    Franco Harris President, Super Bakery Former Steeler & Pro Football Hall of Famer Franco Harris is well known for his outstanding career in the National Football League, one so productive that it earned him a 1990 induction into The Pro Football Hall of Fame. He also was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2011. During his years with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Harris set the standard for NFL running backs - big, fast and agile with explosive cutback ability. He established many team and league records, played in nine Pro Bowls, and led the Steelers’ charge to four Super Bowl victories. Franco was named MVP of Super Bowl IX. His “Immaculate Reception” in the final seconds of the 1972 AFC playoff game against the Oakland Raiders is considered to be the greatest individual play in NFL history. After football, Harris applied himself to his college degree in Food Service and Administration. He started out in the early 1980’s with a small distribution company called Franco’s All Naturèl, focusing on high quality, natural products. This is where and how Harris learned the business, driving thousands of miles, meeting with potential customers, c-store chains and distributors. Orange, NJ, September 28, 2012 – President Obama is seen as showing better sportsmanship than his opponent Mitt Romney, according to a poll conducted this week by the Seton Hall Sports Poll. Asked “regardless of whom you support, which candidate do you think shows better sportsmanship,” 53% said Obama, 29% said Romney, and 18% had no opinion. And while partisan politics may have affected that reading, the results from respondents who identified themselves as independent may be more telling: 58% said Obama showed better sportsmanship, 28% Romney, and 14% had no opinion. The poll was conducted among 688 randomly selected people across the country, including people on cell phones, of whom 487 said they followed sports at least somewhat. The poll has a margin of error of 3.8%; 4.5% for sports fans. The poll also found that to the question “which candidate do you think would make a better football coach,” Obama drew 48% to Romney’s 30%, and a wider margin among independents, 52% - 31%. Asked which party has more of the “win at all costs” attitude commonly associated with sports, 43% said Republicans, 36% Democrats, and among independents it was 48% to 38% for the Republicans. (The margin of error for independent voters was 5.9%). “One might expect partisan responses to these questions, so the results among independents is especially telling,” noted Rick Gentile, director of the poll, which is conducted by the Sharkey Institute.

Batch, a nine-year NFL veteran and Pittsburgh-area native, starts in place of BEN ROETHLISBERGER, who underwent an emergency appendectomy on Sunday. Batch aims to lead the Steelers to their fourth consecutive Kickoff Weekend victory in the club’s first game following its Super Bowl XL championship. Culpepper, making his first start as a member of the Dolphins, can make history in 2006 by being the first player to lead both the AFC and NFC in touchdown passes for a season. OFFENSE: TE HEATH MILLER, PITTSBURGH STEELERS • Pittsburgh’s first-round pick HEATH MILLER from Virginia (No. 30 overall) caught 17 passes from his tight end position for 184 yards (10.8 avg.) and five TDs during the month and caught a season-high two TDs in the Steelers’ 20-19 Monday Night win against Baltimore in Week 8. Miller leads all Steelers with six touchdowns, already accounting for the most in a season by a Steelers tight end since MARK BRUENER recorded six in 1997. Miller’s six TD catches are tied for the most by an AFC tight end, helping Pittsburgh go 3-1 (.750) in the month. His 36 points lead all rookie non-kickers on the year. Miller has an active streak of four consecutive games (all in October) with a TD reception, tying the team record for tight ends set by ERIC GREEN in 1991. Miller is only the third rookie tight end in NFL history to catch six TD passes in his first seven games, joining RAYMOND CHESTER (Oakland Raiders, 1970) and Green (Steelers, 1990).
