In 1997 the City of Poulsbo created a volunteer citizen board for the purpose of advising city government on Poulsbo’s urban . The Poulsbo Board is comprised of professionals and citizens interested in , landscaping and . The board meets bi-monthly on matters pertaining to the planning, selection, planting and maintenance of trees in the public urban forest; this includes parks, street trees and around public buildings. Secondarily the board provides education on tree matters and promotes good tree care throughout the community. The board seeks participation and input from our citizens through the following programs: Significant Trees of Poulsbo Nominations Today, as Poulsbo grows around us, we’ve noted Celebration Tree Program (Memorial trees) some of these special trees – some distinguished Educational Classes and Events for their size, others for the fact that they are different from the trees that grew in that early forest (alder, big maple, Douglas fir, western red cedar and others). Many of these “Significant Trees” have been identified on the map in this pamphlet and can be easily seen from the street in the historic core area. They can best be viewed on foot and at a leisurely walking pace. At the same time you will be able to see some of old town’s wonderful older homes.
