FACT SHEET The Project The (Interstate 5) HOV/Widening and Rosecrans and Bloomfield Avenue Bridges Project extends from Shoemaker Avenue to Silverbow Avenue in Norwalk. The project will widen 1.2 miles of I-5 to add one High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV), carpool lane, and one general- purpose lane in each direction. Three bridges at Shoemaker, Rosecrans and Bloomfield avenues, and a pedestrian overcrossing at Silverbow Avenue will be reconstructed to accommodate a wider freeway. The project includes shoulder widening, concrete median barriers, new ramp designs and realignment to Firestone Boulevard frontage road.

Summary The Rosecrans/Bloomfield Bridges Project is the third project to begin construction as part of the I-5 South Corridor Improvement Projects from the /Orange County Project Costs line to the San Gabriel River Freeway (I-605). Motorists can $214 million (M) funded by State and local resources: expect to see four construction zones for the various State Proposition 1B (2006): Corridor Mobility Improvement segments at Alondra Blvd., Carmenita Rd., Rosecrans Ave. Account: $146.9M and /Pioneer Blvd. A fifth segment, the Transportation Congestion Relief Program: $.78M Interchange Project will begin construction Regional Improvement Program: $10.6M by late 2013.
