1972 SEL was one of the last handbuilt automobiles for Mercedes-Benz. Built on the same assembly line as the infamous 600 limos. This car is all original and had 24,000 miles when purchased in 1974 from the original owner, a prominent doctor in Boston. It was driven daily until 1985, when it was set aside in storage and now has 49,000 miles. In 2013, the car was completely refreshed mechanically and detailed for showing. The 300 SEL was delivered with every available option offered by Mercedes.

  • I have shown cars here at the Colorado Concours every

year since 1993. This year I'm bringing a car I've had for only 11 months: Michele, as in Michele Mouton, the Audi racing driver. Michele isn't ready for judging, but I'd feel wrong not breaking her in this year in the non-judged area. She has 114,000 miles and was pretty tired when I purchased her. I'm slowly bringing her condition up to show quality and some tasteful modifications are being added. Keep your eye on the space for next year!

It is unique in having an all fiberglass monocoque body, resulting in rigidity with lightness weighing about 1400 lb. The Elite was very successful on the track in the early 60s, winning six successive class wins at LeMans.

Tata motors would again revamp the whole Jaguar image starting in the 2008 model year.

This Roadster was delivered 9/19/1960 to Porsche Cars Pacific, San Francisco, CA. This T5 356 B was only built for two years, 1960 and 1961, with a total build number of 2653. This car was completely restored in the mid 80s. The car is not just for looks, it has been on six Colorado Grand Tours. This car is a 1964 Porsche 356SC Cabriolet, one of 343 SC Cabriolets built that year, one of the rarest open 356 models ever made. The SC features the most powerful of the 356 pushrod motors built, and was the basis for the 912 motor. This car is Irish Green, believed to be one of 50 SC Cabs in that color built in 1964. The car is an original Colorado car, now with its third owner. It has a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, with numbers matching engine and transmission and original exterior. Recently restored by owner who has owned the car since 1966. It has both a soft top and a hardtop.

The Detomaso Mangusta an Italian Exotic That Happened by Accident

The DeTomaso Mangusta An Italian exotic that happened by accident.. By Rick Feibusch In the good old days, years before the implementation of emissions and safety laws, exotic high-performance automakers woul d just build a car, display it at a few key international auto shows and start taking orders. There wasn't even a legal requirement that the manufacturer road test a prototype before the first production models were delivered to the public! Italian automakers were particularly prone to using the public to test their cars - after delivery. The DeTomaso Mangusta was a particularly interesting example. The Mangusta was born out of the ambition of Argentinian race driver Alejandro De Tomaso who, like many othe r racers, yearned to build his own cars. DeTomaso was born to a wealthy family in a small town near Buenos Aires. He left Argentina in 1955, just one step ahead of Juan Peron's goon squads, having offended the great dictator with political writings publi shed in a local newspaper. Peron, like his idol Adolph Hitler, loved sports cars and heavily supported successful drivers like Juan Manuel Fangio because he believed that if drivers from his country won races, it showed a national superiority. Since DeTomaso wouldn't play ball, he was excluded from the gravy train. DeTomaso left for Italy, the land of his grandparents with only $126 in his racing jumpsuit He met Isabelle Haskell, a rich American woman who owned and raced a Siata and a Maserati. In those d ays, women racers were a rare and unproven commodity, and Ms.

Dear SCCA Media Partners, Welcome to what is truly a new era of the Sports Car Club of America, as the SCCA National Champi- onship Runoffs heads west for the first time in 46 years to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. This event, made possible with the help of our friends and partners at Mazda and the Sports Car Rac- ing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), was met with questions at its announcement that have been answered in a big way, with more than 530 drivers on the entry list and a rejunvenaton of the west coast program all season long. While we haven’t been west of the Rockies since River- side International Raceway in 1968, it’s hard to believe it will be that long before we return again. The question on everyone’s mind, even more than usual, is who is going to win? Are there hidden gems on the west coast who may be making their first Runoffs appearance that will make a name for themselves on the national stage, or will the traditional contenders learn a new track quickly enough to hold their titles? My guess is that we’ll see some of each.

Bruce Qvale, president of Qvale Automotive group said: "MG Rover showed an interest in our Mangusta project in Modena, and we have since agreed a very good deal for both sides. The power of the MG brand now takes the project forward on a global basis." Qvale Mangusta The Qvale Mangusta is the most recent chapter in a long career for the Qvale family. The business, which was founded by Kjell Qvale in 1947, has grown over the years to encompass both car sales (including, incidentally, the US's first west-coast MG dealership) and manufacture. The Mangusta styled by Marcello Gandini (designer of the Lamborghini Countach and Diablo), began as a joint project between the Qvale family and DeTomaso Modena S.p.A in March 1998 to build a new sports car using the Ford Mustang's 4.6-litre V8 engine, echoing the DeTomaso Mangusta of the 1960's. Both the Qvale family and Alessandro DeTomaso, father of the DeTomaso marque, had second thoughts about this arrangement, though, and so a divorce MG X80 now an incredible 965bhp MG SV was arranged in March 2000. The project continued under the Qvale name and the MG Rover is to build a new luxury high-performance sports car for next year car was manufactured in Modena. Surprises at 2009 California Mille

The Nob Hill Association’s Volume 32 N0. 2 2009 NOB NOHILL TABLES Surprises at 2009 California Mille The 19th annual California Mille held Sunday, April 26, had a few surprises for the hundreds of car fans, Nob Hill Association members and neighbors who attended. The basic Mille stayed the same, of course. Vintage sports cars buffs from all over California showed off their cars all across Nob Hill: in Huntington Park, in front of the Fairmont Hotel and on side streets all around the hill. The annual Mille Sunday reception, a benefit for the Nob Hill Association, unites an international group of rare sports racing and production cars dating from 1927 through 1957 for a 1000 miles journey through Northern California patterned after the world-famous Italian “Mille Miglia,” which ran from 1927 through 1957 from Brescia in the North of Italy to Rome and back. Everyone is invited to view the cars, taking photos and asking questions, even sitting in the cars when the owners approve. But in addition to this free event, hundreds of friends of Nob Hill and of Huntington Park contribute generously to benefit the Nob Hill Association’s efforts to beautify all of Nob Hill and preserve its history. The event netted $10,000 for the maintenance and improvement of the park. This year, unlike years past, the sumptuous Italian buffet and reception was moved into the Fairmont Hotel into the beautiful Gold Room. Hosted by the Fairmont and its regional manager, Tom Klein, guests sipped on bloody Marys, fine California wines and dined on an exquisite Italian buffet prepared by the fine chefs at the Fairmont.

Again, I would like to salute you readers for all that you send back to the network. Although the network was created to publicize the British Car Meets that we were coordinating in the SF Bay Area and Los Angeles, it has taken on a life of its own. Maybe it is because all British car themed publications in the US seem to have fallen away or been absorbed by other automotive publications. Even the British home market publications have become more "international" and cover cars made in Europe or, gasp, the US! Not that I have anything against Fiats, Alfas, or big block Mustangs for that matter, but my brain has only so much memory left...............
