Bartet comments on a book a gentleman sent her: “...la lecture que je viens de faire ne me laisse qu’un regret, c’est que nous ne possédions pas, pour le Grand Siècle, quelque Traité pareil au vôtre. David addresses a Count: “…Je désirais donner un concert dans la salle des Menus-plaisirs le 5 où le 12 Décembre prochain pour faire exécuter mon oratorio de Moïse au Sinai. Monseigneur le Duc de Montpensier m’a témoigné plusieurs fois le désir d’entendre cet ouvrage au Conservatoire. Casoni: [Filippo] Filippi a certainement fait erreur en vous disant que j’avais une place – pour vous – vous n’imaginez pas ce qu’est le service des auteurs le jour de la première ! C’est de la misère comparé à ce qu’il lui faudrais – La moitié de ma famille ne pourra pas y assister ! (…) De plus, “Non v’è prova generale ! ” – …”. Gounod addresses Madame Marie Laurent: “…Veuillez, je vous prie, prendre lecture de la note ci-jointe et en donner communication au comité de votre Orphelinat: je serais bien heureux qu’elle pût être prise en sérieuse considération si aucun de vos statuts ne s’y oppose…”. 1 p. Herbert Graf (Vienna, 1903 - Geneva, 1973) Geneva’s Grand Théâtre Autograph letter signed in Italian, dated Ginevra, 28 gennaio 1965 by the Austrian producer, director of Geneva’s Grand Théâtre from 1965 to 1973; he was also known as Little Hans as the first child to be analysed by Sigmund Freud, a study published in 1909 in Analysis of a Phobia in a Five-year-old Boy. Graf addresses the artistic director Francesco Siciliani (1911-1996), concerning the baritone Abe Polakoff: “…il baritono Americano Abe Poliakoff mi ha informato che probabilmente farà una audizione per Lei nei primi giorni di febbraio. Vorrei dirle che io considero Polakoff un elemento di grande qualità per parti come il TONIO nei Pagliacci. Io l’ho portato a Zurigo, ma dopo la mia demissione la sua situazione era divenuta difficile siccome lui non vuole cantare il repertorio italiano in tedesco come lo chiedono lì adesso. Jazz - Festival International du Jazz - Nice 1948 Earl Hines Autograph signatures on the cover of the Jazz Festival of Nice held from 22 to 28 February 1948. Among the signatures we find Baby Dodds (1898-1959), drummer for Milton 'Mezz' Mezzrow, Earl Hines (1903-1983), pianist of the Louis Armstrong band, Sydney "Big Sid" Catlett (1910-1951), Rex Stewart (1907-1967) and others. € 300 15. Friedrich Kalkbrenner (Cassel, 1785 - Enghien-les-Bains, 1849) Sébastien Norblin Autograph letter signed, dated Mercredi soir, by the German pianist and piano manufacturer. Kalkbrenner answers the French painter Sébastien Norblin (1796-1884): “…J’accepte avec reconnaissance votre aimable proposition et vous attendrai le 10 janvier…”. 1 p. In fine condition. € 350 16. Jean-Georges Kastner (Strasbourg, 1810 - Paris, 1867) Les Voix de Paris Autograph musical quotation signed, dated Paris ce 4 Avril 1838 by the French composer. Kastner pens twelve bars from his work Les Voix de Paris (1857) with lyrics. 1 p. Small tear on the upper right corner. € 150 17. Wilhelm Knaack (Rostock, 1829 - Vienna, 1894) Comic theater Four autograph letter signed in German, dated between 1881 and 1887 by the German-Austrian actor. For a total of 9 pp. In fine condition. One envelope included. € 200 18. Raoul von Koczalski (Warsaw, 1884 - Poznan, 1948) Rymond Five autograph letters signed in German (four on illustrated postcard) by the renowned Polish pianist. All the letters relate to personal matters. We report an extract as an example: "...Ich erlange mir Ihnen ein exemplar des Klavierauszug meiner Oper ‘Rymond’ zu ubersenden…”. Translated: "I am pleased to send you a copy of the piano reduction of my opera 'Rymond' and will be very happy…". € 300 19. Raoul von Koczalski (Warsaw,1884 - Poznan, 1948) Chopin Autograph letter signed in French, dated Neuchâtel, le 26 Octobre 1926 by the Polish pianist and composer. Koczalski addresses the operatic baritone Luigi Piazza (1884-1967): “J’ai reçu votre lettre à Stresa et je vous prie de m’écrire le plus vite possible quel jour vous serait agréable pour le concert à Bologna…”. 1 p. with letterhead. Kufferath addresses a lady singer: “…Notre ami [Henry V.] Higgins, directeur du Covent-Garden de Londres, nous a télégraphié pour nous demander votre Concours pour des rôles importants mais courts: Ulrica du Ballo in Maschera de Verdi.
