SPSS Statistics version 24 Installation Guide
SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) is one of the most popular statistical packages which can perform highly complex data manipulation and analysis. Students can use SPSS at home and is available for installation on personal laptops and desktops.
To use SPPS:
1. Raise a service request ticket on www.city.ac.uk/itservicedesk, click on 'Log a Service Request'. Click on Software. Select 'Student Software Request' and then 'SPSS'.
2. Complete all required fields on the service request form:
Download and print out the academic agreement form, sign and date it, scan it and then attach the scanned file using the attachment clip to the service request form.
Click on the button to raise the ticket when you have finished.
3. You will receive an email to confirm further instructions.
4. The software key will be sent to your mailbox. Login into your City email to check and obtain the software key.
5. You are required to download the software after receiving the key. The links are provided in the first email. Alternatively, please go to the link below: www.city.ac.uk/current-students/it-support/resources-and-facilities/matlab-nvivo-oxmetrics- spss If prompted to login, please use your City university username and password to login.
Select the most appropriate installer link suitable for your computer operating system from the lists.
You will be prompted with a download window in you web browser.
Click on SAVE
When the files are finally downloaded, right-click the zipped folder and chose Extract All.
Open the extracted folder and double-click setup.exe.
The screen below will be displayed. Click Next to proceed.
Click Next to proceed.
Accept Software License Agreement screen and click Next to proceed.
Set the Assistive Technology to No
Click Next to proceed.
Leave this page as the default or make sure the Yes option is selected and click Next to proceed.
Accept the license agreement and click Next to proceed.
Leave the Installation location as the default and click Next to proceed.
Click Install to start the installation on your computer.
Your system will now install the application.
Click Finish to start SPSS and license the product.
Click on License Product.
Click Next to the authorization screen and leaving it on Authorized user license as shown below.
Enter the license code you have been provided by the IT Service Desk in the text box and click Next to proceed.
The screen below should be displayed on your screen.
Click Next to proceed.
Click Finish to the Licensing Completed screen to exit. If requested save all your work and restart the PC.
After the reboot; load the application by clicking on your Start button -> All Programs -> IBM SPSS Statistics -> IBM SPSS Statistics 24.
Windows Security Alert: If the message below appears on your screen, make sure to tick the second option (Private networks, such as my home or work network) and then click Allow access.
The software will be loaded for use.
If prompted, please select the Use the Unicode encoding.
