known and unknown, who died for peace, will be honored. It is for this same peace that the Province of Namur is mobilizing now. The provincial College INTRODUCTION Between 1914 and 1945, Europe experiences one of the most tragic episodes in its history.

  • Cambridge, Belgium, London Cambridge Gota Was One Of
Group No: CBL1 & CBL3 Destination: Cambridge, Belgium, London Cambridge Gota was one of the best trips ever planned my IIPM. Not only was it a great experience for students but also for faculties. The trip started with the meeting with European parliament and our own IMI hostel facility. European parliament informed our students about all important facts and figures w.r.t European Union. The second day was Port of Antwerp and coca cola which took the entire trip to touch new heights of intellect and experience. The port of Antwerp which is one of the largest in the world left our students wondering and dumbfounded. It was sheer excellence to manage such massive business. Not only the port even the coca cola factory was an experience of sorts. We got to know some interesting facts about coke. For ex: to make one bottle of coke they need 2.25 liters of water. The quiz and the video really left us speechless. The second half of the trip took us to Cambridge (Judge Business School). Six days of hardcore academics and really intellectually stimulating subjects. If it was general management, marketing management or global economy all these subjects were taught with utmost expertise and prowess. In six days a complete overhauling of knowledge test of intellect transformed all the students into global MBAs. Such an experience comes only with lot of effort and planning. With due respects to the entire fraternity behind this GOTA deserves lot kudos and encomium. Group No: CBL10 Destination: Cambridge University+ IMI, Brussels The global opportunities and threat analysis educational trip to UK and Belgium was a memorable experience.
