It included 47 locali- ties throughout the country. The surveyed invertebrate groups included slugs and snails (Gastropoda), dragonflies (Odonata), grasshoppers (Orthoptera), true bugs (Heteroptera), ants (Formicidae), butterflies (Lepidoptera) and some coleopterans (Staphylinidae: Pselaphinae). Data on the visited localities, identi- fied species and their conservation status are presented. In total, 316 species of 209 genera and 68 families were recorded. Fifty species were identified as potential indicator species for this wetland habitat type. The highest species richness (with more than 50 species) was observed in wetlands near Marino pole (Plovdiv District) and Karaisen (Veliko Tarnovo District). Key words: Gastropoda, Odonata, Orthoptera, Heteroptera, Formicidae, Lepidoptera, Pselaphinae, wetland. Introduction According to the EUNIS Biodiversity Database, all known mire and spring complex according to the wetlands (mires, bogs and fens) are territories with occurrence of rare and threaten plant and mollusc water table at or above ground level for at least half species.

Novaj; Hungary) A. Dávid Abstract: Among the Egerian Age exposures of North-east Hungary the Molluscan Clay of Wind Brickyard (Eger) and Nyárjas Hill (Novaj) contain fossils in exceptional richness. Distribution of molluscs of the Molluscan Clay of these two outcrops according to habitats and feeding habits is examined and compared. There are definite differences between the two localities. Introduction Among the several Upper-Oligocene outrops of North-Hungary the Molluscan Clay layers «f _Wind Brickyard, Eger and Nyárjas Hill, Novaj is compared (Fig.l.). These layers contain well-preserved „micro-mollusc" fossils abudantly. The bivalves, gastropods and schaphopods which were living here during the Egerian stage have belonged into the Hinia — Cadulus fossil community. It refers to similar paleoenvironments in case of both localities. The sea was deeper than 120 metres and the bottom was covered by fine-gra ined, clayey sediments. The aim of the investigation was to examine the distribution of the molluscs according to habitats and feeding habits in the collected materials. Methods Fifteen kilograms of clay was taken from both localities. After drying the samples were treated with hot water and peroxide of hydrogen. This material was washed out through a 0,5 nun sieve. At the end the molluscan remains were assorted from among the other fossils (e.gJ^oraminifera, Decapoda, Echinoidea, Osteichthyes).

  • Liste De Référence Annotée Des Mollusques D'alsace (France) Annotated Checklist of the Continental Molluscs from Alsace (France)

Gredleriana Vol. 1 / 2001 pp. 183 – 226 Notizen zur Fauna der Land-Gehäuseschnecken Südtirols Georg Kierdorf-Traut* Abstract Notes on the land shell fauna in South Tyrol The introduction provides the historical background of the investigation activities carried out on molluscs in Tyrol: these began in the first half of the 19th century and soon reached their peak with the excellent work by V.M GREDLER, »Tirol’s Land- und Süßwasser-Chonchylien« (1856). In the middle of the 20th century the most prominent researcher on the malacofauna in South Tyrol was F. SCHROTT (1884-1971) from the Passeier Valley. By continuing in the footsteps of this tradition, the author has been observing and collecting land shells over the past 25 years in various areas of South Tyrol (especially in the Eisack Valley) and has published several articles on this argument. This work deals for the first time with all findings of fauna species recorded between 1975 and 2000. 155 species and varieties of land shells are described and for 74% of these the description is based on the evidence collected personally by the author. Particular attention is given to the diffusion of the Clausiliidae Charpentieria itala (MART.) and Ch. stenzii (ROSSM.) and their variability as well as to the genera Macrogastra, Clausilia and Chilostoma (Helicidae). The appendix deals with the great variety of shell forms and colours of the Cepaea nemoralis (L.) found in the Eisack Valley and the possible reasons for these differences.

  • Narrow Environmental Niches Predict Land-Use Responses And
Wehner et al. BMC Ecol Evo (2021) 21:15 BMC Ecology and Evolution https://doi.org/10.1186/s12862-020-01741-1 RESEARCH ARTICLE Open Access Narrow environmental niches predict land-use responses and vulnerability of land snail assemblages Katja Wehner1* , Carsten Renker2, Nadja K. Simons1, Wolfgang W. Weisser3 and Nico Blüthgen1 Abstract Background: How land use shapes biodiversity and functional trait composition of animal communities is an impor- tant question and frequently addressed. Land-use intensifcation is associated with changes in abiotic and biotic con- ditions including environmental homogenization and may act as an environmental flter to shape the composition of species communities. Here, we investigated the responses of land snail assemblages to land-use intensity and abiotic soil conditions (pH, soil moisture), and analyzed their trait composition (shell size, number of ofspring, light prefer- ence, humidity preference, inundation tolerance, and drought resistance). We characterized the species’ responses to land use to identify ‘winners’ (species that were more common on sites with high land-use intensity than expected) or ‘losers’ of land-use intensity (more common on plots with low land-use intensity) and their niche breadth. As a proxy for the environmental ‘niche breadth’ of each snail species, based on the conditions of the sites in which it occurred, we defned a 5-dimensional niche hypervolume. We then tested whether land-use responses and niches contribute to the species’ potential vulnerability suggested by the Red List status. Results: Our results confrmed that the trait composition of snail communities was signifcantly altered by land-use intensity and abiotic conditions in both forests and grasslands.
