War & Peace ( TV series) - Wikipedia Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace is in the news in India after a judge asked an activist to explain why he had a book "about war in another country". Vernon Gonsalves had appeared in the high court in Mumbai city on Wednesday for a hearing on his bail plea. The judge's question sparked a flurry of tweets, with users both outraged and bemused by it. Five activists, including Mr Gonsalves, were arrested in August in connection with caste-based violence. The judge, Sarang Kotwal, later clarified that War and Peace knows War and Peace is a "classic" and that his comment did not refer to Tolstoy's book, according to legal journal, Bar and Bench. Police raided and searched the homes of the arrested activists last year and submitted a list of books, documents and other belongings to the court. The public prosecutor told the court that police had found "incriminating evidence" in Mr Gonsalves' home, including "books and CDs with objectionable titles". You will have to explain this to the court," the judge told Mr Gonsalves. He also pointed out a CD titled Rajya War and Peace Virodhi or "in protest against state oppression" saying, "The title itself suggests it has something against the state. Police said that all five activists incited Dalits formerly untouchables at a large public rally on 31 Decemberleading to violent clashes that left one person dead. They accused them of "radicalising youth" and taking part in "unlawful activities" which led to violence and showed "intolerance to the present political system". The arrests had been criticised by many at the time War and Peace saw them as an attack on free speech, and even a "witch hunt" against those who challenged the governing Bharatiya Janata Party BJP. The judge should leave his War and Peace and Prejudice aside, and try use his Sense and Sensibility, and then he'd realise that the matter of reading War and Peace is not about Crime and Punishment, but about Power and Glory, lest his tenure will be a time for War and Peace and Forgetting. What kind of HC judge would ask such a question?! What have we done to the judiciary?! You will have to explain this to the War and Peace. Others wondered how they would fare in a courtroom given what's on their bookshelf, and some have issued a call out asking people to share books from their own "subversive" collection. Realized War and Peace my chances of getting bail are slim in today's India. Good morning readers. Please hide your books. Your book shelves may War and Peace you. Published 28 August War and Peace Published 10 January War & Peace (TV Mini-Series ) - IMDb War is a state of organized, armed and often prolonged conflict carried on between states, nations, or other parties typified by extreme aggression, social disruption, and usually high mortality. In addition to the existence War and Peace this organized behavior pattern amongst human primates, very similar organized warlike behavior patterns are also found in many other primate species. The War and Peace of techniques used by a group to carry out war is known as warfare. An absence of War is usually called Peace. In the treatise On War and PeacePrussian military general and War and Peace Carl von Clausewitz defined War and Peace as follows: 'War is thus an act of force to compel our enemy to do our will'. Polemology is the study of human conflict and war. The history of Peace is as old as the history of humanity itself, and certainly as old as War. War is often thought to be the natural state of humanity, Peace of any sort being fragile and fleeting. However, Peace in its various forms has been by far humanity's more common experience, as much of history has been relatively peaceful and orderly, while frameworks for security, law and justice have constantly been advancing. Thus, over the centuries the concept of Peace has been broadened from the absence of overt violence and war to something War and Peace more sophisticated, incorporating terms such als peacemaking, conflict resolution, and statebuilding. William Shakespeare on Film, Video and Stage Titles in bold red font with an asterisk (*) represent the crème de la crème – first choice titles in each category. These are the titles you’ll probably want to explore first. Titles in bold black font are the second- tier – outstanding films that are the next level of artistry and craftsmanship. Once you have experienced the top tier, these are where you should go next. They may not represent the highest achievement in each genre, but they are definitely a cut above the rest. Finally, the titles which are in a regular black font constitute the rest of the films within the genre. I would be the first to admit that some of these may actually be worthy of being “ranked” more highly, but it is a ridiculously subjective matter. Zu den Highlights gehören Filme wie SHUTTER, PROM NIGHT, THE RUINS, NIM’S ISLAND, LEATHERHEADS, 21, SHINE A LIGHT, MARRIED LIFE, OSS 117, MADE OF HONOR, WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS, DEAL, REST STOP 2, ROGUE, NEVER BACK DOWN und STREET KINGS.

  • Shakespeare on Film and Television in the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division of the Library of Congress
SHAKESPEARE ON FILM AND TELEVISION IN THE MOTION PICTURE, BROADCASTING AND RECORDED SOUND DIVISION OF THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS Compiled by Zoran Sinobad January 2012 Introduction This is an annotated guide to moving image materials related to the life and works of William Shakespeare in the collections of the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division of the Library of Congress. While the guide encompasses a wide variety of items spanning the history of film, TV and video, it does not attempt to list every reference to Shakespeare or every quote from his plays and sonnets which have over the years appeared in hundreds (if not thousands) of motion pictures and TV shows. For titles with only a marginal connection to the Bard or one of his works, the decision what to include and what to leave out was often difficult, even when based on their inclusion or omission from other reference works on the subject (see below). For example, listing every film about ill-fated lovers separated by feuding families or other outside forces, a narrative which can arguably always be traced back to Romeo and Juliet, would be a massive undertaking on its own and as such is outside of the present guide's scope and purpose. Consequently, if looking for a cinematic spin-off, derivative, plot borrowing or a simple citation, and not finding it in the guide, users are advised to contact the Moving Image Reference staff for additional information. How to Use this Guide Entries are grouped by titles of plays and listed chronologically within the group by release/broadcast date.
