However, about 4 years ago, the MONDO label put out the entire soundtrack on a double vinyl package, and at 45 RPM. Easily the best sounding version of this soundtrack on vinyl, and for the first time, ALL the music clues are included.https://www.discogs.com/John-Carpenter-Halloween/release/5120558 Ximinon It's a mystery as to why there was a near four year gap between the release of this 79' Japanese 1st release, and the following 83' vinyl USA release. No doubt the film's score has developed cult status some years later & has became regarded as one of the most memorable horror scores, with its stark minimalist approach (in line with the film's 'less is more' sensibilities), & perhaps took audiences by surprise at the time. Also JC's films didn't always command the box office figures of their big budget contemporaries. Either way, this first version features more dialogue from the movie than later versions, which works great against the score, capturing the feel nicely in the absence of visuals. Japan are regarded highly for the quality of vinyl pressings around this time, & this '360 Spacesizer' recording is no exception. A grail for fans of the dark master... Morlunn Interesting.
