First Portion Numbers Chapter 8

א ַו ְי ַד ֵ ֥בּר ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ֶאל־מ ֶ ֥שׁה ֵלּ ֽ ֹאמר: :The Lord spoke to , saying .1

ב ַדּ ֵבּ ֙ר ֶא ַ ֽל־א ֲה ֔רֹן ְו ָ ֽא ַמְר ָ ֖תּ ֵא ָ ֑ליו ְבּ ַ ֽה ֲﬠ ֽ ְת ֙ ,Speak to and say to him: "When you light the lamps .2 ֶאת ַ־ה ֵנּ ֔רֹת ֶא ֙ל־מוּל ְפֵּ ֣ני ַה ְמּ ָ ֔נוֹרה ָי ִ ֖אירוּ ִשׁ ְב ַ ֥ﬠת the seven lamps shall cast their light toward the face of the ַה ֵנּֽרוֹת: ".menorah

ג ַוַיּ֤ ַﬠשׂ ֵ ֙כּן ַ ֽא ֲה ֔רֹן ֶא ֙ל־מוּל ְפֵּ ֣ני ַה ְמּ ָ ֔נוֹרה ֶ ֽה ֱﬠ ָ ֖לה Aaron did so; he lit the lamps toward the face of the .3

ֵ ֽנרֹ ֶ ֑ת ָיה ַ ֽכּ ֲא ֶ ֛שׁר ִצָ ֥וּה ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ֶאת־מ ֶ ֽשׁה: .menorah, as the Lord had commanded Moses

ד ְו ֶ֨זה ַ ֽמ ֲﬠ ֵ ֤שׂה ַה ְמּ ֹנָר ֙ה ִמ ְק ָ ֣שׁה ָז ָ֔הב ַﬠד־ ְיֵר ָ ֥כהּ ,This was the form of the menorah: hammered work of gold .4 from its base to its flower it was hammered work; according to ַﬠ ִד־פְּר ָ ֖חהּ ִמ ְק ָ ֣שׁה ִ ֑הוא ַכּ ַמְּר ֶ֗אה ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ֶהְר ָ ֤אה ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ֶאת־מ ֶ֔שׁה ֵ ֥כּן ָﬠ ָ ֖שׂה ֶאת ַ־ה ְמּ ֹנָ ֽרה: the form that the Lord had shown Moses, so did he construct the menorah.

ה ַו ְי ַד ֵ ֥בּר ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ֶאל־מ ֶ ֥שׁה ֵלּ ֽ ֹאמר: :The Lord spoke to Moses saying .5

ו ַ֚קח ֶאת ַ ֽ־ה ְלִוִ֔יּם ִמ ֖תּוֹ ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֑אל ְו ִֽט ַהְר ָ ֖תּ ֹא ָ ֽתם: Take the from among the children of Israel and .6 cleanse them.

ז ְוכֹה ַ ֽ־ת ֲﬠ ֶ ֤שׂה ָל ֶה ֙ם ְל ַ ֽט ֲהָ ֔רם ַהֵ ֥זּה ֲﬠ ֵל ֶ ֖יהם ֵ ֣מי ַח ָ ֑טּאת :This is what you shall do to them so as to cleanse them .7 sprinkle them with cleansing and pass a razor over all ְו ֶ ֽה ֱﬠ ִ ֤בירוּ ַ֨ת ַﬠ ֙ר ַﬠ ָל־כּל־ ְבּ ָשָׂ ֔רם ְו ִכ ְבּ ֥סוּ ִב ְגֵד ֶ ֖יהם ְו ִה ֶטּ ָ ֽהרוּ: their flesh; then they shall wash their garments and cleanse themselves.

ח ְו ָ ֽל ְק ֙חוּ ַ ֣פּר ֶבּן־ ָבּ ָ֔קר וּ ִ֨מ ְנ ָח ֔תוֹ ֖סֹ ֶלת ְבּ ָ ֣לוּלה ַב ָ ֑שּׁ ֶמן Then they shall take a young bull with its meal offering of .8 וּ ַפר־ ֵשִׁ֥ני ֶבן־ ָבָּ ֖ קר ִתַּ ֥קּח ְל ַח ָ ֽטּאת: fine mingled with oil. And you shall take a second young bull as a offering.

ט ְו ִה ְקַר ְב ָ֙תּ ֶאת ַ ֽ־ה ְלִוִ֔יּם ִל ְפֵ ֖ני ֣ ֹא ֶהל ֵ ֑מוֹﬠד ְו ִ֨ה ְק ַה ְל ָ֔תּ ,You shall bring the Levites in front of the Tent of Meeting .9 ֶאת ָ־כּל־ ֲﬠ ַ ֖דת ְבֵּ ֥ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֽאל: and you shall gather the entire congregation of the children of Israel.

י ְו ִה ְקַר ְב ָ ֥תּ ֶאת ַ ֽ־ה ְלִוִ ֖יּם ִל ְפֵ ֣ני ְי ָ ֑הוֹה ְו ָ ֽס ְמ ֧כוּ You shall bring the Levites before the Lord, and the .10

ְבֵ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֛אל ֶאת־ ְי ֵד ֶ ֖יהם ַﬠ ַ ֽל־ה ְלִוִֽיּם: .children of Israel shall lay their hands upon the Levites

יא ְו ֵה ִנ ֩יף ַ ֽא ֲה ֨רֹן ֶאת ַ ֽ־ה ְלִוִ ֤יּם ְתּנוּ ָפ ֙ה ִל ְפֵ ֣ני ְי ָ ֔הוֹה ֵמ ֵ ֖את Then Aaron shall lift up the Levites as a waving before the .11 ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֑אל ְו ָה֕יוּ ַ ֽל ֲﬠ ֖בֹד ֶאת־ ֲﬠבַֹ ֥דת ְי ָ ֽהוֹה: Lord on behalf of the children of Israel, that they may serve in the Lord's service.

יב ְו ַ ֽה ְלִו ִיּ ֙ם ִי ְס ְמ ֣כוּ ֶאת־ ְי ֵד ֶ֔יהם ַ ֖ﬠל ֣ר ֹאשׁ ַה ָפִּ ֑רים ,The Levites shall lay their hands on the heads of the bulls .12 ַ ֽו ֲﬠ ֵ ֠שׂה ֶאת ָ ֽ־ה ֶא ָ֨חד ַח ָ֜טּאת ְו ֶאת ָ ֽ־ה ֶא ָ ֤חד עֹ ָל ֙ה ַ ֽל ָ ֔יהוֹה and make one as a and one as a to ְל ַכ ֵ ֖פּר ַﬠ ַ ֽל־ה ְלִוִֽיּם: .the Lord, to atone for the Levites

יג ְו ַ ֽה ֲﬠ ַמ ְד ָ֙תּ ֶאת ַ ֽ־ה ְלִוִ֔יּם ִל ְפֵ ֥ני ַ ֽא ֲה ֖רֹן ְו ִל ְפֵ ֣ני ָבָ ֑ניו ,You shall present the Levites before Aaron and his sons .13

ְו ֵ ֽה ַנ ְפ ָ ֥תּ ֹא ָ ֛תם ְתּנוּ ָ ֖פה ַ ֽל ָ ֽיהוֹה: .and lift them as a waving before the Lord

יד ְו ִה ְב ַדּ ְל ָ֙תּ ֶאת ַ ֽ־ה ְלִוִ֔יּם ִמ ֖תּוֹ ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֑אל ְו ָ ֥היוּ ִ ֖לי Thus shall you set apart the Levites from the midst of the .14

ַ ֽה ְלִוִֽיּם: .children of Israel, and the Levites shall become Mine

Second Portion Numbers Chapter 8 טו ְו ַ ֽא ֲחֵר ֵ ֙י־כן ָי ֣בֹאוּ ַ ֽה ְלִוִ֔יּם ַ ֽל ֲﬠ ֖בֹד ֶאת ֣ ֹ־א ֶהל ֵ ֑מוֹﬠד Following this, the Levites shall come to serve in the Tent .15

ְו ִֽט ַהְר ָ ֣תּ ֹא ָ֔תם ְו ֵ ֽה ַנ ְפ ָ ֥תּ ֹא ָ ֖תם ְתּנוּ ָ ֽפה: .of Meeting. You shall cleanse them and lift them as a waving

טז ִכּ֩י ְנ ֻת ִ֨נים ְנ ֻתִ֥נים ֵ֨ה ָמּ ֙ה ִ֔לי ִמ ֖תּוֹ ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֑אל For they are wholly given over to Me from among the .16 ֩ ַתּ ַח ֩ת ִפּ ְטַ ֨רת ָכּ ֶ ֜ל־ר ֶחם ְבּ ֥כוֹר כֹּ ֙ל ִמ ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ֔אל children of Israel; instead of those that open the womb all the ָלַ ֥ ק ְח ִתּי ֹא ָ ֖תם ִֽלי: .firstborn of Israel I have taken them for Myself

יז ִ ֣כּי ִ ֤לי ָכל־ ְבּ ֙כוֹר ִבּ ְבֵ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ֔אל ָ ֽבּ ָאָ ֖דם וּ ַב ְבּ ֵה ָ ֑מה For all the firstborn among the children of Israel are Mine .17 ְבּ֗יוֹם ַהכֹּ ִ ֤תי ָכל־ ְבּ ֙כוֹר ְבּ ֶ ֣אֶרץ ִמ ְצַ ֔ר ִים ִה ְק ַ ֥דּ ְשׁ ִתּי ֹא ָ ֖תם whether man or beast since the day I smote all the firstborn in ִֽלי: .the land of ; I have sanctified them for Myself

יח ָ ֽו ֶאַ ֖קּח ֶאת ַ ֽ־ה ְלִוִ ֑יּם ַ ֥תּ ַחת ָכּל־ ְבּ ֖כוֹר ִבּ ְבֵ ֥ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֽאל: And I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn of .18 the children of Israel.

יט ָ ֽו ֶא ְתּ ָ֨נה ֶאת ַ ֽ־ה ְלִוִ֜יּם ְנ ֻתִ ֣נים | ְל ַ ֽא ֲה ֣רֹן ְוּל ָב ָ֗ניו ִמ ֘תּוֹ I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons .19 ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵאל֒ ַ ֽל ֲﬠ ֞בֹד ֶאת־ ֲﬠבַֹ ֤דת ְבֵּ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵא ֙ל ְבּ ֣ ֹא ֶהל from among the children of Israel, to perform the service for the ֵ֔מוֹﬠד ְוּל ַכ ֵ ֖פּר ַﬠל־ ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֑אל ְו ֨ל ֹא ִֽי ְהֶ֜יה ִבּ ְבֵ ֤ני children of Israel in the Tent of Meeting and to atone on behalf ִי ְשָׂר ֵא ֙ל ֶ֔נ ֶגף ְבֶּ ֥ג ֶשׁת ְבֵּ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֖אל ֶא ַל־ה ֽקֹּ ֶדשׁ: of the children of Israel, so that the children of Israel will not be inflicted with plague when they approach the Sanctuary.

כ ַוַ֨יּ ַﬠשׂ מ ֶ ֧שׁה ְו ַ ֽא ֲה ֛רֹן ְו ָכל־ ֲﬠ ַ ֥דת ְבֵּ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֖אל ַ ֽל ְלִוִ ֑יּם So Moses, Aaron, and the entire congregation of Israel did .20 [this] to the Levites; the children of Israel did [in accordance ְ֠כּ ֠כֹל ֲא ֶשׁר־ ִצָ֨וּה ְי ָ ֤הוֹה ֶאת־מ ֶשׁ ֙ה ַ ֽל ְלִוִ֔יּם ֵכּן־ ָﬠ ֥שׂוּ ָל ֶ ֖הם ְבֵּ ֥ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֽאל: with] all that the Lord had instructed Moses regarding the Levites.

