Ste Smith, LUSU President 2012-13 “ensuring representation, support, opportunities and services for Lancaster students” what lusu does We provide a mix of representation, opportunities, activities and services for Lancaster students. We are a not-for-profit, charitable organisation so any money we make through our commercial activity is ploughed straight back into offering our members more and better services. We look after all of the societies and sports clubs on campus, provide hundreds of volunteering opportunities both here and globally plus we put on big events like Roses and Grad Ball . We run a broad base of commercial operations from a nightclub to retail units. Representation is at the heart of what we do. We offer students both professional advice services and have a network of elected student officers through the College JCRs and Cross Campus Officers to ensure the student voice is heard. The political leadership of our Union comes from our elected officers, led by the President and team of 5 full time Vice Presidents. As a Students’ Union we are a registered educational charity. We have a Board of Trustees to oversee key decision making that relates to the future of LUSU. The trustees have a responsibility to ensure that LUSU makes sound financial decisions, works within the law and works for the benefit for its members. We are governed by our Constitution and Bye Laws, which outline how we operate and what we do.
