Resumption of the session The sitting opened at 17.05. 2. Approval of the minutes of the previous sitting Werner Langen had been present but his name did not appear on the attendance register. The minutes of the previous sitting were approved. 3. Statements by the President The President expressed Parliament’s support for recent developments in Egypt and called on the governments in the region to open up to dialogue with their citizens, to stop harassing peaceful demon­ strators and to abolish the state of emergency. He called for the European Union to show solidarity with these countries. He affirmed the need for the European Union to come to the assistance of countries faced with an influx of migrants. He said that 12 February 2011 had been the International Day against the Use of Child Soldiers and recalled Parliament’s commitment to this cause. Finally, he reported that in Iran, many executions had been carried out since the beginning of the year, and he called on the Iranian government to impose a moratorium on the death penalty before eventually abolishing it. 2.6.2011 EN Official Journal of the European Union C 164 E/3 Monday 14 February 2011 4. Signature of acts adopted under the ordinary legislative procedure The President announced that on Wednesday, together with the President of the Council, he would sign the following acts adopted under the ordinary legislative procedure (Rule 74): — Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the citizens’ initiative (00065/2010/LEX - C7-0043/2011 - 2010/0074(COD)) — Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down the rules and general principles concerning mechanisms for control by Member States of the Commission’s exercise of implementing powers (00064/2010/LEX - C7-0042/2011 - 2010/0051(COD)) — Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the rights of passengers in bus and coach transport and amending Regulation (EC) No 2006/2004 (00063/2010/LEX - C7-0041/2011 - 2008/0237(COD)) — Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on combating late payment in commercial transactions (recast) (00057/2010/LEX - C7-0040/2011 - 2009/0054(COD)) 5. Composition of committees and delegations The President had received the following requests for appointments from the PPE and Verts/ALE Groups: Delegation for relations with Iraq: Jan Philipp Albrecht to replace Jill Evans Delegation for relations with Japan: Agnès Le Brun The appointments would be deemed ratified if there were no objections before the approval of these minutes. 6. Ebenfalls im Rahmen des PEN: Mitwirkung am Bürgerdialog mit dem Bayeri- schen Staatsminister für Bundes- und Europaangelegenheiten Dr. Florian Herrmann im Prinz-Carl-Palais: Europa-Diskussion mit Schülern und Lehrlingen. Weitere Kooperationspartner waren die Vertretung des Europäischen Parlaments in München, die Landeszentrale für politische Bildungsarbeit, die Europäische Akademie Bayern, das Europe Direct Informationszentrum München und das Centrum für an- gewandte Politikforschung, LMU. Im Februar Podiumsdiskussion „Europa in Bayern – Bayern in Europa“ im ASZ Lehel in Kooperation mit der Europäischen Akademie Bayern, der Landeszentrale und dem Europe Direct Informationszentrum: Diskussion von Mitgliedern des Europaaus- schusses des Bayerischen Landtags mit Erstwählern. Im März Vortragsabend mit dem Bundesminister für Wirtschaft und Energie Peter Alt- maier, MdB (CDU) bei Giesecke+Devrient zum Thema „Deutschland und Euro- pa in einer Welt des Wandels“ . Es handelte sich um eine Kooperation mit der Aka- demie für Politische Bildung, der Europäischen Akademie Bayern, der Griechischen Akademie, den Jungen Europäischen Föderalisten und der Deutsch-Hellenischen Wirtschaftsvereinigung. Mitwirkung im Rahmen des PEN am „Bürgerdialog: Stammtisch Europa“ mit den Stadträten Sonja Haider (ÖDP) und Thomas Ranft (FDP) und zudem an dem „Bür- gerdialog: Stammtisch Europa“ mit Maria Noichl, MdEP (SPD) und Prof. Klaus Buchner, MdEP (ÖDP), jeweils im Gasteig und in Kooperation mit Europe Direct.