כא ַו ִיּ ְת ַח ְטּ ֣אוּ ַ ֽה ְלִוִ֗יּם ַו ְי ַכ ְבּ ֙סוּ ִבּ ְגֵד ֶ֔יהם ַוָ֨יּ ֶנף ַ ֽא ֲה ֥רֹן The Levites cleansed themselves and washed their .21 ֹא ָ ֛תם ְתּנוּ ָ ֖פה ִל ְפֵ ֣ני ְי ָ ֑הוֹה ַו ְי ַכ ֵ ֧פּר ֲﬠ ֵל ֶ ֛יהם ַ ֽא ֲה ֖רֹן ,clothes. Then Aaron lifted them as a waving before the Lord ְל ַ ֽט ֲהָ ֽרם: .and Aaron atoned for them to cleanse them

כב ְו ַ ֽא ֲחֵר ֵ֞י־כן ָ ֣בּאוּ ַ ֽה ְלִוִ֗יּם ַ ֽל ֲﬠ ֤בֹד ֶאת־ ֲﬠ ֽבָֹד ָת ֙ם After that, the Levites came to perform the service in the .22 Tent of Meeting before Aaron and before his sons; they did to ְבּ ֣ ֹא ֶהל ֵ֔מוֹﬠד ִל ְפֵ ֥ני ַ ֽא ֲה ֖רֹן ְו ִל ְפֵ ֣ני ָבָ ֑ניו ַ ֽכּ ֲא ֶשׁ ֩ר ִצָ֨וּה ְי ָ ֤הוֹה ֶאת־מ ֶשׁ ֙ה ַﬠ ַ ֽל־ה ְלִוִ֔יּם ֵ ֖כּן ָﬠ ֥שׂוּ ָל ֶ ֽהם: them just as the Lord had commanded Moses regarding the Levites.

כג ַו ְי ַד ֵ ֥בּר ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ֶאל־מ ֶ ֥שׁה ֵלּ ֽ ֹאמר: :The Lord spoke to Moses saying .23

כד ֖ז ֹאת ֲא ֶ ֣שׁר ַ ֽל ְלִוִ ֑יּם ִמ ֶבּ֩ן ָח ֵ֨משׁ ְו ֶﬠ ְשִׂ ֤רים ָשׁ ָנ ֙ה This is [the rule] concerning the Levites: From the age of .24 ָו ַ֔מ ְﬠ ָלה ָי ֙בוֹא ִל ְצ ֣ב ֹא ָצ ָ֔בא ַ ֽבּ ֲﬠבַֹ ֖דת ֥ ֹא ֶהל ֵ ֽמוֹﬠד: twenty five years and upwards, he shall enter the service to work in the Tent of Meeting.

כה וּ ִמ ֶ ֙בּן ֲח ִמ ִ ֣שּׁים ָשׁ ָ֔נה ָי ֖שׁוּב ִמ ְצּ ָ ֣בא ָ ֽה ֲﬠבָֹ ֑דה ְו ֥ל ֹא ,From the age of fifty he shall retire from the work legion .25

ַ ֽי ֲﬠ ֖בֹד ֽﬠוֹד: .and do no more work

כו ְו ֵשֵׁ ֨רת ֶאת ֶ־א ָ֜חיו ְבּ ֤ ֹא ֶהל ֵמוֹﬠ ֙ד ִל ְשׁ ֣ ֹמר ִמ ְשׁ ֶ֔מֶרת He shall minister with his brethren in the Tent of Meeting to .26 ַ ֽו ֲﬠבָֹ ֖דה ֣ל ֹא ַ ֽי ֲﬠ ֑בֹד ָ ֛כּ ָכה ַ ֽתּ ֲﬠ ֶ ֥שׂה ַ ֽל ְלִוִ ֖יּם ְבּ ִמ ְשׁ ְמרֹ ָ ֽתם: keep the charge, but he shall not perform the service; thus shall you do for the Levites regarding their charge.

Third Portion Numbers Chapter 9 א ַו ְי ַד ֵ ֣בּר ְי ָ ֣הוֹה ֶאל־מ ֶ ֣שׁה ְב ִמ ְד ַבּ ִ֠ר־ס ַ ֠יני ַבּ ָשּׁ ָ֨נה The Lord spoke to Moses in the Sinai Desert, in the second .1 ַה ֵשּׁ ִ֜נית ְל ֵצ ָ֨אתם ֵמ ֶ ֧אֶרץ ִמ ְצַ ֛ר ִים ַבּ ֥חֹ ֶדשׁ ָ ֽהִרא ֖שׁוֹן ,year of their exodus from the land of Egypt, in the first month ֵל ֽ ֹאמר: :saying

ב ְוַ ֽי ֲﬠ ֧שׂוּ ְבֵ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֛אל ֶאת ַ־ה ָ ֖פּ ַסח ְבּ ֽמ ֲוֹﬠ ֽדוֹ: The children of Israel shall make the sacrifice in .2 its appointed time.

ג ְבּ ַאְר ָבּ ָ ֣ﬠה ָﬠ ָ ֽשׂר־ ֠יוֹם ַבּ ֨חֹ ֶדשׁ ַה ֶ֜זּה ֵ ֧בּין ָ ֽה ַﬠְר ַ ֛בִּים On the afternoon of the fourteenth of this month, you shall .3 ַ ֽתּ ֲﬠ ֥שׂוּ ֹא ֖תוֹ ְבּ ֽ ֹמ ֲﬠ ֑דוֹ ְכּ ָכ ֻל־חקֹּ ָ ֥תיו וּ ְכ ָכ ִל־מ ְשׁ ָפּ ָ ֖טיו make it in its appointed time; in accordance with all its statutes ַ ֽתּ ֲﬠ ֥שׂוּ ֹא ֽתוֹ: .and all its ordinances you shall make it

ד ַו ְי ַד ֵ ֥בּר מ ֶ ֛שׁה ֶאל־ ְבֵּ ֥ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֖אל ַ ֽל ֲﬠ ֥שׂת ַה ָ ֽפּ ַסח: Moses spoke to the children of Israel [instructing them] to .4 make the Passover sacrifice.

ה ַוַ ֽיּ ֲﬠ ֣שׂוּ ֶאת ַ־ה ֶ֡פּ ַסח ָ ֽבִּרא ֡שׁוֹן ְבּ ַאְר ָבּ ָﬠ ֩ה ָﬠ ָ֨שׂר ֥יוֹם So they made the Passover sacrifice in the first month, on .5 the afternoon of the fourteenth day of the month in the Sinai ַל ֛חֹ ֶדשׁ ֵ ֥בּין ָ ֽה ַﬠְר ַ ֖בִּים ְבּ ִמ ְד ַ ֣בּר ִס ָ ֑יני ְ֠כּ ֠כֹל ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ִצָ ֤וּה ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ֶאת־מ ֶ֔שׁה ֵ ֥כּן ָﬠ ֖שׂוּ ְבֵּ ֥ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֽאל: ,Desert; according to all that the Lord had commanded Moses so did the children of Israel do.

ו ַו ְי ִ ֣הי ֲא ָנ ִ֗שׁים ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ָה֤יוּ ְט ֵמ ִאי ֙ם ְלֶ ֣נ ֶפשׁ ָא ָ֔דם There were men who were ritually unclean [because of .6 contact with] a dead person, and therefore could not make the ְול ֹא־ָ ֽי ְכ ֥לוּ ַ ֽל ֲﬠ ֽשׂת ַ־ה ֶ ֖פּ ַסח ַבּ֣יּוֹם ַה ֑הוּא ַו ִיּ ְקְר ֞בוּ ִל ְפֵ ֥ני מ ֶ ֛שׁה ְו ִל ְפֵ ֥ני ַ ֽא ֲה ֖רֹן ַבּ֥יּוֹם ַה ֽהוּא: Passover sacrifice on that day. So they approached Moses and Aaron on that day.

ז ַו ֽיּ ֹ ְאמ ֠רוּ ָ ֽה ֲא ָנ ִ ֤שׁים ָה ֵ֨ה ָמּ ֙ה ֵא ָ֔ליו ֲאַ ֥נ ְחנוּ ְט ֵמ ִ ֖אים Those men said to him, "We are ritually unclean [because .7 of contact] with a dead person; [but] why should we be ְלֶ ֣נ ֶפשׁ ָאָ ֑דם ָ ֣ל ָמּה ִנ ָגַּ ֗רע ְל ִב ְל ִ֨תּי ַה ְקִ ֜ריב ֶאת ָ־קְר ַ ֤בּן ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ְבּ ֣ ֹמ ֲﬠ ֔דוֹ ְבּ ֖תוֹ ְבֵּ ֥ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֽאל: excluded so as not to bring the offering of the Lord in its appointed time, with all the children of Israel?

ח ַו ֥יּ ֹ ֶאמר ֲא ֵל ֶ ֖הם מ ֶ ֑שׁה ִﬠ ְמ ֣דוּ ְו ֶא ְשׁ ְמ ָ֔ﬠה ַמה־ ְיּ ַצֶ ֥וּה Moses said to them, "Wait, and I will hear what the Lord .8

ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ָל ֶ ֽכם: ".instructs concerning you

ט ַו ְי ַד ֵ ֥בּר ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ֶאל־מ ֶ ֥שׁה ֵלּ ֽ ֹאמר: :The Lord spoke to Moses saying .9

י ַדּ ֵ ֛בּר ֶאל־ ְבֵּ ֥ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֖אל ֵל ֑ ֹאמר ִ ֣אישׁ ִ ֣אישׁ ִכּי־ִֽי ְהֶ ֥יה Speak to the children of Israel saying, Any person who .10 becomes unclean from [contact with] the dead, or is on a ָט ֵ ֣מא | ָל ֶ֡נ ֶפשׁ ֩אוֹ ְב ֶ֨דֶר ְר ָ֜חֹק ֗ה ָל ֶ֗כם ֚אוֹ ְלדֹ֣רֹ ֵתי ֶ֔כם ְו ָ ֥ﬠ ָשׂה ֶ ֖פ ַסח ַ ֽל ָ ֽיהוֹה: distant journey, whether among you or in future generations, he shall make a Passover sacrifice for the Lord.

יא ַבּ ֨חֹ ֶדשׁ ַה ֵשּׁ ִ֜ני ְבּ ַאְר ָבּ ָ֨ﬠה ָﬠ ָ ֥שׂר ֛יוֹם ֵ ֥בּין ָ ֽה ַﬠְר ַ ֖בִּים In the second month, on the fourteenth day, in the .11 ַ ֽי ֲﬠ ֣שׂוּ ֹא ֑תוֹ ַﬠ ַל־מ ֥צּוֹת וּ ְמרִֹ ֖רים ֽי ֹ ְאכ ֻ ֽלהוּ: afternoon, they shall make it; they shall eat it with unleavened cakes and bitter herbs.

יב ֽל ֹא־ ַי ְשׁ ִ ֤אירוּ ִמ ֶ֨מּ ֙נּוּ ַﬠד־ ֔בֹּ ֶקר ְו ֶ ֖ﬠ ֶצם ֣ל ֹא ִי ְשׁ ְבּרוּ־ ֑בוֹ They shall not leave over anything from it until the next .12 morning, and they shall not break any of its bones. They shall ְכּ ָכ ֻל־חַ ֥קּת ַה ֶ ֖פּ ַסח ַ ֽי ֲﬠ ֥שׂוּ ֹא ֽתוֹ: make it in accordance with all the statutes connected with the Passover sacrifice.

