Each of us shares at least two things in common, we all love to hear our young adults sing from their hearts, and we all have invested in Catholic education where a stu- dent’s unique gifts can shine and glorify God. Tonight, while the noisy and chaotic world outside can cause us to wonder, the harmonic sounds we hear inside give us peace and assurance in our collective work encouraging young people to help build and discover the Kingdom of God. So, how can any of us “… keep from singing?”

No storm can shake my inmost calm While to that refuge clinging Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth How can I keep from singing? –Robert Lowry -

Let us all bask in the wonder and glow of our students uncovering their unique God-given gifts, and remind ourselves of St. Julian of Norwich’s wisdom, “All shall be well, and all shall be well.”

I’d like to give a special shout-out to Ms. Alison Seaton who has organized this event for the past 19 of the 20 years! Ali- son is very reluctant to have any accolades, but with her help as the lead, the team of directors has created such a beautiful event. Thank you Alison!

Message from Alison Seaton, Choir Festival Chairperson: Welcome to our wonderful concert tonight! It is hard to believe that this grand little festival has thrived and grown for twenty years, now! When we started we were a brave group of 350 students and their directors who had a dream of joining together to sing in Benaroya Hall – The brand new home of the Seattle Symphony. Over the years we have grown into a well established festival of over 550 singers each year! This happened because of the loving vision and commitment of the high school choir directors in the Archdiocese. Each year, our cohort comes together to plan a night of great music for our students. We have celebrated marriages, and new homes, and seen the birth and growing up of each other’s children, and through it all have developed into a choir family. I am personally grateful for the artistry, friendship and love of our students that I experience with these colleagues each and every year. No one person could ever ‘pull off’ an event like this, Choir Festival -2007 and I am grateful beyond expressing to my fellow choir directors! Happy 20th everyone! We are extremely grateful to: Acknowledgements All of our director’s Emeritus, upon whose shoulders we stand, and with- out whom this festival could not have thrived year after year.
