FOREWORD

The International Association for the Advancement of High Pressure Science and Technology (AIRAPT) has been meeting once every two years since 1955. Originating in the seminal findings of Prof. P. W. Bridgman, high pressure science has taken an increasingly important role in a wide range of fields such as physics, chemistry, materials science, earth & planetary science, natural resources & the environment , energy,biology, food science, etc. leading to new forefronts of interdisciplinary research that provide new knowledge of nature as well as driving sustainable development of our society. The Asian Conference on High Pressure Research (ACHPR) has convened scientists every second year since the 2000 meeting in Dunhuang of China (1st), followed by Nara of Japan (2nd), Lijiang of China (3rd), Seoul of Korea (4th), Matsue of Japan (5th), Beijing of China (6th) and Bangkok of Thailand (7th). ACHPR originates from the early bilateral meetings between China and Japan on high pressure science in 1990s. ACHPR expressly offers a forum for the high pressure research community in Asia as well as for international researchers. The China High Pressure Conference (CHPC) debuted in 1978 and is held every two years, providing a platform to share the progress in high pressure research in China.

AIRAPT 26 will be staged in combination with both ACHPR 8 and CHPC 19. We really feel honored to invite you to attend the three together. We are doing our best to make the conference productive, encouraging and inspiring.

Come to share your research updates with the community around the world, as well as to enjoy Beijing: a beautiful modern city with a long history and rich culture! Looking forward to meeting you in Beijing in August 2017!

Oral Presentation Guidelines Plenary talk: 40 min. Keynote/ Invited talk: 30 min (subjected to change for some FS) Contributed talk: 15 min

Presentation preparation Each meeting room comes equipped with two computers, one projector, one screen, and a laser pointer. The computers will be configured with Windows 7 Operating System as well as with Microsoft Office (2010 or above) and Adobe Acrobat Reader (9.0 or above). Please bring your presentation files in Thumb drives only. For MAC laptop users, please bring your own VGA adapter cable.

Prepare Your Talk Length of presentation material should be in accordance with your time allotted. Total duration including discussions is 15 minutes for each contributed talk and up to 30 minutes (subjected to change for some focus topic sessions) for each keynote/invited speaker and 40 minutes for each plenary lecturer. The discussion time is 5 mins for plenary/keynote/invited talk and 3 mins for contributed talk. Please refer to the Program Book for actual presentation schedules. You are kindly requested to be at the presentation room at least 15 minutes before the session starts.

Creat a Backup We recommend that you bring at least two copies of your presentation with one PPT version and one PDF version to the meeting for backup purposes. Thumb drives are acceptable. Be considerate to the other speakers and audience by staying within your allocated time. The allocated time for your presentation includes a discussion and a changeover to the next speaker. Session Chairs will hold you to the allotted time. This is essential to ensure adequate time for questions and discussions as well as adherence to the schedule. Please discuss the same material as reported in your paper submission. At the end of the meeting, all presentation files will be deleted from the public computers in the conference rooms

Poster Presentation Guidelines Presentation time: The poster session is scheduled between 13:30 and 15:30 on Sunday (August 20th) at the first floor South Foyer (1F 南大堂) (please see the maps below). Your assigned poster board will be marked with the number (Please see the book of abstracts). Please feel free to approach the help desk for assistance. Posters should be set up one day before the poster session.

Prepare Your Poster Each presenter is provided with a 2.4 metre high by 1 metre wide poster panel. Please discuss the same material as reported in your abstract submission. The suggested Vertical/Portrait A0 format is: 841 mm width x 1189 mm height. 1. Place your Paper Title and Authors‘ names prominently at the top of the poster to allow viewers to identify your paper easily.

Route 1: The Great Wall at Badaling(八达岭长城风景名胜区) The Great Wall at Badaling was built along the ridges of mountains, looking precipitous from the external wall but gently sloped from the internal wall. It is a section of the Great Wall opened earliest to tourists and receives the largest number of tourists. In the six decades since it opened, the Great Wall at Badaling scenic spot, on behalf of the Great Wall of China, was conferred with the World Cultural Heritage license by UNESCO. In 2007, in the appraisal of the world‘s new seven wonders, Great Wall maintained its top position because of its extensive and profound history and culture, and unprecedented prestige in the world.

Route 2: The Forbidden City (故宫)

The palace has been burnt down, rebuilt, sacked and renovated countless times, so most of the architecture you can see today dates from the 1700‘s and onwards. Altogether there are 9,999.5 rooms in the Museum, not all of which can be visited. The Forbidden City was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987. Tips: In order to preserve the World Heritage Site and guarantee a better visiting experience, the Forbidden City is limiting the daily number of visitors to 80,000. If you choose this route, please provide your valid IDs and passport numbers so that we can register and book tickets online in advance. On the day of visit, please bring your valid ID cards or passports in case of random admission checks.

Route 3: The Summer Palace (颐和园) The Summer Palace is the largest and most well-preserved royal garden in China. The park greatly influences Chinese horticulture and landscape with its famous natural views and cultural interests, which also has long history since been recognized as The Museum of Royal Gardens. Construction started in 1750 as a luxurious royal garden for royal families to rest and entertain. It later became the main residence of royal members towards the end of the Qing Dynasty. It ranked amongst the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1998.

8. Weather The climate in Beijing is ―continental‖, with cold and dry winters, due to the Siberian air masses that move southward across the Mongolian Plateau. Summers are generally hot owing to warm and humid monsoon winds from the southeast bringing Beijing most of its annual precipitation. Middle August is comfortable in Beijing and the average temperature ranges from 20-32 degree.