יג ְו ָה ִאי ֩שׁ ֲא ֶשׁ ֨ר־הוּא ָט ֜הוֹר וּ ְבֶ ֣דֶר ֽל ֹא ָ־הָ֗יה ְו ָח ַד ֙ל But the man who was ritually clean and was not on a .13 ַ ֽל ֲﬠ ֣שׂוֹת ַה ֶ֔פּ ַסח ְו ִנ ְכְר ָ ֛תה ַהֶ ֥נּ ֶפשׁ ַה ִ ֖הוא ֵ ֽמ ַﬠ ֶ ֑מּ ָיה ִ ֣כּי | journey, yet refrained from making the Passover sacrifice, his ָקְר ַ ֣בּן ְי ָ ֗הוֹה ֤ל ֹא ִה ְקִרי ֙ב ְבּ ֣ ֹמ ֲﬠ ֔דוֹ ֶח ְט ֥אוֹ ִי ָ ֖שּׂא ָה ִ֥אישׁ soul shall be cut off from his people, for he did not bring the offering of the Lord in its appointed time; that person shall bear ַה ֽהוּא: his sin. יד ְו ִֽכי־ ָי ֨גוּר ִא ְתּ ֶ֜כם ֵ֗גּר ְו ָ ֤ﬠ ָשׂה ֶ֨פ ַס ֙ח ַ ֽל ָ ֔יהוֹה ְכּ ֻחַ ֥קּת If a proselyte dwells with you, and he makes a Passover .14 ַה ֶ ֛פּ ַסח וּ ְכ ִמ ְשׁ ָפּ ֖טוֹ ֵ ֣כּן ַ ֽי ֲﬠ ֶ ֑שׂה ֻחָ ֤קּה ַא ַח ֙ת ִֽי ְהֶי֣ה ָל ֶ֔כם sacrifice to the Lord, according to the statutes of the Passover ְו ַלֵ ֖גּר ְוּל ֶאְזַ ֥רח ָה ָ ֽאֶרץ: sacrifice and its ordinances he shall make it. One statute shall apply to you, to the proselyte and to the native-born citizen.

Fourth Portion Numbers Chapter 9 טו וּ ְב ֙יוֹם ָהִ ֣ קים ֶאת ַ־ה ִמּ ְשׁ ָ֔כּן ִכּ ָ ֤סּה ֶ ֽה ָﬠ ָ֙נן On the day the Mishkan was erected, the cloud covered .15 the Mishkan, which was a tent for the Testimony, and at ֶאת ַ־ה ִמּ ְשׁ ָ֔כּן ְל ֖ ֹא ֶהל ָ ֽה ֵﬠ ֻ ֑דת וּ ָב ֶ֜ﬠֶרב ִֽי ְהֶי֧ה ַﬠ ַל־ה ִמּ ְשׁ ָ ֛כּן ְכּ ַמְר ֵאה ֵ ֖־אשׁ ַﬠד־ ֽבֹּ ֶקר: evening, there was over the Mishkan like an appearance of fire, [which remained] until morning.

טז ֵ֚כּן ִֽי ְהֶי֣ה ָת ִ֔מיד ֶ ֽה ָﬠָ ֖נ ן ְי ַכ ֶ ֑סּנּוּ וּ ַמְר ֵאה ֵ ֖־אשׁ ָ ֽל ְי ָלה: So it was always, the cloud covered it and there was an .16 appearance of fire at night.

יז ְוּל ִ֞פי ֵ ֽה ָﬠ ֤לוֹת ֶ ֽה ָﬠ ָ֙נן ֵמ ַ ֣ﬠל ָה ֔ ֹא ֶהל ְו ַ ֣א ֲחֵרי ֵ֔כן ִי ְס ֖ﬠוּ ,and according to the cloud's departure from over the Tent .17 and afterwards, the children of Israel would travel, and in the ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֑אל וּ ִב ְמ ֗קוֹם ֲא ֶ ֤שׁר ִי ְשׁ ָכּן־ ָשׁ ֙ם ֶ ֽה ָﬠ ָ֔נן ָ ֥שׁם ַ ֽי ֲח ֖נוּ ְבֵּ ֥ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֽאל: place where the cloud settled, there the children of Israel would encamp.

יח ַﬠ ִ ֣ל־פּי ְי ָ ֗הוֹה ִי ְס ֙עוּ ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ֔אל ְו ַﬠ ִ֥ל־פּי ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ַ ֽי ֲח ֑נוּ ,At the bidding of the Lord, the children of Israel traveled .18 ָכּל־ ְי ֵ֗מי ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ִי ְשׁ ֧כֹּן ֶ ֽה ָﬠָ ֛נ ן ַﬠ ַל־ה ִמּ ְשׁ ָ ֖כּן ַ ֽי ֲח ֽנוּ: and at the bidding of the Lord, they encamped. As long as the cloud hovered above the Mishkan, they encamped.

יט וּ ְב ַ ֽה ֲאִ ֧רי ֶ ֽה ָﬠָ ֛נ ן ַﬠ ַל־ה ִמּ ְשׁ ָ ֖כּן ָי ִ ֣מים ַר ִ ֑בּים ְו ָ ֽשׁ ְמ ֧רוּ ,When the cloud lingered over the Mishkan for many days .19 ְבֵ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֛אל ֶאת ִ־מ ְשׁ ֶ ֥מֶרת ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ְו ֥ל ֹא ִי ָ ֽסּעוּ: the children of Israel kept the charge of the Lord and did not travel.

כ ְוֵ֞ישׁ ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ִֽי ְהֶי֧ה ֶ ֽה ָﬠָ ֛נ ן ָי ִ֥מים ִמ ְס ָ ֖פּר ַﬠ ַל־ה ִמּ ְשׁ ָ ֑כּן Sometimes, the cloud remained for several days above .20 ַﬠ ִ ֤ל־פּי ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ַ ֽי ֲח ֔נוּ ְו ַﬠ ִ֥ל־פּי ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ִי ָ ֽסּעוּ: the Mishkan; at the Lord's bidding they traveled and at the Lord's bidding they encamped.

כא ְוֵ֞ישׁ ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ִֽי ְהֶי֤ה ֶ ֽה ָﬠ ָ֙נן ֵמ ֶ ֣ﬠֶרב ַﬠד־ ֔בֹּ ֶקר ְוַ ֽנ ֲﬠ ָ ֧לה Sometimes the cloud remained from evening until .21 morning, and when the cloud departed in the morning, they ֶ ֽה ָﬠָ ֛נ ן ַבּ ֖בֹּ ֶקר ְו ָנ ָ ֑סעוּ ֚אוֹ יוֹ ָ ֣מם ָו ַ֔ל ְי ָלה ְוַ ֽנ ֲﬠ ָ ֥לה ֶ ֽה ָﬠָ ֖נ ן ְו ָנ ָ ֽסעוּ: traveled. Or, the cloud remained for a day and a night, and when the cloud departed, they traveled.

כב ֽאוֹ־יֹ ַ֜מִים ֣אוֹ־חֹ ֶדשׁ ֽאוֹ־ ָי ִ֗מים ְבּ ַ ֽה ֲאִ ֨רי ֶ ֽה ָﬠָ ֤נ ן Whether it was for two days, a month or a year, that the .22 cloud lingered to hover over the Mishkan, the children of Israel ַﬠ ַל־ה ִמּ ְשׁ ָ ֙כּן ִל ְשׁ ֣כֹּן ָﬠ ָ֔ליו ַ ֽי ֲח ֥נוּ ְבֵ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֖אל ְו ֣ל ֹא ִי ָ ֑סּעוּ וּ ְב ֵה ָ ֽﬠ ֖תוֹ ִי ָ ֽסּעוּ: would encamp and not travel, and when it departed, they traveled.

כג ַﬠ ִ ֤ל־פּי ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ַ ֽי ֲח ֔נוּ ְו ַﬠ ִ֥ל־פּי ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ִי ָ ֑סּעוּ At the Lord's bidding they would encamp, and at the Lord's .23 ֶאת ִ־מ ְשׁ ֶ ֤מֶרת ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ָשׁ ָ֔מרוּ ַﬠ ִ֥ל־פּי ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ְבַּיד־מ ֶ ֽשׁה: bidding they would travel; they kept the charge of the Lord by the word of the Lord through Moses.

Numbers Chapter 10

א ַו ְי ַד ֵ ֥בּר ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ֶאל־מ ֶ ֥שׁה ֵלּ ֽ ֹאמר: :The Lord spoke to Moses saying .1

ב ֲﬠ ֵ ֣שׂה ְל ֗ ְשׁ ֵ ֙תּי ֲח ֽצ ְוֹצ ֣רֹת ֶ֔כּ ֶסף ִמ ְק ָ ֖שׁה ַ ֽתּ ֲﬠ ֶ ֣שׂה Make yourself two silver trumpets; you shall make them .2 ֹא ָ ֑תם ְו ָה֤יוּ ְל ֙ ְל ִמ ְקָ ֣רא ָ ֽה ֵﬠ ָ֔דה ְוּל ַמ ַ ֖סּע ֶאת ַ־ה ַ ֽמּ ֲח ֽנוֹת: from a] beaten [form]; they shall be used by you to summon] the congregation and to announce the departure of the camps.

ג ְו ָ ֽת ְק ֖ﬠוּ ָבּ ֵ ֑הן ְו ֽנ ֲוֹﬠ ֤דוּ ֵא ֶ֨ל ֙י ָכּ ָ ֣ל־ה ֵﬠ ָ֔דה ֶא ֶ ֖ל־פּ ַתח When they blow on them, the entire congregation shall .3

֥ ֹא ֶהל ֵ ֽמוֹﬠד: .assemble to you, at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting

ד ְו ִאם־ ְבּ ַא ַ ֖חת ִי ְתָ ֑ קעוּ ְו ֽנ ֲוֹﬠ ֤דוּ ֵא ֶ֨ל ֙י ַה ְנּ ִשׂ ִ֔יאים If they blow one of them, the princes, the leaders of Israel's .4

ָרא ֵ ֖שׁי ַא ְל ֵ ֥פי ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֽאל: .thousands, shall convene to you

ה ְוּת ַק ְﬠ ֶ ֖תּם ְתּ ָ ֑רוּﬠה ְוָ ֽנ ְס ֙עוּ ַה ַ ֽמּ ֲח ֔נוֹת ַ ֽה ִ ֖חֹנים ֵ ֽק ְד ָמה: When you blow a teruah [a series of short blasts, the camps .5 which are encamped to the east shall travel.

ו ְוּת ַק ְﬠ ֶ ֤תּם ְתּ ָרוּﬠ ֙ה ֵשׁ ִ֔נית ְוָ ֽנ ְס ֙עוּ ַה ַ ֽמּ ֲח ֔נוֹת ַ ֽה ִ ֖חֹנים When you blow a second teruah, the camps encamped to .6

ֵתּי ָ ֑מ ָנה ְתּ ָ ֥רוּﬠה ִי ְת ְק ֖ﬠוּ ְל ַמ ְס ֵﬠ ֶ ֽיהם: .the south shall travel; they shall blow a teruah for traveling

ז וּ ְב ַה ְק ִ ֖היל ֶאת ַ־ה ָקּ ָ ֑הל ִתּ ְת ְק ֖ﬠוּ ְו ֥ל ֹא ָתִֽריעוּ: But when assembling the congregation, you shall blow a .7 tekiah [long blast] but not a teruah.

