*The Green Man is an ancient symbol of rebirth, represented in the circle of growth each Spring.

*The Green Man is often represented as a sculpture of a face surrounded by Leaves.

*Many artists have painted and sculptured the image of the Green Man (see examples below) and he has been carved into buildings such as churches.

• WHAT TO DO:

• Equipment needed: • Pencil, rubber, sharpener, coloured pencils or felt tip pens or pastels

• Draw a face of a man with his mouth wide open (see photo on the right). • Draw lightly with a pencil and draw the eyes, nose and mouth too. (Do not draw the face outline or hair.) Step 2- Draw leaves and berries around the face and draw eyebrows like leaves ( be creative). Colour your Green Man drawing using complementary colours (opposite colours) on the colour wheel, such as red and green.
