Curtis was bevriend met Wallace en was 19 jaar lang zijn secretaris, tikte de in een dictafoon gesproken woorden op papier en kamde de manuscripten uit op vergissingen. Na de dood van Wallace werkte hij enkele in concept liggende boeken verder uit en bewerkte toneelstukken van Wallace tot boeken. detective: Mr. J(ohn) G. Reeder Mr. Reeder werkt voor het bureau van de Openbare Aanklager, Scotland Yard en voor de Banker's Trust. Hij is van middelbare leeftijd, uiterlijk zachtmoedig, niet-emotioneel en zonder aanmatiging is hij een Victoriaan in zijn optreden en manieren. Hij heeft bakkebaarden, draagt een pince-nez, een ouderwetse dophoed en heeft, weer of geen weer, altijd een opgevouwen parapluie bij zich. Maar zulke overduidelijke buitennissigheden zijn bedriegelijk want de knop van de parapluie bevat een mes en hij draagt ook een revolver bij zich. Zijn schijnbaar onschuldige uiterlijk logenstraft zijn vermogen om meedogenloos te zijn als de situatie daarom vraagt. Reeder is geen zwakkeling, ondanks zijn neiging tot meditatie, geduldige manier van optreden en filosoferen. Deze attributen camoufleren zijn vasthoudendheid en hoe gevaarlijk hij is als hij boosdoeners in het nauw brengt. Zijn vermogen om diefstallen op te lossen, zijn oog voor bedrog en zijn vermogen zich te identificeren met de geest van de misdadiger (hij beweert zelf meerdere malen dat hij een criminele geest heeft) maken hem bijzonder geschikt voor het oplossen van gesloten kamer mysteries en andere misdaden. detective: detective sergeant, later inspecteur Elk detective: superintendent "Sooper" Patrick J.Minter ; commissaris T.B. Til marks um vinsældir hans, þá vildi einn útgefandi bóka hans meina að fjórðungur allra bóka sem lesnar voru á Englandi á þriðja áratug 20. aldar væru eftir hann. Með þekktum bókum eftir Wallace má nefna The Four Just Men, The Ringer og The Door with the Seven Locks (Dyrnar með lásunum sjö). Edgar Wallace fæddist í London 1. apríl árið 1875. Foreldrar hans voru leikarar, Richard Horatio Edgar (sem vissi reyndar aldrei af tilvist hans) og Mary Jane Blair. Mary hafði misst mann sinn árið 1868 og átti eina dóttur fyrir þegar hún varð ófrísk af Edgar eiginlega fyrir slysni. Störfuðu þau Richard bæði hjá sama leikflokki sem rekinn var af móður Richards. Til að forðast hneyksli lét Mary engan vita af óléttunni og fékk leyfi um tíma frá hópnum til að geta eignast barnið í kyrrþey. Bað hún ljósmóðurina sem stundaði hana að finna fyrir sig fólk sem væri tilbúið að fóstra soninn strax eftir fæðingu gegn greiðslum.

    Amicus est une production cinématographique britannique basée à Shepperton Studios en Angleterre. Elle a été fondée par le producteur et scénariste américain Milton Subotsky et Max Rosenberg . Amicus est mieux connu pour ces films d’horreurs d’anthologies, bien que leurs deux premiers films étaient des comédies musicales pour le marché des adolescents : C'est Trad, papa! (1962) et Just for Fun (1963). Toutefois, avant la création d'Amicus les deux producteurs avaient collaborés à un film d’horreur de 1960 La Cité des morts. Ces films sont généralement dotés de quatre, parfois cinq histoires d'horreur reliées les unes aux autres par une intrigue globale avec un narrateur et ceux qui écoutent son histoire. Ces films sont invariablement interprétés par des acteurs de renom, chacun d'entre eux jouant de petits rôles dans les différentes histoires. Ainsi on retrouve des stars tels que Peter Cushing , Christopher Lee et Herbert Lom , Amicus fait également appel à des acteurs de la scène britannique classique ( Patrick Magee , Margaret 1 Leighton et même Sir Ralph Richardson ), mais aussi à ( Donald Sutherland , Robert Powell et Tom Baker ), ou d'anciennes gloires comme ( Richard Greene , Robert Hutton , et Terry Thomas ). Certaines, comme Joan Collins , connaissaient une perte de vitesse dans leur carrière quand ils ont signé avec Amicus. Torture Garden et The House That Dripped Blood ont été écrits par Robert Bloch , basé sur ses propres histoires. The Skull était auparavant également basé sur une histoire de Robert Bloch (scénarisé par Milton Subotsky), et Robert Bloch était aussi le scénariste du Psychopathe et l'adaptateur de The Bees Deadly.
