It also brought home the realization that some form of organization was necessary to promote the common interests of all Indians. And it was this realisation that led to the foundation of the Indian National Congress (INC) on 28 December 1885, with seventy-two persons meeting in the Hall of Gokuldas Tejpal Sanskrit College in Bombay. This led to the beginning of an organized political movement on an all- India level, which culminated in her winning freedom in August 1947. 7 Key Words Indian National Congress, Gokuldas Tejpal Sanskrit College, 1885, organization 8 Team of content Seema S.Ojha persons 9 Subject Coordinator Seema S.Ojha 10 CIET Coordinator First session of Indian National Congress, Bombay, 28–31, December, 1885. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/bb/1st_INC1885.jpg/1 024px-1st_INC1885.jpg Allan Octavian Hume, a retired Indian Civil Servant, who became instrumental in the foundation of the Indian National Congress https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/54/A_O_Hume.jpg/17 0px-A_O_Hume.jpg List of Presidents of Indian National Congress and its sessions President Year Session Womesh Chunder 1885 Bombay Bonnerjee Dadabhai Naoroji 1886 Calcutta Madras Alfred Webb 1887 Surendranath Banerjea 1888 Allahabad Rahmatullah Sayani 1889 Bombay C.
