2009 Indonesian Air Force L-100 crash The 2009 Indonesian Air Force L-100-30(P) crash was an aircraft accident in Indonesia on 20 May 2009. The Indonesian Air Force Lockheed L-100-30(P) Hercules was carrying 112 people (98 passengers and 14 crew) and crashed at about 6:30 local time (23:30 UTC), while flying from Jakarta to eastern Java. In order for this to happen, Peruvian defence expenditure registered a growth rate of 39.5%, increasing from 5.4 billion Peruvian Sol -PEN- (approximately 1.6 billion US dollars) in 2011 to 7.5 billion PEN (approximately 2.2 billion US dollars) in 2015. The ongoing modernisation program, as well as the need of Peru to tackle the drug trafficking, illegal logging and illegal mining and the country’s aspiration to participate in international peace keeping operations is expected to determine the defence budget in the years to come. -
