FULL SCORE Spirit of Africa For Soprano Soloist, SATB Choir and Chamber Orchestra Photo: David Fanshawe, East Africa Music: Liz Lane Words: Jennifer Henderson Spirit of Africa Programme note Spirit of Africa is written as a companion piece to David Fanshawe’s African Sanctus and is inspired by the colours and symbolic meanings of the flags of Egypt, Sudan, Uganda and Kenya, the countries visited by David during his travels recording music for African Sanctus in 1969-1973. The words and music of the five movements trace a journey through the day, with the colour white for daybreak mist, green for morning freshness, red for midday heat, gold for sunset and black for night; each with its own mood and character, hopes and fears. Er hat zahlreiche internationale Auszeichnungen erhalten. Begonnen hat seine Karriere mit der Filmmontage, später dann wandte er sich am Royal College of Music mit John Lambert dem Studium der Komposition zu. 1970 fand er internationale Anerkennung mit Salaams, einem Werk, das auf Rhythmen der Perlenfischer von Bahrain aufbaut. Abstract: Panels were tested at different locations around the turbine blade, on both suction and pressure surfaces. Three different surface porosities were also tested. Results demonstrated that the approach can be very successful with high levels of film cooling effectiveness, exceeding 95%, achieved using low coolant mass flow rates. Increasing the surface porosity also proved to be an important parameter in the panel’s performance. Additionally, staggering the film holes lead to signif- icant positive interactions between individual films, resulting in much improved panel performance. To reach those necessary goals, we strategically use an array of interconnected channels and platforms to transform not only the media landscape but also a cul- ture in which women’s and girls’ voices, stories, experiences, and images are nei- ther suffciently amplifed nor placed on par with the voices, stories, experiences, and images of men and boys.
