STORYLINE: For literally the first time in Super Bowl history, the team that passed the best won the game and Pittsburgh threw for a record 302 yards, 121 of those yards on catches by John Stallworth (Alabama A&M). Stallworth had 118 of those on two fourth-quarter receptions including a 73-yard TD catch. It was the second straight Super Bowl that Stallworth had a receiving TD over 70 yards.

Terry Nelson, TE (Arkansas AM&N) Two receptions for 20 yards. - Caught 6-yard pass from Ferragamo late in second quarter. - In last possession of second quarter, catches 14-yard pass from Ferragamo. Jackie Slater, LOT (Jackson State) Future Hall of Famer started for Rams at left tackle in loss to Pittsburgh.

PITTSBURGH Donnie Shell, S (South Carolina State) Five tackles, two assists in win over Los Angeles - On the third play of the game, teamed with Dirk Winston to stop RB Cullen Bryant after an 11-yard pass from QB . - On Rams’ second possession, tackles RB after 6-yard pass from Ferragamo. On next play stopped Tyler after 39- yard run around left end. - Stopped TE Terry Nelson after 6-yard pass completion over the middle late in the second quarter. - Stopped WR after 10-yard pass from Ferragamo late in second quarter. - Combined with Jack Lambert to throw Tyler for 1-yard loss in middle of third quarter. - Tackles Waddy after 15-yard fourth-quarter pass. L. C. Greenwood, DE (Arkansas AM&N) One tackle in win over Los Angeles. - Stops Bryant after 1-yard run up the middle late in the second quarter. Play came one play after Bradshaw was intercepted. Pittsburgh entered fourth quarter trailing 19- 17. - In fourth quarter, stops Dennard after 8-yard pass completion. - Stops Tyler after 3-yard completion in final minute. John Stallworth, WR (Alabama A&M) Had three (3) receptions (for the second year in a row) for 121 yards including a 73- yard TD catch in the fourth quarter in win over Los Angeles. Also had a tackle after an . - Catches 3-yard pass from QB Terry Bradshaw in opening drive of second quarter. - Tackles Rams’ DB Ronnie Smith after third-quarter interception. - On 3rd-and-8 from the Pittsburgh 27 with 12:04 to go in the fourth quarter, catches 73-yard bomb from Bradshaw for giving Pittsburgh the lead. - In possession with 5:28 left, catches 45-yard pass from Bradshaw down to the LA 27- yard line. Four plays later, Harris scores from the 1-yard line to put Pittsburgh up 31-19.

MVP - Terry Bradshaw, QB, Pittsburgh - 14 of 21 for 309 yards, 2 TDs, 3 ints.

KEY FACTS: Steelers’ won despite three thrown by Bradshaw. Pitts- burgh’s dynamic duo of future Hall of Famers (79 receiving yards) and John Stallworth (Alabama A&M, 121 receiving yards) combined for 200 receiving yards. Steelers trailed 13-10 at the half and 19-17 after three quarters. Steelers’ two fourth-quarter TDs included a 73-yard scoring catch from Stallworth and a 45-yard Stallworth catch that set up the clinching score. The Rams outgained the Steelers on the ground (107 to 94).

Blount, Greenwood, Shell and Stallworth finished with four Super Bowl rings after going 4-0 with wins in Super Bowls IX, X, XIII and XIV.