ח וּ ְבֵ ֤ני ַ ֽא ֲה ֙רֹן ַה ֣כֹּ ֲה ִ֔נים ִי ְת ְק ֖ﬠוּ ַ ֽבּ ֲח ֽצֹ ְצ ֑רוֹת ְו ָה֥יוּ ָל ֶ ֛כם The descendants of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the .8

ְל ֻחַ ֥קּת ָ ֖עוֹלם ְלדֹֽרֹ ֵתי ֶ ֽכם: .trumpets; this shall be an eternal statute for your generations

ט ְו ִֽכ ָי־ת ֨בֹאוּ ִמ ְל ָח ָ֜מה ְבּ ַאְר ְצ ֶ֗כם ַﬠ ַל־ה ַצּ ֙ר ַהצֵֹּ ֣רר If you go to war in your land against an adversary that .9 oppresses you, you shall blow a teruah with the trumpets and ֶא ְת ֶ֔כם ַ ֽו ֲהֵ ֽרעֹ ֶ ֖תם ַ ֽבּ ֲח ֽצֹ ְצ ֑רֹת ְו ִנְז ַכְּר ֶ֗תּם ִל ְפ ֵ֙ני ְי ָ ֣הוֹה ֱא ֽ ֵהי ֶ֔כם ְו ֽנ ַוֹשׁ ְﬠ ֶ ֖תּם ֵמ ֽ ֹאְי ֵבי ֶ ֽכם: be remembered before the Lord your God, and thus be saved from your enemies.

י וּ ְב֨יוֹם ִשׂ ְמ ַח ְת ֶ ֣כם וּ ְב ֽמ ֲוֹﬠ ֵדי ֶכם֘ וּ ְבָרא ֵ ֣שׁי ָח ְד ֵשׁ ֶכ ֒ם On the days of your rejoicing, on your festivals and on .10 your new-moon celebrations, you shall blow on the trumpets ְוּת ַק ְﬠ ֶ ֣תּם ַ ֽבּ ֲח ֽצֹ ְצ ֗רֹת ַ֚ﬠל עֹ ֣ ֵתי ֶ֔כם ְו ַ ֖ﬠל ִז ְב ֵ ֣חי ַשׁ ְל ֵמי ֶ ֑כם ְו ָה֨יוּ ָל ֶ ֤כם ְל ִז ָכּ ֙רוֹן ִל ְפֵ ֣ני ֱא ֽ ֵהי ֶ֔כם ֲאִ ֖ני ְי ָ ֥הוֹה ֱא ֽ ֵהי ֶ ֽכם: for your ascent-offerings and your peace sacrifices, and it shall be a remembrance before your God; I am the Lord your God.

Fifth Portion Numbers Chapter 10 יא ַו ְי ִ֞הי ַבּ ָשָּׁ ֧נה ַה ֵשִּׁ ֛נית ַבּ ֥חֹ ֶדשׁ ַה ֵשִּׁ ֖ני ְבּ ֶﬠ ְשִׂ ֣רים ,On the twentieth of the second month in the second year .11 ַבּ ֑חֹ ֶדשׁ ַ ֽנ ֲﬠ ָל ֙ה ֶ ֽה ָﬠ ָ֔נן ֵמ ַ ֖ﬠל ִמ ְשׁ ַ ֥כּן ָ ֽה ֵﬠ ֻ ֽדת: .the cloud rose up from over the of the Testimony

יב ַו ִיּ ְס ֧ﬠוּ ְבֵ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֛אל ְל ַמ ְס ֵﬠ ֶ ֖יהם ִמ ִמּ ְד ַ ֣בּר ִס ָ ֑יני The children of Israel traveled on their journeys from the .12

ַו ִיּ ְשׁ ֥כֹּן ֶ ֽה ָﬠָ ֖נ ן ְבּ ִמ ְד ַ ֥בּר ָפּ ָ ֽארן: .Sinai desert, and the cloud settled in the

יג ַו ִיּ ְס ֖ﬠוּ ָבִּֽראשָֹׁ ֑נה ַﬠ ִ֥ל־פּי ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ְבַּיד־מ ֶ ֽשׁה: .This was the first journey at God's bidding through Moses .13

יד ַו ִיּ ַ֞סּע ֶ ֣דּ ֶגל ַ ֽמ ֲחֵ ֧נה ְבֵ ֽני־ ְי ָ ֛הוּדה ָבִּֽראשָֹׁ ֖נה ְל ִצ ְב ֹא ָ ֑תם The banner of the camp of Judah's children traveled first .14 ְו ַ֨ﬠל־ ְצ ָב ֔אוֹ ַנ ְח ֖שׁוֹן ֶבּן־ ַﬠ ִֽמּ ָינָ ֽדב: according to their legions. Heading the legion was Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

טו ְו ַ֨ﬠל־ ְצ ָ֔בא ַמ ֵ ֖טּה ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ָשּׂ ָ ֑שכר ְנ ַת ְנ ֵ ֖אל ֶבּן־ ָ ֽצוּﬠר: Heading the legion of the tribe of the children of Issachar .15 was Nethanel the son of Zuar.

טז ְו ַ֨ﬠל־ ְצ ָ֔בא ַמ ֵ ֖טּה ְבֵּ ֣ני ְז ֻ ֑בוּלן ֱא ִל ָ ֖יאב ֶבּ ֵן־ח ֽן: Heading the legion of the tribe of the children of Zebulun .16 was Eliab the son of Helon.

יז ְו ַ ֖הוּרד ַה ִמּ ְשׁ ָ ֑כּן ְוָ ֽנ ְס ֤ﬠוּ ְב ֵנ ֵ ֽי־ג ְ ר ֙שׁוֹן וּ ְבֵ ֣ני ְמָרִ ֔רי The Tabernacle was dismantled, and the sons of Gershon .17 ֹֽנ ְשׂ ֵ ֖אי ַה ִמּ ְשׁ ָ ֽכּן: set out, [together] with the sons of Merari who carried the Tabernacle.

יח ְו ָנ ַ֗סע ֶ ֛דּ ֶגל ַ ֽמ ֲחֵ ֥נה ְראוּ ֵ ֖בן ְל ִצ ְב ֹא ָ ֑תם ְו ַ֨ﬠל־ ְצ ָב ֔אוֹ Then the banner of the camp of Reuben set out according .18 ֱא ִל ֖יצוּר ֶבּן־ ְשׁ ֵד ֽיאוּר: to their legions. Heading its legion was Elitzur the son of Shdeur.

יט ְו ַ֨ﬠל־ ְצ ָ֔בא ַמ ֵ ֖טּה ְבֵּ ֣ני ִשׁ ְמ ֑ﬠוֹן ְשׁ ֻ ֽל ִמ ֵ ֖יאל Heading the legion of the tribe of the children of Simeon .19

ֶבּן־ ִֽצוּרי ַשׁ ָ ֽדּי: .was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai

כ ְו ַ֨ﬠל־ ְצ ָ ֖בא ַמ ֵ ֣טּה ְב ֵנ ָ ֑י־גד ֶא ְל ָי ָ ֖סף ֶבּ ְן־דּ ֵ ֽעוּאל: Heading the legion of the tribe of the children of Gad was .20

Eliasaph the son of Reuel.

כא ְוָ ֽנ ְס ֙עוּ ַה ְקּ ָה ִ֔תים ֹֽנ ְשׂ ֵ ֖אי ַה ִמּ ְק ָ ֑דּשׁ ְו ֵהִ֥ קימוּ ,The Kohathithes, who carried the holy [equipment] set out .21

ֶאת ַ־ה ִמּ ְשׁ ָ ֖כּן ַﬠד־בֹּ ָ ֽאם: .and they had erected the Tabernacle before they had arrived

כב ְו ָנ ַ֗סע ֶ ֛דּ ֶגל ַ ֽמ ֲחֵ ֥נה ְבֵ ֽנ ֶי־א ְפַ ֖ר ִים ְל ִצ ְב ֹא ָ ֑תם ,Then the banner of the camp of Ephraim set out .22 ְו ַ֨ﬠל־ ְצ ָב ֔אוֹ ֱא ִֽלי ָשׁ ָ ֖מע ֶבּן־ ַﬠ ִמּ ֽיהוּד: according to its legions. Heading its legion was Elishama the son of Amihud.

כג ְו ַ֨ﬠל־ ְצ ָ֔בא ַמ ֵ ֖טּה ְבֵּ ֣ני ְמ ַנ ֶ ֑שּׁה ַגּ ְמ ִל ֵ ֖יאל Heading the legion of the tribe of the children of Menasseh .23

ֶבּ ְן־פּ ָד ֽהצוּר: .was Gamliel the son of Pedahzur

כד ְו ַ֨ﬠל־ ְצ ָ֔בא ַמ ֵ ֖טּה ְבֵּ ֣ני ִב ְנָי ִ ֑מן ֲא ִב ָ ֖ידן ֶבּ ִן־גְּד ִֽעוֹני: Heading the legion of the tribe of the children of Benjamin .24 was Abidan the son of Gidoni.

כה ְו ָנ ַ֗סע ֶ֚דּ ֶגל ַ ֽמ ֲחֵ ֣נה ְב ֵנ ָ֔י־דן ְמ ַא ֵ ֥סּף ְל ָכ ַל־ה ַ ֽמּ ֲח ֹ֖נת Then the banner of the camp of Dan set out, the collector .25 ְל ִצ ְב ֹא ָ ֑תם ְו ַﬠל־ ְצ ָב ֔אוֹ ֲא ִח ֶ ֖יﬠ ֶזר ֶבּן־ ַﬠ ִֽמּי ַשׁ ָ ֽדּי: for all the other camps, according to its legions. Heading its legion was Achiezer the son of Amishaddai.

כו ְו ַ֨ﬠל־ ְצ ָ֔בא ַמ ֵ ֖טּה ְבֵּ ֣ני ָא ֵ ֑שׁר ַפּ ְג ִﬠ ֵ ֖יאל ֶבּן־ ָﬠ ְכָ ֽרן: Heading the legion of the tribe of the children of Asher was .26

ל ַו ֥יּ ֹ ֶאמר ֵא ָ ֖ליו ֣ל ֹא ֵא ֵ ֑ל ִ ֧כּי ִא ֶם־א ַל־אְר ִ ֛צי He said to him, I won't go, for I will go to my land and my .30

לא ַו֕יּ ֹ ֶאמר ַא ָ ֖ל־נא ַ ֽתּ ֲﬠ ֣זֹב ֹא ָ ֑תנוּ ִ ֣כּי | ַﬠ ֵ ֣ל־כּן ָי ַ֗ד ְﬠ ָתּ He said, Please don't leave us, for because you are .31 ֲח ֹנ ֵ֨ת ֙נוּ ַבּ ִמּ ְד ָ֔בּר ְו ָהִ֥יי ָת ָ ֖לּנוּ ְל ֵﬠ ָ ֽינ ִ ים: familiar with our encampments in the desert and you will be our guide.

לב ְו ָהָ ֖יה ִֽכּ ֵי־ת ֵ ֣ל ִﬠ ָ ֑מּנוּ ְו ָהָי֣ה | ַה ֣טּוֹב ַה ֗הוּא ֲא ֶ֨שׁר And if you go with us, then we will bestow on you the good .32

ֵי ִ ֧יטיב ְי ָ ֛הוֹה ִﬠ ָ ֖מּנוּ ְו ֵה ַ ֥ט ְבנוּ ָ ֽל: .which God grants us

לג ַו ִיּ ְס ֙עוּ ֵמ ַ ֣הר ְי ָ ֔הוֹה ֶ ֖דֶּר ְשׁ ֣ל ֶשׁת ָי ִ ֑מים ַ ֽו ֲא ֨רוֹן They traveled a distance of three days from the mountain .33 ְבִּֽרית־ ְי ָ ֜הוֹה ֹנ ֵ ֣ס ַ ִל ְפ ֵנ ֶ֗יהם ֶ֚דֶּר ְשׁ ֣ל ֶשׁת ָי ִ֔מים ָל ֥תוּר of the Lord, and the Ark of the Lord's covenant traveled three ָל ֶ ֖הם ְמ ָ ֽנוּחה: .days ahead of them to seek for them a place to settle

לד ַ ֽו ֲﬠַ ֧נ ן ְי ָ ֛הוֹה ֲﬠ ֵל ֶ ֖יהם יוֹ ָ ֑מם ְבּ ָנ ְס ָ ֖ﬠם ִמ ַן־ה ַ ֽמּ ֲחֶ ֽנה: The cloud of the Lord was above them by day, when they .34 traveled from the camp.

