Machine Shop Production Engineer

Machine Shop Production Engineer This exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Engineer with experience of working within a mechanical environment to join the team here at Elcometer. The successful candidate will be responsible for data capture and entry into our ERP system (Epicor) to ensure BoM's and MoM's are correct and reflect the true cost of production and that materials and parts are moved correctly throughout the .

Problem solving skills and the ability to work accurately is essential as the role will involve data capture, manipulation and analysis for process improvement, ERP systems and reporting purposes. The Machine Shop Production Engineer will be responsible for identifying process improvements and ensuring smooth introduction of new processes for existing and new products. The successful candidate will be driven with a positive, proactive and professional approach to their work.

Job Responsibilities  Identify and implement and test methods to introduce new products.  Monitor and ensure standard times and quality levels are achieved. Ensure root causes of quality issues are highlighted and the necessary steps are taken to avoid future issues  Maintain data integrity and analyse and input standard times into the ERP System  Produce reports and capital justifications for process improvements.  Provide design for manufacture input during the new product introduction processes.  Identify & implement safety procedures & documentation to comply with current legislation (operating instructions, maintenance records etc).

Key Requirements The successful candidate will have at least five years Production experience in a machine shop/ mechanical environment and:  Degree/HND/HNC level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.  Experience in the use of documentations (BOMs, assembly drawings etc).  Experience in the use of methods and production instructions.  Experience of jig and fixture design  Experience of process improvement techniques and engineering change implementation.  Experience in the use of Poka Yoke techniques for error prevention.

Desirable  BSC or higher in a relevant engineering discipline.  Experience with CMM programming and operation.  Experience with Part Marking LASER programming and operation  Experience of using ERP manufacturing systems

This position is not suitable for a person who has allergies to materials such as glue, resins, oils, grease and hydraulic fluids. The role involves working with magnets or being in and around magnetic fields, working in confined spaces and heavy lifting.
