Cor Meibion Colwyn Colwyn Male Voice Choir The Choir, founded in the 1890s, has a long history of choral successes. In April 2015 they won First Prizes in the Male Choir and Traditional song categories in the International Pan Celtic Festival in , Northern In July 2015 Colwyn won 3rd place in the Male Choir competition at the Llangollen International Musical . The choir also competed in August 2015 at the National Eisteddfod at Meifod and were place 2nd in the Male choir section of the North Music Festival. They are winners four times at the National Eisteddfod. In 1979 they won First Prize at the Cork International Musical Festival and in 1989 they represented Wales at the Toronto “ Caravan” International Music Festival.

20 March 2015 St Asaph Cathedral: Cor Meibion Colwyn , MD Tudur Eames and international soloists soprano Elin Pritchard and tenor Rhys Meirion. In September 2016 they are the invited choir to the North America Welsh Association Festival and Cymanfa Ganu. After winning an award at Malta’s 5th International Choir Festival, they toured Catalunya, in 2004. In 2005, they were invited to the Barcelona Festival of Male Voice Choirs, performing at the World Heritage Centres of the Palau de la Musica Catalana (Barcelona) and in the Abbey at Montserrat. There have been many other tours including Germany, Malta and Ireland and, in the UK, in the Lake District, and Cardiff, Bournemouth, Cambridge and Yorkshire. Their many engagements include entertaining the crowds at the Millennium Stadium Cardiff at the Wales v Argentina Rugby International and at Under 20’s Rugby Internationals; they have sung at the Royal Albert Hall on several occasions, including as the sole guest choir in the St David’s Day Festival. They have performed at the International Pavilion, Llangollen, and at St David’s Concert Hall, Cardiff. The choir has raised over £150,000 for charities. Musical Director Tudur Eames graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama at the Barbican in London. As well as his MD duties, Tudur is an accomplished accompanist, harpist and adjudicator. He had an extensive career in music theatre prior to returning to North Wales in 2014. Gwyn Roberts, a member since 1972, including ten years as Musical Director. combines his role as Deputy Musical Director with that of tenor chorister. Principal accompanist is Richard Hibbs, supported by deputy Mary Darling.