Sixth Portion Numbers Chapter 10 לה ַו ְי ִ ֛הי ִבּ ְנ ֥סֹ ַ ָ ֽה ָא ֖רֹן ַו ֣יּ ֹ ֶאמר מ ֶ ֑שׁה קוּ ָ ֣מה | ְי ָ ֗הוֹה ,So it was, whenever the ark set out, Moses would say .35 ְו ָי ֻ֨פ ֙צוּ ֽ ֹאְי ֶ֔בי ְו ָיֻ ֥נסוּ ְמ ַשׂ ְנ ֶ ֖אי ִמ ָפֶּ ֽני: Arise, O Lord, may Your enemies be scattered and may those who hate You flee from You.

לו וּ ְב ֻנ ֖חֹה י ֹ ַ ֑אמר שׁוּ ָ ֣בה ְי ָ ֔הוֹה ִר ֲב ֖בוֹת ַא ְל ֵ ֥פי ,And when it came to rest he would say, Repose O Lord .36

ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֽאל: .among the myriads of thousands of Israel Numbers Chapter 11 א ַו ְי ִ ֤הי ָה ָﬠ ֙ם ְכּ ִמ ְת ֣ ֹא ְנ ִ֔נים ַ ֖רע ְבּ ָאְזֵ ֣ני ְי ָ ֑הוֹה ַו ִיּ ְשׁ ַ ֤מע The people were looking to complain, and it was evil in the .1 ears of the Lord. The Lord heard and His anger flared, and a ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ַוִ ֣יּ ַחר ַא ֔פּוֹ ַו ִתּ ְב ַﬠר־ ָבּ ֙ם ֵ ֣אשׁ ְי ָ ֔הוֹה ַו ֖תּ ֹ ַאכל ִבּ ְק ֵ ֥צה ַה ַ ֽמּ ֲחֶ ֽנה: fire from the Lord burned among them, consuming the extremes of the camp.

ב ַו ִיּ ְצ ַ ֥ﬠק ָה ָ ֖ﬠם ֶאל־מ ֶ ֑שׁה ַו ִיּ ְת ַפּ ֵ ֤לּל מ ֶשׁ ֙ה ֶאל־ ְי ָ ֔הוֹה ,The people cried out to Moses; Moses prayed to the Lord .2

ַו ִתּ ְשַׁ ֖ קע ָה ֵ ֽאשׁ: .and the fire died down

ג ַו ִיּ ְקָ ֛רא ֵ ֽשׁ ַם־ה ָמּ ֥קוֹם ַה ֖הוּא ַתּ ְב ֵﬠָ ֑רה ִכּי־ ָ ֽב ֲﬠָ ֥רה ָ ֖בם He named that place Tab'erah, for the fire of the Lord had .3

ֵ ֥אשׁ ְי ָ ֽהוֹה: .burned among them there

ד ְו ָ ֽהא ַס ְפ ֻס ֙ף ֲא ֶ ֣שׁר ְבּ ִקְר ֔בּוֹ ִה ְת ַא֖וּוּ ַ ֽתּ ֲאָ ֑וה ַו ָיּ ֻ ֣שׁבוּ But the multitude among them began to have strong .4 ַו ִיּ ְב ֗כּוּ ַ֚גּם ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ֔אל ַו ֣יּ ֹ ְאמ ֔רוּ ִ֥מי ַ ֽי ֲא ִכ ֵ ֖לנוּ ָבּ ָ ֽשׂר: cravings. Then even the children of Israel once again began to cry, and they said, "Who will feed us meat?

ה ָז ַ֨כְר ֙נוּ ֶאת ַ־ה ָדּ ָ֔גה ֲא ֶשׁר־נ ֹ ַ ֥אכל ְבּ ִמ ְצַ ֖ר ִים ִחָ ֑נּם ֵ ֣את ,We remember the fish that we ate in Egypt free of charge .5 ַה ִקּ ֻשּׁ ִ֗אים ְו ֵא ֙ת ָ ֽה ֲא ַב ִטּ ִ֔חים ְו ֶאת ֶ ֽ־ה ָח ִ֥ציר the cucumbers, the watermelons, the leeks, the onions, and ְו ֶאת ַ־ה ְבּ ָצ ִ ֖לים ְו ֶאת ַ־השּׁוּ ִֽמים: .the garlic

ו ְו ַﬠ ָ ֛תּה ַנ ְפ ֵ ֥שׁנוּ ְי ֵב ָ ֖שׁה ֵ ֣אין ֑כֹּל ִבּ ְל ִ ֖תּי ֶא ַל־ה ָ ֥מּן ֵﬠ ֵ ֽינינוּ: ;But now, our bodies are dried out, for there is nothing at all .6 we have nothing but manna to look at."

ז ְו ַה ָ֕מּן ִכּ ְזַרע ַ ֖־גּד ֑הוּא ְו ֵﬠ ֖ינוֹ ְכּ ֵ ֥ﬠין ַה ְבּ ֽדֹ ַלח: Now the manna was like coriander seed, and its .7 appearance was like the appearance of crystal.

ח ֩ ָשׁ ֩טוּ ָה ָ֨ﬠם ְו ָ ֽל ְק ֜טוּ ְו ָ ֽט ֲח ֣נוּ ָ ֽבֵר ַ֗ח ִים ֤אוֹ ָד ֙כוּ ַבּ ְמּדֹ ָ֔כה The people walked about and gathered it. Then they ground .8 וּ ִב ְשּׁ ֙לוּ ַבּ ָפּ ֔רוּר ְו ָﬠ ֥שׂוּ ֹא ֖תוֹ ֻﬠ ֑גוֹת ְו ָהָי֣ה ַט ְﬠ ֔מוֹ ְכּ ַ ֖ט ַﬠם it in a mill or crushed it in a mortar, cooked it in a pot and made ְל ַ ֥שׁד ַה ָ ֽשּׁ ֶמן: .it into cakes. It had a taste like the taste of oil cake

ט וּ ְבֶ ֧ר ֶדת ַה ַ ֛טּל ַﬠ ַל־ה ַ ֽמּ ֲחֶ ֖נה ָ ֑ל ְי ָלה ֵיֵ ֥רד ַה ָ ֖מּן ָﬠ ָ ֽליו: When the dew descended on the camp at night, the manna .9 would descend upon it.

י ַו ִיּ ְשׁ ַ֨מע מ ֶ֜שׁה ֶאת ָ־ה ָ֗ﬠם בֹּ ֶכ ֙ה ְל ִמ ְשׁ ְפּ ָ֔חֹתיו ִ ֖אישׁ Moses heard the people weeping with their families,each .10 ְל ֶ ֣פ ַתח ָ ֽא ֳה ֑לוֹ ַוִֽיּ ַח ַ ֤ר־אף ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ְמ ֔ ֹאד וּ ְב ֵﬠ ֵ ֥יני מ ֶ ֖שׁה ָ ֽרע: ,one at the entrance to his tent. The Lord became very angry and Moses considered it evil.

יא ַו֨יּ ֹ ֶאמר מ ֶ֜שׁה ֶאל־ ְי ָ ֗הוֹה ָל ָ ֤מה ֲהֵר ֨עֹ ָ֙ת ְל ַﬠ ְב ֶ֔דּ Moses said to the Lord, "Why have You treated Your .11 ְו ָ ֛ל ָמּה ֽל ֹא ָ־מ ָ ֥צ ִתי (חסר א') ֵ ֖חן ְבּ ֵﬠ ֶינ֑י ָל ֗שׂוּם servant so badly? Why have I not found favor in Your eyes that ֶאת ַ־מ ָ ֛שּׂא ָכּ ָל־ה ָ ֥ﬠם ַהֶ ֖זּה ָﬠ ָ ֽלי: ?You place the burden of this entire people upon me

יב ֶה ָ ֽא ֹנ ִ ֣כי ָהִ ֗רי ִתי ֵ֚את ָכּ ָל־ה ָ ֣ﬠם ַה ֶ֔זּה ִא ָ ֽם־א ֹנ ִ ֖כי ,Did I conceive this entire people? Did I give birth to them .12 ְי ִל ְד ִ ֑תּיהוּ ִֽכּי־ת ֹ ַ֨אמר ֵא ַ֜לי ָשׂ ֵ ֣אהוּ ְב ֵח ֶ֗יק ַ ֽכּ ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ִי ָ ֤שּׂא that You say to me, 'Carry them in your bosom as the nurse ָ ֽה ֹא ֵ ֙מן ֶאת ַ־היֵֹּ֔נק ַ֚ﬠל ָ ֽה ֲא ָד ָ֔מה ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר ִנ ְשׁ ַ ֖בּ ְﬠ ָתּ carries the suckling,' to the Land You promised their ַ ֽל ֲאבֹ ָ ֽתיו: ?forefathers

יג ֵמ ַ ֤אִין ִ ֙לי ָבּ ָ֔שׂר ָל ֵ ֖תת ְל ָכ ָל־ה ָ ֣ﬠם ַהֶ ֑זּה ִֽכּי־ ִי ְב ֤כּוּ ָﬠ ַ ֙לי Where can I get meat to give all these people? For they .13

ֵל ֔ ֹאמר ְתּ ָנה־ ָ ֥לּנוּ ָב ָ ֖שׂר ְונ ֹ ֵ ֽאכ ָלה: '.are crying on me, saying, 'Give us meat to eat

יד ֽל ֹא־אוּ ַ ֤כל ָ ֽא ֹנ ִ ֙כי ְל ַב ִ֔דּי ָל ֵ ֖שׂאת ֶאת ָ־כּ ָל־ה ָ ֣ﬠם ַהֶ ֑זּה Alone I cannot carry this entire people for it is too hard for .14

ִ֥כּי ָכ ֵ ֖בד ִמ ֶ ֽמּ ִנּי: .me

טו ְו ִא ָ ֣ם־כּ ָכה | ַא ְתּ־ ֣ﬠֹ ֶשׂה ִ֗לּי ָהְרֵ ֤ג ִני ָנ ֙א ָה ֔רֹג If this is the way You treat me, please kill me if I have .15

ִא ָם־מ ָ ֥צ ִאתי ֵ ֖חן ְבּ ֵﬠ ֶינ֑י ְו ַא ֶל־אְר ֶ ֖אה ְבָּ ֽר ָﬠ ִֽתי: ".found favor in Your eyes, so that I not see my misfortune

טז ַו֨יּ ֹ ֶאמר ְי ָ ֜הוֹה ֶאל־מ ֶ֗שׁה ֶא ְס ָפה־ ִ֞לּי ִשׁ ְב ִ ֣ﬠים ִאי ֘שׁ Then the Lord said to Moses, "Assemble for Me seventy .16 ִמִזּ ְקֵ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵאל֒ ֲא ֶ ֣שׁר ָי ַ֔ד ְﬠ ָתּ ִכּ ֵ ֛י־הם ִז ְקֵ ֥ני ָה ָ ֖ﬠם men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the people's

ְו ֽשֹׁ ְטָ ֑ריו ְו ָ ֽל ַק ְח ָ ֤תּ ֹא ָת ֙ם ֶא ֣ ֹל־א ֶהל ֵ֔מוֹﬠד ְו ִה ְתַי ְצּ ֥בוּ ָ ֖שׁם elders and officers, and you shall take them to the Tent of Meeting, and they shall stand there with You. ִﬠ ָ ֽמּ:

יז ְוָ ֽי ַ ר ְד ִ֗תּי ְו ִד ַבְּר ִ ֣תּי ִﬠ ְמּ ֘ ָשׁ ֒ם ְו ָ ֽא ַצ ְל ִ֗תּי ִמ ָן־ה ֛ר ַוּ I will come down and speak with you there, and I will .17 increase the spirit that is upon you and bestow it upon them. ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר ָﬠ ֶ ֖לי ְו ַשׂ ְמ ִ ֣תּי ֲﬠ ֵל ֶ ֑יהם ְוָ ֽנ ְשׂ ֤אוּ ִא ְתּ ֙ ְבּ ַמ ָ ֣שּׂא ָה ָ֔ﬠם ְו ֽל ֹא ִ־ת ָ ֥שּׂא ַא ָ ֖תּה ְל ַבֶ ֽדּ: Then they will bear the burden of the people with you so that you need not bear it alone.

