They are composed of feature productions with well-known actors, and short subjects which consist of musicals, cartoons, sports, comedies, travels and miscellaneous films. A number of these are in color. We have particularly stressed pictures suitable for schools, churches and general audiences, but in addition have added a number of programs which will appeal more to mature groups. Pictures marked (*) have been approved by THE NATIONAL BOARD OF REVIEW and/or THE LEGION OF DECENCY as partic- ularly suited for Family, Church or School presentation. Feature pictures marked have been approved by a selected committee of experienced reviewers as suitable for general audiences. * Many features that have neither nor <S> have been released too recently for evaluation. Clergymen, teachers and others contemplating motion pic- ture entertainment are cordially invited to our studios to preview our pictures and arrange their programs. GENERAL INFORMATION ON RENTING When ordering, it is advisable to name two or three alter- nate selections to be sure that you get something desired in case the original selection is not available. Major subjects, which are available for CCC camps and shut-in institutions, must be approved for locations. We sug- gest that you book these pictures sufficiently in advance to allow for the additional time needed to secure such approvals. There is no surcharge for time lost in transit. Shipping charges both ways must be paid by the customer. Return shipment must be made promptly on the day following the scheduled showing. An overtime charge will be made on the regular daily base rate for every day overdue. Please do not rewind the films after projection. The customer is at all times held responsible for damaged film. When writing, please indicate your title, whether church, school or road showman, the make model of the projector you use and whether you are interested primarily in sound or silent films. Be sure the film gates of your projector are clean before each program of films is run. It is important that only an experienced and responsible person project the film. Films shipped back by express directly from the customer to us are returnable at 50% of the outgoing express rate. Be sure to state that your return shipments are direct returns and save on express charges. PRICES Rental and sale prices will be sent on request. II FEATURE PICTURES Code Word -ADVENTUROUS KNIGHTS 6 reels, sound The Kids of "Our Gang Comedies" have grown up, and in this picUure David Sharpe, Mickey Daniels, Gertrude Messinger and Mary Kornman present a pretty little Graustarkian romance. Plenty of action, comedy and music. APRIL ROMANCE 8 reels, sound Vienna of the 1820's. The romance of the great musi- cian, Franz Schubert and his songs. The story is based on incidents in the life of the immortal composer, whose career was back- grounded by his unrequited love for a dancing master's daughter for whose happi- ness he sacrificed himself. It is richly produced and costumed, and five Schubert songs are sung by the golden voice of Richard Tauber. April Romance ATLANTIC FLIGHT 8 reels, sound Dick Merrill, one of the world's famous aviators, plays the starring role in this thrilling action story of the skyways. In the supporting cast are Jack Lambie, Merrill's co-pilot in his Coronation Atlantic flight, and Paula Stone. A series of exciting events lead up to the big day of the cup race in which Merrill's rival is a baron whom Paula has promised to marry if he wins the race. To insure victory, the baron blackjacks Merrill. When Merrill fails to arrive, the owner of the plane attempts to take his place in the race, comes down in a tailspin, and is severely injured. Merrill makes a daring flight to obtain the serum needed to save his life and events move to a happy conclusion. *THE AVENGER 7 reels, sound Ralph Forbes, Adrienne Ames and a great cast tell the story of the unique methods used by a district attorney to remove the stigma of crime from his name. BEAUTY PARLOR 7 reels, sound Novel entertainment, showing the problems of three girls who work in a Beauty Parlor. Barbara Kent, Joyce Compton and Mischa Auer are just a few of the members of the competent cast. *BEGGARS IN ERMINE 7 reels, sound This novel by Esther Lynd Day is picturized by a cast headed by Lionel Atwill, Betty Furness, Henry B. Walthall, Jamieson Thomas and Astrid Allyn. 1 FEATURE PICTURES Code Word Xalias BAREFOOT BOY 7 reels, sound Glorifying the American boy is the business of this film. It is a story of youth and its high code of honor. How he accom- plishes this, and their ad- ventures in the "haunted house," make a thrilling story. The cast includes Jackie Moran, Ralph Morgan, Marcia Mae Jones and Claire Windsor. Actual 0BEHIND THE GREEN LIGHTS 7 reels, sound Norman Foster, Judith Allen and Sidney Blackmer in a picture suggested by a New York police captain's best selling book. Friendly enemies in the court room sweethearts outside that is the in ; drama-packed situation which Judith Allen, playing a brilliant woman attorney and dynamic Norman Foster, as an ambitious young detective find themselves. Abate *BLACK BEAUTY. .7 reels, sound Only once in many years is such a picture produced, and rarely, if ever, has such a one been offered for 16 mm. showing. Anna Sewell's book is followed closely in this picture and a marvelous cast of human and animal actors present this great comedy-drama of a man's love for his horse. Xalibi BLACK EYES 8 reels, sound (Available after May 1940) Petrov, wishing to bring his daughter up in luxury, lets her believe he is a business man and not a head waiter. Tania, his daughter, rebels against her sheltered existence and quarrels with her father, almost wrecking her life. How they become reconciled and she finds true happiness constitute an ab- sorbing story. Otto Kruger, Mary Maguire, John Wood and Walter Rilla are starred. Align BLAZING BARRIERS 8 reels, sound The authentic Civilian Conservation Corps forms the background for this story of two wayward youths who are made to see their mistakes through the aid of the CCC camp. An action picture packed with thrills, romance and climaxed by a thrilling forest fire. It was made with the official cooper- ation of the United States Civilian Conservation Corps and the United States Forest Service, Department of Agriculture. FEATURE PICTURES Code Word Xalien BLACK LIMELIGHT 8 reels, sound (Available after July 1940) Black Limelight The Film Daily reviewed this picture as "A very absorbing murder mystery, intelligently plotted, with some surprise twists and an abundance of suspense. A girl is murdered at a beach bungalow and the evidence points to Raymond Massey who has disappeared right after the crime. Even his wife is almost convinced, tho she sticks by him loyally. How the wife cleverly pieces to- gether wisps of evidence to pin the crime on the guilty person, and how she barely escapes being murdered, make an exciting drama." Raymond Massey is ably supported by Joan Marion and Walter Hudd. Acumen -BORN TO GAMBLE 8 reels, sound H. B. Warner, Onslow Stevens and Eric Linden in an outstandingly good show for every member of the family. Changes in the American scene from 1865 to the present, form an interesting phase in this picture which shows three generations fighting an inherited taint of gambling. Alight -BOY OF THE STREETS.
