About Clanton’s Cafe Clanton’s Cafe on Historical Route 66 is owned and operated by fourth generation Clantons, Dennis and Melissa (Clanton) Patrick. There has been a Clanton in the cafe business in Vinita since Sweet Tater Clanton opened the Busy Bee in 1927. The current Clanton’s Cafe was opened at this location in 1947 by Cleve and Ma Clanton and has been serving hungry travelers ever since. We are now the oldenst family-owned restaurant on historic Route 66 in Oklahoma. A Vinita family tradition of which we are proud. We take pride in the effort that is put into each item of food. Our potatoes are hand-peeled and hand-cut. Our salad dressings are homemade and our pies are made from scratch. Our recipes haven’t changed much since Sweet Tater developed them in 1927. Our Chicken Fried Steak, Calf Fries and Chicken and Dressing have been featured in Gourmet Magazine, Oklahoma Today and most recently on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives”.