יח ְו ֶא ָל־ה ָ֨ﬠם תּ ֹ ַ֜אמר ִה ְת ַק ְדּ ֣שׁוּ ְל ָמ ָח ֘ר ַ ֽו ֲא ַכ ְל ֶ ֣תּם And to the people, you shall say, 'Prepare yourselves for .18 ָבּ ָשׂר֒ ִ֡כּי ְבּ ִכי ֶת ֩ם ְבּ ָאְז ֵ֨ני ְי ָ ֜הוֹה ֵל ֗ ֹאמר ִ ֤מי ַ ֽי ֲא ִכ ֵ֨ל ֙נוּ ָבּ ָ֔שׂר tomorrow and you shall eat meat, because you have cried in ִכּ ֥י־טוֹב ָ ֖לנוּ ְבּ ִמ ְצָ ֑ר ִים ְו ָנ ַ֨תן ְי ָ ֧הוֹה ָל ֶ ֛כם ָבּ ָ ֖שׂר the ears of the Lord saying, "Who will feed us meat, for we had it better in Egypt." [Therefore,] the Lord will give you meat, and ַ ֽו ֲא ַכ ְל ֶ ֽתּם: you shall eat.

יט ֣ל ֹא ֥יוֹם ֶא ָ ֛חד ֽתּ ֹ ְאכ ֖לוּן ְו ֣ל ֹא יוֹ ָ ֑מִים ְו ֣ל ֹא | ֲח ִמ ָ ֣שּׁה ,You shall eat it not one day, not two days, not five days .19

ָי ִ֗מים ְול ֹ֙א ֲﬠ ָשָׂ ֣רה ָי ִ֔מים ְו ֖ל ֹא ֶﬠ ְשִׂ֥רים ֽיוֹם: .not ten days, and not twenty days

כ ַ ֣ﬠד | ֣חֹ ֶדשׁ ָי ִ֗מים ַ ֤ﬠד ֲא ֶשׁר־ ֵי ֵצ ֙א ֵ ֽמ ַא ְפּ ֶ֔כם ְו ָהָ ֥יה But even for a full month until it comes out your nose and .20 ָל ֶ ֖כם ְל ָזָ ֑רא ַ֗י ַﬠן ִֽכּ ְי־מ ַא ְס ֶ ֤תּם ֶאת־ ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ֲא ֶ ֣שׁר nauseates you. Because you have despised the Lord Who is

ְבּ ִקְר ְבּ ֶ֔כם ַו ִתּ ְב ֤כּוּ ְל ָפ ָנ ֙יו ֵל ֔ ֹאמר ָ ֥ל ָמּה ֶ ֖זּה ָי ָ ֥צאנוּ among you, and you cried before Him, saying, "Why did we ever leave Egypt?"'" ִמ ִמּ ְצָ ֽר ִים:

כא ַו֘יּ ֹ ֶאמ ֘ר מ ֶשׁ ֒ה ֵשׁ ֵשׁ־מ ֥אוֹת ֶ֨א ֶל ֙ף ַר ְג ִ֔לי ָה ָ֕ﬠם ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר Moses said, "Six hundred thousand people on foot are the .21 ָ ֽא ֹנ ִ ֖כי ְבּ ִקְר ֑בּוֹ ְו ַא ָ ֣תּה ָא ַ֗מְר ָתּ ָבּ ָשׂ ֙ר ֶא ֵ ֣תּן ָל ֶ֔הם ְו ָ ֽא ְכ ֖לוּ people in whose midst I am, and You say, 'I will give them ֥חֹ ֶדשׁ ָי ִֽמים: ?'meat, and they will eat it for a full month

כב ֲה ֧צ ֹאן וּ ָבָ ֛ קר ִי ָשּׁ ֵ ֥חט ָל ֶ ֖הם וּ ָמ ָ ֣צא ָל ֶ ֑הם ִ ֣אם If and cattle were slaughtered for them, would it .22 ֶאת ָ־כּ ְל־דֵּ ֥גי ַהָיּ֛ם ֵ ֽי ָא ֵ ֥סף ָל ֶ ֖הם וּ ָמ ָ ֥צא ָל ֶ ֽהם: suffice for them? If all the fish of the were gathered for them, would it suffice for them?"

כג ַו ֤יּ ֹ ֶאמר ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ֶאל־מ ֶ֔שׁה ֲהַ ֥יד ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ִתּ ְק ָ ֑צר ַﬠ ָ ֥תּה Then the Lord said to Moses, "Is My power limited? Now .23

ִתְר ֶ ֛אה ֲהִי ְקְר ֥ ְד ָבִ ֖רי ִאם־ ֽל ֹא: "!you will see if My word comes true for you or not

כד ַו ֵיּ ֵ ֣צא מ ֶ֗שׁה ַו ְי ַד ֵבּ ֙ר ֶא ָל־ה ָ֔ﬠם ֵ ֖את ִדּ ְבֵ ֣רי ְי ָ ֑הוֹה Moses went out and told the people what the Lord had .24 ַוֶ ֽיּ ֱא ֞סֹף ִשׁ ְב ִ֥ﬠים ִאי ֙שׁ ִמִזּ ְקֵ ֣ני ָה ָ֔ﬠם ַוַ ֽיּ ֲﬠ ֵ ֥מד ֹא ָ ֖תם said, and he assembled seventy men of the elders of the ְס ִבי ֥בֹת ָה ֽ ֹא ֶהל: .people, and stood them around the Tent

כה ַוֵ֨יֶּרד ְי ָ ֣הוֹה | ֶ ֽבּ ָﬠ ָנ֘ן ַו ְי ַד ֵ ֣בּר ֵא ָל ֒יו ַוָ֗יּ ֶאצל ִמ ָן־ה ֨ר ַ ֙וּ The Lord descended in a cloud and spoke to him, and He .25 increased some of the spirit that was on him and bestowed it ֲא ֶ ֣שׁר ָﬠ ָ֔ליו ַו ִיּ ֵ֕תּן ַﬠל־ ִשׁ ְב ִ֥ﬠים ִ ֖אישׁ ַה ְזּ ֵקִ ֑נים ַו ְי ִ֗הי ְכּ ֤נ ַוֹ ֲﬠ ֵל ֶיה ֙ם ָה ֔ר ַוּ ַוִֽיּ ְת ַנ ְבּ ֖אוּ ְו ֥ל ֹא ָי ָ ֽספוּ: ,on the seventy elders. And when the spirit rested upon them they prophesied, but they did not continue.

כו ַו ִיּ ָ ֽשּׁ ֲא ֣רוּ ְשֵׁ ֽנ ֲי־א ָנ ִ ֣שׁים | ַבּ ַ ֽמּ ֲח ֶ֡נה ֵ ֣שׁם ָ ֽה ֶא ָ ֣חד | Now two men remained in the camp; the name of one was .26 Eldad and the name of the second was Medad, and the spirit ֶא ְל ָ֡דּד ְו ֵשׁ ֩ם ַה ֵשּׁ ִ֨ני ֵמ ָ֜ידד ַו ָ ֧תּ ַנח ֲﬠ ֵל ֶ ֣הם ָה ֗ר ַוּ ְו ֵ֨ה ָמּ ֙ה ַבּ ְכּ ֻת ִ֔בים ְו ֥ל ֹא ָ ֽי ְצ ֖אוּ ָה ֑ ֹא ֱה ָלה ַו ִיּ ְת ַנ ְבּ ֖אוּ ַבּ ַ ֽמּ ֲחֶ ֽנה: rested upon them. They were among those written, but they did not go out to the tent, but prophesied in the camp.

כז ַוָיּ֣ ָ רץ ַה ַ֔נּ ַﬠר ַו ַיֵּ ֥גּד ְלמ ֶ ֖שׁה ַויּ ֹ ַ ֑אמר ֶא ְל ָ ֣דּד וּ ֵמ ָ֔ידד The lad ran and told Moses, saying, " .27

ִמ ְת ַנ ְבּ ִ ֖אים ַבּ ַ ֽמּ ֲחֶ ֽנה: "!are prophesying in the camp

כח ַוַ֜יּ ַﬠן ְי ֻ ֣הוֹשׁ ַ ִבּ ֗ן־נוּן ְמ ָשֵׁ ֥רת מ ֶ ֛שׁה ִמ ְבּ ֻחָ ֖ריו , the son of Nun, Moses' servant from his youth .28

ַויּ ֹ ַ ֑אמר ֲאדִֹ֥ני מ ֶ ֖שׁה ְכּ ָל ֵ ֽאם: "!answered and said, Moses, my master, imprison them

כט ַו ֤יּ ֹ ֶאמר ֙לוֹ מ ֶ֔שׁה ַ ֽה ְמ ַקֵ ֥נּא ַא ָ ֖תּה ִ ֑לי וּ ִ֨מי ִי ֵ֜תּן Moses said to him, "Are you zealous for my sake? If only .29 ָכּל־ ַ ֤ﬠם ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ְנ ִב ִ֔יאים ִֽכּי־ ִי ֵ ֧תּן ְי ָ ֛הוֹה ֶאת ֖־רוּחוֹ ֲﬠ ֵל ֶ ֽיהם: all the Lord's people were , that the Lord would bestow His spirit upon them!"

Seventh Portion Numbers Chapter 11

ל ַוֵ ֽיּ ָא ֵ ֥סף מ ֶ ֖שׁה ֶא ַל־ה ַ ֽמּ ֲחֶ ֑נה ֖הוּא ְו ִז ְקֵ ֥ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֽאל: .Then Moses entered the camp; he and the elders of Israel .30

לא ְו ֜ר ַוּ ָנ ַ ֣סע | ֵמ ֵ ֣את ְי ָ ֗הוֹה ַוָיּ֣ ָ גז ַשׂ ְלִוים֘ ִמ ַן־הָיּ ֒ם A wind went forth from the Lord and swept quails from the .31 sea and spread them over the camp about one day's journey ַו ִיּ ֨טּשׁ ַﬠ ַל־ה ַ ֽמּ ֲח ֶ֜נה ְכֶּ ֧דֶר ֣יוֹם ֗כֹּה וּ ְכֶ ֤דֶר ֙יוֹם ֔כֹּה ְס ִבי ֖בוֹת ַה ַ ֽמּ ֲחֶ ֑נה וּ ְכ ַא ָמּ ַ ֖תִים ַﬠ ְל־פֵּ ֥ני ָה ָ ֽאֶרץ: ,this way and one day's journey that way, around the camp about two above the ground.

