Amen.

The congregation sits.

The Liturgy of the Word The First Reading Acts 10:44-end A reading from the Acts of the Apostles.

While Peter was still speaking, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who heard the word. The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astounded that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles, for they heard them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter said, ‘Can anyone withhold the water for baptizing these people who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?’ So he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they invited him to stay for several days.

This is the word of the Lord Thanks be to God.

Gradual Psalm 98

The congregation remains seated. The Choir sings

O sing unto the Lord a new song: for he hath done marvellous things. 2 With his own right hand, and with his holy arm: hath he gotten himself the victory. 3 The Lord declared his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen. 4 He hath remembered his mercy and truth toward the house of Israel: and all the ends of the world have seen the salvation of our God. 5 Shew yourselves joyful unto the Lord, all ye lands: sing, rejoice, and give thanks. 6 Praise the Lord upon the harp: sing to the harp with a psalm of thanksgiving. 7 With trumpets also, and shawms: O shew yourselves joyful before the Lord the King. 8 Let the sea make a noise, and all that therein is: the round world, and they that dwell therein. 9 Let the floods clap their hands, and let the hills be joyful together before the Lord: for he is come to judge the earth. 10 With righteousness shall he judge the world: and the people with equity.

Gospel Acclamation The congregation stands.

Alleluia, alleluia. Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.’ John 6.35 Alleluia.

Gospel Reading John 15:9-17 The Lord be with you. And also with you.

Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John. Glory to you, O Lord.

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete. ‘This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father. You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name. I am giving you these commands so that you may love one another.

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you O Christ.

The congregation sits Address Helen Collinson Campaigns Strategy Lead, Christian Aid.

The Nicene Creed The congregation stands and says

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,

who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Intercessions The congregation sits The president introduces the intercessions. Each petition ends

Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer.

At the end

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Liturgy of the Sacrament The Peace

The congregation stands. The president says

The risen Christ came and stood among his disciples and said, ‘Peace be with you.’ Then were they glad when they saw the Lord. Alleluia. John 20.19, 20 The peace of the Lord be always with you. and also with you.

Preparation of the Table

Offertory The congregation sits.

During the preparation of the altar, the Choir sings

Come, ye faithful, raise the strain of triumphant gladness! God hath brought his Israel into joy from sadness; loosed from Pharaoh’s bitter yoke Jacob’s sons and daughters; led them with unmoistened foot through the Red Sea waters.

‘Tis the spring of souls to-day; Christ hath burst his prison, and from three days’ sleep in death as a sun hath risen: all the winter of our sins, long and dark, is flying from his light, to whom we give laud and praise undying.

Now the queen of seasons, bright with the day of splendour, with the royal feast of feasts, comes its joy to render; comes to glad , who with true affection welcomes in unwearied strains Jesu’s resurrection.

Alleluia now we cry to our King immortal, who triumphant burst the bars of the tomb’s dark portal; Alleluia, with the Son God the Father praising; Alleluia yet again to the Spirit raising. Words: St John of Damascus d.c.754 Tr J.M. Neale (1818-1866) Tune: Ave Virgo Virginum (Gesangbuch c.1544)

Prayer over the gifts

The congregation stands. The president says

Creator of all, you wash away our sins, you give us new birth by the Spirit, and redeem us in the blood of Christ. As we celebrate the resurrection, renew your gift of life within us. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the risen Lord. Amen.

Eucharistic Prayer The Lord be with you and also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give thanks and praise.

It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, always and everywhere to give you thanks, almighty and eternal Father, and in these days of Easter to celebrate with joyful hearts the memory of your wonderful works. For by the mystery of his passion Jesus Christ, your risen Son, has conquered the powers of death and hell and restored in men and women the image of your glory. He has placed them once more in paradise and opened to them the gate of life eternal. And so, in the joy of this Passover, earth and heaven resound with gladness, while angels and archangels and the powers of all creation sing for ever the hymn of your glory.

The Choir sings:

Sanctus, sanctus, sanctus, Holy, holy, holy, Lord, Dominus Deus Sabaoth. God of power and might, Pleni sunt coeli, et terra heaven and earth are full of gloria tua. your glory, Hosanna in excelsis. Hosanna in the highest. Benedictus qui venit Blessed is he who comes in nomine Domini. in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in excelsis. Hosanna in the highest.

The president continues:

Lord, you are holy indeed, the source of all holiness; grant that by the power of your Holy Spirit, and according to your holy will, these gifts of bread and wine may be to us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ; who, in the same night that he was betrayed, took bread and gave you thanks; he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.

In the same way, after supper he took the cup and gave you thanks; he gave it to them, saying: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

Great is the mystery of faith: Christ has died: Christ is risen: Christ will come again.

And so, Father, calling to mind his death on the cross, his perfect sacrifice made once for the sins of the whole world; rejoicing in his mighty resurrection and glorious ascension, and looking for his coming in glory, we celebrate this memorial of our redemption.

As we offer you this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving, we bring before you this bread and this cup and we thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you. Send the Holy Spirit on your people and gather into one in your kingdom all who share this one bread and one cup, so that we, in the company the Blessed Virgin Mary, St Peter and all the , may praise and glorify you for ever, through Jesus Christ our Lord; by whom, and with whom, and in whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory be yours, almighty Father, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Let us pray with confidence in the words our Saviour has taught us.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. Breaking of the Bread

The president breaks the consecrated bread

Jesus says, I am the bread of life, whoever eats this bread will live for ever. Lord, our hearts hunger for you; give us this bread always. Giving of Communion

Alleluia! Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast. Alleluia!
