Barrientos, whose song “Celador de Sueños” was given a Grammy award.

Gustavo believes that cultural identity will be the business of the future. The culture he most passionately wishes to promote is his beloved Argentina. With wine as another of his passions, Gustavo started Cielo y Tierra in 2005 when he purchased a vineyard in Lunlunta (Lujá de Cuyo, Mendoza). The Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon vines are from 14-40 years of age on this 10 hectare vineyard.

Lunlunta is a magical place. Lunlunta was the site chosen by the Huarpes (the natives of the region) as a retreat for meditation. It is no wonder Gustavo chose this place for his Heaven (Cielo) & Earth (Tierra).

Right away his friend Raúl Orozco joined Gustavo and, with winemaker Juan Carlos Chavero at the reins, they began producing wines from the Cielo y Tierra vineyard with identity and excellence as their goals. After five years of hard work, three Malbecs were introduced: Celador, Don Juan Nahuel and Don Juan Nahuel Reserva. Celador is named after Orozco-Barrientos’ Grammy winning song. Don Juan Nahuel is named after Gustavo’s son.

Celador is a younger wine, fruity and fresh with only 12 months of oak aging. Don Juan Nahuel is a stronger, full- bodied wine, mainly because of the higher concentration obtained from lower yields in the vineyard. Don Juan Nahuel Reserva is a more elegant wine. Grapes from Lunlunta are blended with grapes from an associate vineyard, Agrelo, in order to add more complexity to the Reserva.

Gustavo, Raúl and Juan Carlos were delighted when all three WINES of their wines received gold medals in the Selections Mondiales des Vins 2010 contest in Quebec, Canada. This Celador Malbec was a confirmation that their vision of identity and Don Juan Nahuel Malbec excellence had been realized. Don Juan Nahuel Malbec Reserva
