MAC, CHARGE CUT DOWN NETS CANTON, OH – The Canton Charge (5-1), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, had a game-winning bucket fall at the buzzer to defeat the Long Island Nets (1-4), 118-117, at the Memorial Civic Center on Friday night for their third straight win.

The Nets led for the entire game and by as many as 18 until Canton went on a 16-3 run that culminated with a Sir’Dominic Pointer triple that gave the Charge their first lead of the night at 116-114 and 22.6 seconds left. The Nets responded immediately as Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot hit a three-pointer of his own near the top of the key to pull back ahead 117-116. Sheldon Mac caught the inbounds off the advance and drove to the rack, completing the comeback with a reverse layup as time expired.

Mac scored 15 points in the fourth quarter and totaled 34 for the game on 12-of-20 shooting to lead the Charge. Pointer finished with 23 points, four steals and three blocks in 34 minutes. Malik Newman added 17 points and five assists in 35 minutes. Cavaliers Two-Way player Tyler Cook came off the bench to provide 16 points and four rebounds in 29 minutes. J.P. Macura scored 15 points with four assists and two steals in 35 minutes.

The Nets were led by Luwawu-Cabarrot’s all-around effort of 35 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists in 41 minutes. John Egbunu was a perfect 11-of- 11 from the field for 22 points in 25 minutes. Jaylen Hands and Jahmal McMurray each added 14 points for Long Island. The Nets were 47-of-80 shooting (59%) as a team in the losing effort, but lost the turnover battle to Canton, 21-12.

THE CAVALIERS ON LA MEGA 87.7 FM: Veteran broadcaster Rafael Hernández-Brito, known as Rafa "El Alcalde" (“The Mayor”), returns for his sixth season of bringing his high-energy play-by-play style to each of his Cleveland Cavaliers broadcasts. Prior to joining the Cavs, Rafa was the Spanish voice of Brooklyn Nets games for the franchise’s first two seasons. He also was the voice of the New Jersey Nets from 1997 to 2001 and called the action for St. John’s University men’s basketball during that same period. In 2018, Rafa became the first Spa nish voice of the Cleveland Browns.

Nationally, his broadcasting experience includes eight years as the voice of NFL football for Spanish broadcasts of Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, the playoffs and Superbowl on Univision from 2005 to 2013. Hernández-Brito, who has worked 11 Super Bowls, was also the Spanish play-by-play voice of the Miami Dolphins and has handled the play-by-play for Major League Baseball, boxing and UFC. Rafa additionally covered the Soccer World Cups from 1998 to 2014. With the 2015 NBA Finals, he became the first broadcaster in the United States to call the Finals of all 3 major sports in Spanish. Rafa has been the Public Address Announcer and voice of legendary Azteca Stadium in Mexico City for NFL Mexico games since 2016. In March of 2017, he became the first broadcaster to call the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four in Spanish for Westwood One.

Rafa finished high school at Locust Valley, N.Y. He went on to earn a degree in mechanical engineering at University, followed by a successful run working for Coors Brewing Co., where his buoyant personality made him a natural in sales and marketing. Nonetheless, he chose to follow his passion for sports and broadcasting. Hernández-Brito served as sports director at Univision Radio from 2005 to 2013, where he was also the host/ringleader of “Locura Deportiva”, Univision Radio’s most successful sports program, presiding over candid, colorful, often comical discussions on the topics of the day as “El Alcalde” (“The Mayor”). He was also the creator and longtime host of “El Garaje de AutoZone,” a Saturday morning automotive show perhaps best described as a Spanish-language version of the immensely popular NPR program “Car Talk."

Rafa’s path to the booth is an American dream. Today, he has a daily syndicated radio sports show airing in the US and Latin America, is the cohost of the Emmy-award winning show “Cavs HQ” on Fox Sports Ohio and also served as the executive producer of the popular podcast “Road Trippin’ with RJ and Channing.”

ANNUAL CAVS AND MONSTERS TOY DRIVE TIPS-OFF THIS SATURDAY Presented by Lexus With the holiday season right around the corner, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Monsters are helping to make it a brighter one for children in need across Northeast Ohio. Beginning this Saturday (November 23), the two teams will be hosting their annual Toy Drive, presented by Lexus, as part of the Cavaliers Season of Giving. The two teams will match toys donated by fans in order to impact more children in our community.
