Gorillaz: il nuovo album "The Now Prodotto dagli stessi Gorillaz, con James Ford e Remi Kabaka, è stato Now" esce il 29 giugno registrato interamente allo Studio 13 di Londra a febbraio di quest'anno. Online il video di "Humility" Nella registrazione di THE NOW NOW la band ha evitato le collaborazioni con delle guest star, preferendo riportare il tutto al gruppo creativo originale: alla voce il tenero sognatore dai capelli blu, 2D; alla chitarra la sfrontata ed insolente giapponesina, NOODLE; alla batteria il filosofo di CRISTIAN PEDRAZZINI Brooklyn e inventore di suoni RUSSEL HOBBS. E con Murdoc Niccals momentaneamente fuori gioco, nel nuovo album il basso è stato affidato al membro della Gangreen Gang ACE (la Gangreen Gang è un gruppo di attacca-briga dalla pelle verde, rivali delle Superchicche). When James Ford and Jas Shaw met at Manchester University in the late 1990s, they never imagined they'd end up creating a human synthesiser. But in their very earliest musical experiments together, something was set in motion which would lead to one of the most unusual careers in British music: one which has seen their creative mission transform again and again, inventing entirely new formats for music-making along the way. So perhaps the weaving of rich layers of human vocal tonalities sung by The Deep Throat Choir into the techno framework of their fifth studio album Murmurations isn't quite such an unexpected turn of events. In fact, they've been connecting the human voice with electronic sound since they first founded the band Simian with Simon Lord and Alex McNaughten. Simian was, in Jas's words, about “trying to show you could make band music with songs and harmonies but be into Autechre too". Named after "Simeon", the home-made early synth rig of early electronic experimentalists The Silver Apples, the band combined Crosby, Stills & Nash harmonies with hypnotic Krautrock rhythms, cosmic analogue synthesiser swooshes and an unmistakeable clubber's sense of groove - and somehow in the middle of all that managed to find something extraordinarily accessible. They were signed to a major label subsidiary in 2000, and made two albums that stand up in their own right now. But, Jas continues, it was "just at the moment the world was into the Strokes and White Stripes and straight-ahead rock music," and their rich, baroque tapestries of song and sound didn't reach the audience their ambition and beauty deserved.

However, before Obama’s election, a black American president had already appeared in popular culture, especially in comedic and sci-fi/disaster films and television series. Thus far, scholars have tread lightly on fictional black presidents in popular culture; however, those who have tend to suggest that these presidents—and the apparent unimportance of their race in these films—are evidence of the post-racial nature of these texts. However, this dissertation argues the contrary. This study’s contention is that, though the black president appears in films and televisions series in which his presidency is presented as evidence of a post-racial America, he actually fails to transcend race. Instead, these black cinematic presidents reaffirm race’s primacy in American culture through consistent portrayals and continued involvement in comedies and disasters. In order to support these assertions, this study first constructs a critical history of the fears of a black presidency, tracing those fears from this nation’s formative years to the present.

Den brittiska virtuella gruppen Gorillaz är tillbaka med nytt album! ”The Now Now” består av elva nya låtar och spelades in i februari tidigare i år på välkända Studio 13 i London. Albumet har Gorillaz producerat tillsammans med James Ford och Remi Kabaka. ”The Now Now” präglas starkt av Gorillaz ursprung och endast ett fåtal gästartister syns i låtlistan. Gruppen består av de tidigare karaktärerna 2D (sång), Noodle (gitarr) och Russel Hobbs (trummor) med ett undantag från Murdoc Niccals (bas)somsitter fängslad, på bas syns istället den nya karaktären Ace från Gangreen Gang. “Humility” är den första låten från det kommande albumet och släpps samtidigt som musikvideon, i den medverkar Jack Black och en rullskridskoåkande 2D.
