SAN DIEGO CHARGERS Nov. 25, 1984 Three Rivers Stadium Visitor Home Date Site Pittsburgh, Pa.

STEELER COACH (Postgarne): "It was a big day for both our offense and defense. "Offensively, everytime we went outon the field we felt we had to do something because of San Diego's potential. "Our defense did a great job.The first TD was on special teams and then in the second half, San Diego got one long scoring drive. The defense again made some big plays and helped the offense.

"Against the Chargers, we wanted to be aggressive and tryto score. That's what we felt we had to do to win.We wanted to control the football with the run and pass..

"Walter (Abercrornbie) 100-yardgame was an important step for him. He's been running very well lately and we felt we should get him the ballmore.

(Then, you game plan worked to perfection today?): "I don't know if itwas the game plan.It took some great individual efforts. We were able to get our receivers running and Mark had time to throw. The receivers made some big plays. In some cases, they outplayed the defender for the football. When we have time to throw, we are able to do a lot of things.

(What about Lipps, does he remindyou more and more of "We've been through this before. Louis is Louis. He's bigger and stronger. (What about the play of the offensive line?): "Eachman was awarded a game ball. That's more than. I can say. They opened the holes for the run and provided great pass protection. (What about Gary Anderson's 55-yard field goal?):"He's beenworking on 64-yarders in-practice under much the same conditionsso this was a small one.You don't always try them from that area because of field possession but itgoes back to wanting to be aggressive.

SAN. DIEGO'S DON CORYELL: . .

"Obviously, we played a fired up Pittsburgh team. They played extremely well. Malone played a great game. . .just a great game. "It was no contest, today. IrWe played very, very poorly except for o.ne beautiful run by 'Train' (Lionel James) I thought th.at would get us going.I thought we could come back.in the second half. But, it didd:'t work out like that. "Pittsburgh played well and could have beaten anybody today.

(How could you play so well last week, then let this happen today?): "I sure wish Iknew. We had a find week of practice.I thought we were ready to play a football game today. You cannot take anything away from Pittsburgh. They made us look awfully bad."

WWCHARLIE JOINER

"We weren't in it today and I started everything out by dropping that pass.I would trade the catches today for a win."

QR ED LUTHER: "I felt good throwing the ball. We had some class guys out there.I knew they would hang with us and play hard. But, when you are down, you have to put the ball in the end zone and that took us out of our game plan."
