Heart Rhythm Meditation In this 6-week introductory course to Heart Rhythm Meditation, we’ll learn to recognize and regulate our internal rhythms and feelings, and hone our abilities to redesign our attitudes and actions. We’ll apply this practice to our health, relationships, and goals, allowing us to take on larger challenges with less stress. Financial Aid Essentials The Financial Aid Workshop will provide an overview of financial aid basics and the completion of the Free Application of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Discussion will include a review of the federal, state, school-based, and private funding sources. This class is intended for families of prospective or enrolled college students. All who wish to complete their FAFSA should bring the last two years' tax returns/financial details to the workshop. Discussion of the entire college application process can be had as well. Creating A Resume That Gets You Hired There's a lot of confusion when it comes to creating a resume that gets you hired. This 3-week course will show you the basics of creating a resume that can be easily updated and adapted to fit any job or career requirements. Participants will get one on one support from the instructor, education regarding what types of resumes make it to the hiring manager's desk, and will workshop their resumes with their classmates. Participants will finish the course with a firm understanding of how to create a resume from scratch, or update an outdated one. History of the Holocaust This 4 week course will begin with a history of the Holocaust including a brief history of the Jewish Religion, its persecution and the progression of the Nazi Ideology throughout Europe. We will then make the connection with the exploration of different ethical, legal, and moral issues related to the Holocaust. We will also explore modern day genocides in places like Rwanda, Darfur, and Bosnia. Other examples of genocide will also be discussed, for example, the Armenian Genocide in the early 1900s - which the United States just designated as a genocide. To tackle these difficult topics, we will be using first hand accounts from victims and survivors through the use of letters, diary excerpts, and testimony from survivors. There is no text book for this class - but you will receive information from me, the internet, and materials that I handout! Basic Fly Casting The goal of this course is to provide students with the casting skills necessary to fish effectively on your own. This is a “hands-on” course, so your time will be spent with a fly rod in hand, working on your own casting. Most instruction will be done in small groups, but casting suggestions will also be offered on an individual basis. Videotape analysis of your casting stroke will be provided. Students are encouraged to use their own fly rod and reel, but equipment will be available for anyone who needs it. Please do not buy new equipment just to take this course. PetTech Pet First Aid and CPR Course This class includes CPR techniques, first aid skills, health care and wellness information for dogs and cats. Demonstrations will be done in class as well as hands on skill practicing. Every student will be required to demonstrate the skills learned. We will also have time for questions and storytelling. We believe discussing the "what if" situations allow for a better understanding of how to use these skills in real life scenarios. Cooking Healthy, Vegetarian Indian Food (Two Sessions) In this 2 week course, the first class we will learn how to prepare , which starts with preparing cottage cheese at home and using it with Spinach. This is a healthy, vegetarian dish and often a party favorite. We will prepare the companion sides for this dish. In the second class, we will learn how to prepare Gajar Halwa i.e., sweet carrot pudding as dessert and an Indian called Bhakri, which is made from an ancient grain called Jowar. Bhakri is a gluten-free flat bread that is healthy, fibrous and delicious. This is a hands-on cooking class. So come prepared to help out in the preparation and ask questions! Culinary Knife Skills 101 In this one night class, through a combination of demonstration and practice, you will learn to slice, dice and Brunoise like a pro. Introduction to Digital Photography -Designed for the Beginning Digital Photographer Get the most out of your digital camera and learn from an experienced professional photographer how to take great photographs during this 6-week class. DIY Maine Pack Basket (Backpack style) In this all day/8 hour class you will come in with no basket weaving knowledge and leave with an incredible pack-basket that you made yourself! The class size is limited so that the instructor may help everyone individually and ensure they leave with a beautiful and functional basket. Not only will you have a new creation, but you will also have the skills to make it again. Resin Jewelry We’ve all seen cool resin jewelry in shops and boutiques. In this class you will learn to make pendants, earrings, charms and more. Epoxy jewelry resins are durable, usually clear or translucent, resins that come in two parts. When the two parts are mixed together, the epoxy from a liquid to a solid.