לב ַוָיּ֣ ָ קם ָה ָ֡ﬠם ָכּ ַל־ה ֩יּוֹם ַה ֨הוּא ְו ָכ ַל־ה ַ֜לּ ְי ָלה ְו ֣כֹל | The people rose up all that day and all night and the next .32 ֣יוֹם ַה ָ ֽמּ ֳחָ ֗רת ַוַ ֽיּ ַא ְס ֙פוּ ֶאת ַ־ה ְשּׂ ָ֔ליו (כתיב השלו) day and gathered the quails. [Even] the one who gathered the least collected ten heaps. They spread them around the camp in piles. ַה ַמּ ְמ ִ֕ﬠיט ָא ַ ֖סף ֲﬠ ָשָׂ ֣רה ֳח ָמִ ֑רים ַו ִיּ ְשׁ ְט ֤חוּ ָל ֶה ֙ם ָשׁ ֔ט ַוֹ ְס ִבי ֖בוֹת ַה ַ ֽמּ ֲחֶ ֽנה:

לג ַה ָבּ ָ֗שׂר ֶ֨עוֹד ֙נּוּ ֵ ֣בּין ִשׁ ֵנּ ֶ֔יהם ֶ ֖טֶרם ִי ָכֵּ ֑רת ְו ַ ֤אף ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה The meat was still between their teeth; it was not yet .33 ָחָ ֣רה ָב ָ֔ﬠם ַוַיּ֤ ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ָבּ ָ֔ﬠם ַמ ָ ֖כּה ַר ָ ֥בּה ְמ ֽ ֹאד: ,finished, and the anger of the Lord flared against the people and the Lord struck the people with a very mighty blow.

לד ַו ִיּ ְקָ ֛רא ֶאת־ ֵ ֽשׁ ַם־ה ָמּ ֥קוֹם ַה ֖הוּא ִק ְב ֣רוֹת ַה ַ ֽתּ ֲאָ ֑וה He named that place Kivroth Hata'avah [Graves of .34

ִכּי־ ָשׁ ֙ם ָ ֽק ְב ֔רוּ ֶאת ָ־ה ָ ֖ﬠם ַה ִמּ ְת ַאִֽוּים: .Craving], for there they buried the people who craved

לה ִמ ִקּ ְב ֧רוֹת ַה ַ ֽתּ ֲאָ ֛וה ָ ֽנ ְס ֥ﬠוּ ָה ָ ֖ﬠם ֲח ֵצ ֑רוֹת ַוִֽיּ ְה֖יוּ ,From Kivroth Hata'avah the people traveled to Hazeroth .35

ַ ֽבּ ֲח ֵצֽרוֹת: .and they stayed in Hazeroth

Numbers Chapter 12 א ַו ְתַּד ֵ֨בּר ִמְרָ ֤ים ְו ַ ֽא ֲה ֙רֹן ְבּמ ֶ֔שׁה ַﬠ ֹל־א ֛דוֹת ָ ֽה ִא ָ ֥שּׁה and Aaron spoke against Moses regarding the .1 ַה ֻכּ ִ ֖שׁית ֲא ֶ ֣שׁר ָלָ ֑ קח ִֽכּ ִי־א ָ ֥שּׁה ֻכ ִ ֖שׁית ָלָ ֽ קח: Cushite woman he had married, for he had married a Cushite woman.

ב ַו ֽיּ ֹ ְאמ ֗רוּ ֲהַ ֤רק ַא־ ְבּמ ֶשׁ ֙ה ִדּ ֶ ֣בּר ְי ָ ֔הוֹה ֲה ֖ל ֹא ַגּם־ ָ ֣בּנוּ They said, "Has the Lord spoken only to Moses? Hasn't He .2

ִד ֵ ֑בּר ַו ִיּ ְשׁ ַ ֖מע ְי ָ ֽהוֹה: .spoken to us too?" And the Lord heard

ג ְו ָה ִ֥אישׁ מ ֶ ֖שׁה ָﬠָ ֣ניו (כתיב ענו) ְמ ֑ ֹאד ִמכֹּ ֙ל ָה ָא ָ֔דם Now this man Moses was exceedingly humble, more so .3

ֲא ֶ ֖שׁר ַﬠ ְל־פֵּ ֥ני ָ ֽה ֲא ָד ָ ֽמה: .than any person on the face of the earth

ד ַו֨יּ ֹ ֶאמר ְי ָ ֜הוֹה ִפּ ְת ֗ ֹאם ֶאל־מ ֶ ֤שׁה ְו ֶא ַ ֽל־א ֲה ֙רֹן The Lord suddenly said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, "Go .4 ְו ֶא ִל־מְר ָ֔ים ְצ ֥אוּ ְשׁ ָל ְשׁ ְתּ ֶ ֖כם ֶא ֣ ֹל־א ֶהל ֵ ֑מוֹﬠד ַוֵ ֽיּ ְצ ֖אוּ out, all three of you, to the Tent of Meeting!" And all three went ְשׁ ָל ְשׁ ָ ֽתּם: .out

ה ַוֵיּ֤ ֶ רד ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ְבּ ַﬠ ֣מּוּד ָﬠ ָ֔נן ַוַ ֽיּ ֲﬠ ֖ ֹמד ֶ ֣פּ ַתח ָה ֑ ֹא ֶהל The Lord descended in a pillar of cloud and stood at the .5 ַו ִיּ ְקָר ֙א ַ ֽא ֲה ֣רֹן וּ ִמְר ָ֔ים ַוֵ ֽיּ ְצ ֖אוּ ְשׁ ֵנ ֶ ֽיהם: entrance of the Tent. He called to Aaron and Miriam, and they both went out.

ו ַו ֖יּ ֹ ֶאמר ִשׁ ְמ ָ ֣עוּ־נא ְד ָבָ ֑רי ִאם־ִֽי ְהֶי ֙ה ְנ ִ ֣ב ֲיא ֶ֔כם ְי ָ ֗הוֹה He said, "Please listen to My words. If there be prophets .6 ַבּ ַמְּר ָא ֙ה ֵא ָ ֣ליו ֶא ְתַו ָ֔דּע ַ ֽבּ ֲח ֖לוֹם ֲא ַד ֶבּר־ ֽבּוֹ: among you, [I] the Lord will make Myself known to him in a vision; I will speak to him in a dream.

ז ל ֹא ֵ ֖־כן ַﬠ ְבִ ֣דּי מ ֶ ֑שׁה ְבּ ָכל־ ֵבּי ִ ֖תי ֶ ֽנ ֱא ָ ֥מן ֽהוּא: Not so is My servant Moses; he is faithful throughout My .7 house.

ח ֶ ֣פּה ֶא ֶ֞ל־פּה ֲא ַד ֶבּר־ ֗בּוֹ וּ ַמְר ֶא ֙ה ְו ֣ל ֹא ְב ִח ֔ידֹת With him I speak mouth to mouth; in a vision and not in .8 ְוּת ֻמַ ֥נת ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ַי ִ ֑בּיט וּ ַמ ֨דּ ַ֙וּ ֣ל ֹא ְיֵר ֶ֔אתם ְל ַד ֵ ֖בּר ְבּ ַﬠ ְבִ֥דּי riddles, and he beholds the image of the Lord. So why were ְבמ ֶ ֽשׁה: ? you not afraid to speak against My servant Moses

ט ַוִֽיּ ַח ַ ֧ר־אף ְי ָ ֛הוֹה ָ ֖בּם ַו ֵיּ ַ ֽל: .The wrath of the Lord flared against them and He left .9 י ְו ֶ ֽה ָﬠ ָ֗נן ָ֚סר ֵמ ַ ֣ﬠל ָה ֔ ֹא ֶהל ְו ִהֵ ֥נּה ִמְרָי֖ם ְמצַֹ ֣ר ַﬠת ,The cloud departed from above the Tent, and behold .10 ַכּ ָ ֑שּׁ ֶלג ַוִ ֧יּ ֶפן ַ ֽא ֲה ֛רֹן ֶא ִל־מְרָי֖ם ְו ִהֵ ֥נּה ְמצָֹ ֽר ַﬠת: Miriam was afflicted with tzara'ath, [as white] as snow. Then Aaron turned to Miriam and behold, she was afflicted with tzara'ath.

יא ַו ֥יּ ֹ ֶאמר ַ ֽא ֲה ֖רֹן ֶאל־מ ֶ ֑שׁה ִ ֣בּי ֲאדִֹ֔ני ַא ָ֨ל־נא ָת ֵ ֤שׁת Aaron said to Moses, "Please, master, do not sin upon .11

ָﬠ ֵ֨ל ֙ינוּ ַח ָ֔טּאת ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר ַ ֖נוֹא ְלנוּ ַ ֽו ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר ָח ָ ֽטאנוּ: .us for acting foolishly and for sinning

יב ַא ָ ֥ל־נא ְת ִ ֖הי ַכּ ֵ ֑מּת ֲא ֶ ֤שׁר ְבּ ֵצ ֙אתוֹ ֵמֶ ֣ר ֶחם ִא ֔מּוֹ Let her not be like the dead, which comes out of his .12

ַוֵ ֽיּ ָא ֵ ֖כל ֲח ִ֥צי ְב ָשֽׂרוֹ: "!mother's womb with half his flesh consumed

יג ַו ִיּ ְצ ַ ֣ﬠק מ ֶ֔שׁה ֶאל־ ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ֵל ֑ ֹאמר ֵ֕אל ָ ֛נא ְר ָ ֥פא ָ ֖נא ,Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, "I beseech you, God .13

ָ ֽלהּ: ".please heal her

יד ַו֨יּ ֹ ֶאמר ְי ָ ֜הוֹה ֶאל־מ ֶ֗שׁה ְו ָא ִ֨ב ָ֙יה ָי ֤רֹק ָיַר ֙ק ְבּ ָפ ֶ֔נ ָיה The Lord replied to Moses, "If her father were to spit in her .14 face, would she not be humiliated for seven days? She shall be ֲה ֥ל ֹא ִת ָכּ ֵ ֖לם ִשׁ ְב ַ ֣ﬠת ָי ִ ֑מים ִתּ ָסּ ֵ֞גר ִשׁ ְב ַ ֤ﬠת ָי ִמי ֙ם ִמ ֣חוּץ ַל ַ ֽמּ ֲח ֶ֔נה ְו ַא ַ ֖חר ֵ ֽתּ ָא ֵ ֽסף: confined for seven days outside the camp, and afterwards she may enter.

טו ַו ִתּ ָסֵּ ֥גר ִמְרָ ֛ים ִמ ֥חוּץ ַל ַ ֽמּ ֲחֶ ֖נה ִשׁ ְב ַ ֣ﬠת ָי ִ ֑מים ְו ָה ָﬠ ֙ם ,So Miriam was confined outside the camp for seven days .15

֣ל ֹא ָנ ַ֔סע ַﬠ ֵ ֽד־ה ָא ֵ ֖סף ִמְרָ ֽים: .and the people did not travel until Miriam had entered

טז ְו ַא ַ ֛חר ָ ֽנ ְס ֥ﬠוּ ָה ָ ֖ﬠם ֵ ֽמ ֲח ֵצ ֑רוֹת ַוַ ֽיּ ֲח ֖נוּ ְבּ ִמ ְד ַ ֥בּר Then the people departed from Hazeroth, and they .16

טז ְו ָנ ַ֨חל ְי ָ֚הוֹה ֶאת־ ְי ָהוּד ֙ה ֶח ְל ֔קוֹ ַ ֖ﬠל ַא ְד ַ ֣מת ַה ֑קֹּ ֶדשׁ And the Lord shall inherit Judah as His share on the Holy .16

וּ ָב ַ ֥חר ֖ﬠוֹד ִבּ ֽיר ָוּשׁ ָל ִֽם: .Land, and He shall again choose

יז ַ ֥הס ָכּל ָבּ ָ ֖שׂר ִמ ְפֵּ ֣ני ְי ָ ֑הוֹה ִ֥כּי ֵנ ֖ﬠוֹר ִמ ְמּ ֥ﬠוֹן ָק ְד ֽשׁוֹ: Silence all flesh from before the Lord, for He is aroused .17 out of His holy habitation.

