About the Camas Wind Quintet

Named for a native Northwest flower, the Camas Wind Quintet is a resident professional chamber ensemble of Pacific Lutheran University, where it performs regularly in the Regency Concert Series. In addition, since its organization in 1979, the quintet has performed throughout the Northwest. It is recognized as one of the outstanding professional chamber ensembles of the area.

About the Performers

Jennifer Rhyne, flute, is Assistant Professor of Flute and Music Theory at Pacific Lutheran University. She is a member of Symphony Tacoma, the IWO Flute Quartet, and director of the Tacoma Flute Choir. She performs frequently with ensembles such as Vashon , the Blessed Sacrament Church Baroque , the Northwest Sinfonietta as well as on recital and chamber music series in the region. Rhyne is serving as the Assistant Program Chair for the 2017 National Flute Association’s Convention in Minneapolis. She holds degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory, the University of Michigan, and Stony Brook University.

Shannon Spicciati, oboe, enjoys an active performance and teaching career in the Seattle metropolitan area. She has played extensively with the Seattle Symphony and Seattle Opera on oboe and English horn, and has been featured as soloist with SSO on two occasions, performing Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto #2 and William Bergsma’s “In Campo Aperto”. She has performed with the Oregon Symphony, Oregon Ballet Theatre orchestra, Northwest Sinfonietta, Tacoma Symphony and numerous other ensembles. Ms. Spicciati, with flutist Donna Shin, performed a recital for the National Flute Assn. convention in Kansas City in 2008, and have toured and performed together around the Pacific Northwest. Recently, Ms. Shin and Ms. Spicciati performed their own arrangement of the National Anthem for a Tacoma Rainiers baseball game. She has participated in many festivals, including the Icicle Creek Music Festival in Leavenworth, WA, the Marrowstone Music Festival and the Schlossfestspiele in Heidelberg, Germany.

Craig Rine, clarinet, is an Affiliate Artist and Lecturer at Pacific Lutheran University. Mr. Rine is currently principal clarinet of the Northwest Sinfonietta and the Tacoma Symphony. Since moving to the Pacific Northwest in 1988 he has worked extensively with the Seattle Symphony, Seattle Opera, Pacific Northwest Ballet, the Northwest Chamber Orchestra and the Auburn Symphony. In addition, Mr. Rine teaches band at Curtis Junior High School.

Francine Peterson, bassoon, is an Affiliate Artist and Lecturer at Pacific Lutheran University. She is a member of the Northwest Chamber Orchestra and the Northwest Sinfonietta. Mrs. Peterson is an active freelance player in the Puget Sound area performing with the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, the Seattle Symphony, the Seattle Opera, and the Fifth Avenue Theatre. She has performed with the Philadelphia String Quartet and has appeared on the Second City Chamber Music Series. She is a coach for the Seattle Symphony and maintains a large private studio.

Rodger Burnett, horn, received his Master of Music degree from the University of Washington. He currently plays the principal horn with the Pacific Northwest Ballet and the Northwest Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Burnett has played with the Seattle Symphony and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and plays regularly with the Seattle Opera.

Oksana Ezhokina, piano, appears frequently on concert series across the United States and abroad. She has soloed with the Seattle Symphony, Symphony Tacoma, Olympia Symphony and St. Petersburg Philharmonic, and performed at numerous distinguished venues in the US. She has premiered works by Marilyn Shrude, Laura Kaminsky, Wayne Horvitz, Bern Herbolsheimer, and has been featured on multiple live radio broadcasts on WFMT-Chicago, KUOW and KING FM in Seattle, and Maine Public Radio. Oksana is the pianist of the Volta Piano Trio, whose recordings for the Con Brio label received accolades in The Strad, Gramophone, and American Record Guide. A sought-after teacher, she is Chair of Piano Studies and Associate Professor of Piano at PLU. For the last fifteen years, she has been an integral part of the Icicle Creek Center for the Arts in her capacity as Artistic Director of several flagship classical music programs.
