Lawrence Bay Lodge on Reindeer Lake, Saskatchewan Lawrence Bay Airways & Outposts 2020 www.lawrencebay.com 701-262-4560 www.lawrencebay.com • 701-262-4560 Original Lodge built in 1971. Lodge today, 2020. OUR 50TH YEAR I owe a lot of our success at Lawrence Bay Lodge to my late wife, Verdean, who stuck by me in the early, lean years and supported all my crazy ideas. Our success in the future will be on the shoulders of my son and daughter, working with me. They have both grown up at Lawrence Bay Lodge and together have more experience in the business than anyone I know. By initiating catch and release in 1981, we have insured our fantastic fishing for the future. Quality of fishing at Lawrence Bay Lodge is as good now as it was in 1971. Thanks to our wonderful guests and excellent staff that have helped make this all possible. Your Hosts, Mindy, Phil and Randy www.lawrencebay.com • 701-262-4560 WHY CHOOSE LAWRENCE BAY LODGE FOR YOUR FISHING & HUNTING CAMP? Reindeer Lake is one of the most productive lakes in the north because it drains a very large portion of northeast Saskatchewan and northwest Manitoba; consequently the food source for gamefish is very good, better than most of the smaller lakes. The proof is in the fish! At Reindeer Lake and the surrounding outpost camps, you will find that the Northern Pike, Lake Trout, and Walleyes in our area are very heavy for their length, with the smaller heads and large stocky bodies. The lakes in our area have a large number of islands with many bays and large wood flats for big Northern Pike. We also have the rocky points and deep waters for the Lake Trout. Reindeer Lake gets up to 760 feet deep. We practice a very strict program to ensure that the larger fish are returned to the lake. Typically, Northern Pike and Lake Trout over 6-7 lbs. are returned. I have never seen more big Northern Pike caught than what we have caught and released the last 5 seasons. Our guests were catching Pike up to 53” long and a very large number of Northern Pike from 40”-49” long. For great fishing, it doesn’t get any better. To make all this quality and quantity work for you, the guest, we have hired and kept the best fishing guides in the area, the key to you experiencing your best fishing trip!!! Lawrence Bay Lodge also has two floatplanes which gives us access to remote lakes for a day trip of walleye fishing, outpost camps, and moose hunting. We are the largest moose outfitter in Saskatchewan and hunt during the peak of the rut. With the quality of fishing, excellent equipment, great guides, and the diversity of float planes (with fly-in fishing), we know Lawrence Bay Lodge is the very best at delivering a perfect fishing trip. We have the experience and versatility to make this your best trip ever! www.lawrencebay.com • 701-262-4560 www.lawrencebay.com • 701-262-4560 RELEASING FISH We have practiced a modified catch and release program at our camp for over thirty years. We return all large fish. All the large fish you see in this brochure were released! The fish that we send home with you are some of the smaller ones. Keeper fish are 3-6 lb. Northerns, 3-7 lb. Lake Trout, and 2-5 lb. Walleyes. We are positive that sending a few of the smaller fish home to eat has done nothing harmful to our water. What it has done is enhanced the trip for all fishermen. Once again in 2019, we proved our catch and release program is working well. The quality of fish continues to get better. We caught more than 1600 fish over 40 inches. Eighty percent of our guests caught fish from 18-35 lbs. (40-53 inches). We also had a few over 35 lbs. - alive and well, thanks to the people who released the monsters. Big Lake, Great Guide, Good Equipment = Big Fish! GEAR Gear should include a casting or spinning outfit with 8 to 20 lb. monafiliment. Fly rods are also very productive for big Northern Pike. Rain gear is a good idea. Temperatures average 68 degrees to 84 degrees in June, July and August, with September temperatures in the mid-50’s. Tackle and license are available at the Lodge. Likely your best chance at a Trophy Northern Pike! www.lawrencebay.com • 701-262-4560 TACKLE Over the last few years some of the new tackle, along with some old standbys, have been tried and proven to be very successful. Some of the new, hot stuff has been the Slugo type baits, the large single hook soft plastic lures. The floating lures have been excellent, all the Rapala’s and Heddon’s. Bucktails are back, too. You walleye guys still need the jigs and cranks. Those of you who are used to fishing the bottom with slip sinkers or rigs will catch big Walleye. The lake trout hit very good on deep diving lures - big bills - odd colors, trout like iron. Bass fishermen, bring the whole tackle box, bass lures work great for Northern Pike. Fly Rods = Big Northerns. Fish and hunt the far north At its very best . fighting, cold water Northern Pike, Lake Trout, Arctic Grayling and Walleye! Sub-arctic fishing with complete modern accommodations and First-Class equipment. www.lawrencebay.com • 701-262-4560 www.lawrencebay.com • 701-262-4560 First class equipment A TYPICAL DAY AT LAWRENCE BAY LODGE A typical day at Lawrence Bay Lodge includes one of our staff members waking you up with your choice of a steaming cup of coffee or hot chocolate in your cabin at 6:30 a.m. After getting ready in the morning, breakfast is served at the main lodge at 7 a.m. Once you have eaten a hearty breakfast, we will introduce you to your guide and send you off for a great day of fishing by 8 a.m. After a wonderful morning of fishing, the guide will prepare a tasty shore lunch for you at mid-day (with the fresh fish that you have just caught that morning), which is to many, their favorite part of the day. Once the afternoon fishing is complete (or you get tired of catching too many big fish), you will return to the lodge between 5 and 5:30 p.m. where you can rest, relax, and tell fish stories about the big fish (that didn’t get away) with other guests until it is time to eat again for supper at 7 p.m. in the main lodge. Once the evening meal is completed you may take a boat out by yourself close to the Lodge or just relax around the lodge or your cabin and anticipate the next day of fishing.