ב ַו֨יּ ֹ ֶאמר ְי ָ ֜הוֹה ֶא ַל־ה ָשּׂ ָ֗טן ִי ְג ַ֨ﬠר ְי ָ֚הוֹה ְבּ ֙ ַה ָשּׂ ָ֔טן And the Lord said to Satan: The Lord shall rebuke you, O .2 ְו ִי ְג ַ֚ ﬠר ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ְבּ ֔ ַהבֹּ ֵ ֖חר ִבּ ֽיר ָוּשׁ ָל ִ ֑ם ֲה ֧לוֹא ֶ ֥ז ֥ה ֖אוּד Satan; and the Lord shall rebuke you, He who chose ֻמ ָ ֥צּל ֵמ ֵ ֽאשׁ: ?Jerusalem. Is this one not a brand plucked from fire

ג ִֽו ֻ֕יהוֹשׁ ַ ָהָ ֥יה ָל ֖בוּשׁ ְבּ ָגִ ֣דים ִ ֑צוֹאים ְועֹ ֵ ֖מד ִל ְפֵ ֥ני Now Joshua was wearing filthy garments and standing .3

ַה ַמּ ְל ָ ֽא: .before the angel

ד ַוַיּ֣ ַﬠן ַו֗יּ ֹ ֶאמר ֶא ָל־ה ֽﬠֹ ְמ ִ֚דים ְל ָפ ָנ ֙יו ֵל ֔ ֹאמר ָה ִ ֛סירוּ And he [the angel] raised his voice and said to those .4 standing before him, saying, "Take the filthy garments off him." ַה ְבּ ָגִ֥דים ַהצֹּ ִ ֖אים ֵמ ָﬠ ָ ֑ליו ַ ֣ויּ ֹ ֶאמר ֵא ָ֗ליו ְר ֵ֨אה ֶ ֽה ֱﬠ ַ֚בְר ִתּי ֵ ֽמ ָﬠ ֶ֙ל ֙י ֲﬠוֹ ֶ֔נ ְו ַה ְל ֵ ֥בּשׁ ֽ ֹא ְת ֖ ַ ֽמ ֲח ָל ֽצוֹת: And he said to him, "See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I have clad you with clean garments."

ה ָ ֽו ֹא ַ֕מר ָי ִ ֛שׂימוּ ָצִ֥ניף ָט ֖הוֹר ַﬠל־ר ֹא ֑שׁוֹ ַו ָיּ ִשׂי ֩מוּ And I said, "Let them put a pure miter on his head," and .5 ַה ָצּ ִ֨ניף ַה ָטּ ֜הוֹר ַﬠל־ר ֹא ֗שׁוֹ ַו ַיּ ְל ִבּ ֻ֙שׁ ֙הוּ ְבּ ָגִ֔דים וּ ַמ ְל ַ ֥א they put the pure miter on his head. And they had clothed him ְי ָ ֖הוֹה עֹ ֵ ֽמד: .with garments while the angel of the Lord was standing

ו ַ ֙ו ָיּ ַﬠ ֙ד ַמ ְל ַ ֣א ְי ָ ֔הוֹה ִֽבּ ֻ ֖יהוֹשׁ ַ ֵל ֽ ֹאמר: ,And the angel of the Lord warned Joshua, saying .6

ז ֽכֹּה ָ־א ַ֞מר ְי ָ ֣הוֹה ְצ ָב ֗אוֹת ִאם־ ִבּ ְדָר ַ֚כי ֵתּ ֵל ֙ ְו ִ ֣אם So said the Lord of Hosts: If you walk in My ways, and if .7 ֶאת ִ־מ ְשׁ ַמְר ִ ֣תּי ִת ְשׁ ֔ ֹמר ְו ַג ַם־א ָתּ ֙ה ָתִּ ֣דין ֶאת־ ֵבּי ִ֔תי ְוַ ֖גם ,you keep My charge, you, too, shall judge My house, and you

ִתּ ְשׁ ֣ ֹמר ֶאת ֲ־ח ֵצָ ֑רי ְו ָנ ַת ִ֚תּי ְל ֙ ַמ ְה ְל ִ֔כים ֵ ֥בּין ָה ֽﬠֹ ְמִ ֖דים too, shall guard My courtyards, and I will give you free access among these who stand by. ָה ֵ ֽא ֶלּה:

ח ְֽשׁ ַמע ָ֞־נא ְי ֻ ֣הוֹשׁ ַ | ַהכֹּ ֵ ֣הן ַה ָגּ ֗דוֹל ַא ָתּ ֙ה ְוֵר ֶ֙ﬠ ֙י Hearken, now, O -you and your .8 ַהֽיֹּ ְשׁ ִ ֣בים ְל ָפ ֶ֔ני ִֽכּ ַי־א ְנ ֵ ֥שׁי מוֹ ֵ ֖פת ֵ ֑ה ָמּה ִֽכּ ִי־ה ְנִ֥ני ֵמ ִ ֛ביא companions who sit before you, for they are men worthy of a ֶאת־ ַﬠ ְבִ ֖דּי ֶ ֽצ ַמח: .miracle-for, behold! I bring My servant, the Shoot

ט ִ ֣כּי | ִהֵ ֣נּה ָה ֶ֗א ֶבן ֲא ֶ֚שׁר ָנ ַ֙ת ִ ֙תּי ִל ְפֵ ֣ני ְי ֻ֔הוֹשׁ ַ .For, behold the stone that I have placed before Joshua .9 ַﬠ ֶ ֥ל־א ֶבן ַא ַ ֖חת ִשׁ ְב ָ ֣ﬠה ֵﬠ ָ ֑ינ ִ ים ִֽה ְנִ ֧ני ְמ ַפ ֵ ֣תַּ ִפּ ֻתּ ָ֗חהּ ,Seven eyes are directed to one stone. Behold! I untie its knots

ְנ ֻא ֙ם ְי ָ ֣הוֹה ְצ ָב ֔אוֹת וּ ַמ ְשׁ ִ ֛תּי ֶאת־ ֲﬠ וֹ֥ן ָה ָ ֽאֶר ַץ־ה ִ ֖היא says the Lord of Hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. ְבּ֥יוֹם ֶא ָ ֽחד:

י ַבּ֣יּוֹם ַה ֗הוּא ְנ ֻא ֙ם ְי ָ ֣הוֹה ְצ ָב ֔אוֹת ִתּ ְקְר ֖אוּ ִ ֣אישׁ On that day, says the Lord of Hosts, you shall call-each .10 ְלֵר ֵ ֑ﬠהוּ ֶא ַ ֥ל־תּ ַחת ֶ ֖גּ ֶפן ְו ֶא ַ ֥ל־תּ ַחת ְתּ ֵאָ ֽנה: man to his neighbor-to come under his vine and under his fig tree.

Zechariah Chapter 4 א ַוָ֕יּ ָשׁב ַה ַמּ ְל ָ ֖א ַהדֵֹּ ֣בר ִ ֑בּי ַו ְי ִﬠ ֵ ֕יר ִני ְכּ ִ ֖אישׁ And the angel who spoke with me returned, and he .1

ֲא ֶשׁר־ ֵי ֥ﬠוֹר ִמ ְשּׁ ָנ ֽתוֹ: .awakened me as a man who wakes up from his sleep

ב ַו ֣יּ ֹ ֶאמר ֵא ַ֔לי ָ ֥מה ַא ָ ֖תּה רֹ ֶ ֑אה ָ ֽו ֹא ַ֡מר (כתיב ָו ֹיא ַ֡מר) ,And he said to me, "What do you see?" And I said, "I saw .2 ָר ִ ֣אי ִתי ְו ִהֵ ֽנּה ְ־מ ַנוֹר ֩ת ָז ָ֨הב ֻכּ ָ֜לּהּ ְו ֻגָ ֣לּהּ ַﬠל־ר ֹא ָ֗שׁהּ -and behold [there was] a candelabrum all of gold, with its oil

ְו ִשׁ ְב ָ֚ﬠה ֵנֽרֹ ֶ֙ת ָ֙יה ָﬠ ֶ֔ל ָיה ִשׁ ְב ָ֚ﬠה ְו ִשׁ ְב ָﬠ ֙ה ֽמ ָוּצ ֔קוֹת bowl on top of it, and its seven lamps thereon; seven tubes each to the lamps that were on top of it. ַל ֵנּ ֖רוֹת ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר ַﬠל־ר ֹא ָ ֽשׁהּ:

ג ְוּשַׁ ֥נ ִ ים ֵזי ִ ֖תים ָﬠ ֶ ֑ל ָיה ֶא ָח ֙ד ִמי ִ ֣מין ַה ֻגּ ָ֔לּה ְו ֶא ָ ֖חד And [there were] two olive trees near it; one on the right of .3

ַﬠל־ ְשׂמ ֹא ָ ֽלהּ: .the bowl, and one on its left

ד ָו ַ֙א ַ ֙ﬠן ָ ֽו ֹא ַ֔מר ֶאל ַה ַמּ ְל ָ ֛א ַהדֵֹּ ֥בר ִ ֖בּי ֵל ֑ ֹאמר ָ ֥מה ,So I answered and spoke to the angel who talked with me .4

ֵ ֖א ֶלּה ֲאדִֹֽני: "?saying, "What are these, my lord

ה ַ֠ו ַיּ ַﬠן ַה ַמּ ְל ָ֞א ַהדֵֹּ ֥בר ִ ֙בּי ַו ֣יּ ֹ ֶאמר ֵא ַ֔לי ֲה ֥לוֹא ָי ַ ֖ד ְﬠתּ And the angel who spoke with me answered, and he said to .5 ָמה ֵ ֣ה ָמּה ֵ ֑א ֶלּה ָ ֽו ֹא ַ ֖מר ֥ל ֹא ֲאדִֹֽני: me, "Do you not know what these are?" And I said, "No, my lord."

ו ַוַ֜יּ ַﬠן ַויּ֚ ֹ ֶאמר ֵא ַ ֙לי ֵל ֔ ֹאמר ֶזה ְדּ ַבר־ ְי ָ ֔הוֹה ֶאל־ ְזֻר ָבּ ֶ ֖בל And he answered and spoke to me, saying, "This is the .6 word of the Lord to , saying: 'Not by military force ֵל ֑ ֹאמר ֚ל ֹא ְב ַ֙ח ִי ֙ל ְו ֣ל ֹא ְב ֔כַֹ ִ ֣כּי ִאם־ ְבּ ִ֔רוּחי ָא ַ ֖מר ְי ָ ֥הוֹה ְצ ָב ֽאוֹת: and not by physical strength, but by My spirit,' says the Lord of Hosts.

ז ִֽמ ַי־א ָ ֧תּה ַ ֽה ַר־ה ָגּ֛דוֹל ִל ְפֵ ֥ני ְזֻר ָבּ ֶ ֖בל ְל ִמי ֑שֹׁר ְו ִהוֹצ ֙יא Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you .7 ֶאת ָ־ה ֶ ֣א ֶבן ָ ֽהר ֹא ָ֔שׁה ְתּ ֻשׁ ֕אוֹת ֵ ֥חן ֵ ֖חן ָ ֽלהּ: ,sink to a plain! He will bring out the stone of the main architect with shouts of grace, grace to it."
