Tenderers are advised to read the entire Government Tender Bulletin. No officer of any Procurement Activity will be held responsible for loss of a potential opportunity to tender due to possible incorrect categorising of requirements. 2. Requests are categorised separately for tenders with estimated values of less than R75 000 and more than R75 000. 3. The addresses at which tender documents may be obtained and to which tenders should be posted, appear in Annexure 1. 5.1 The address where a document is available from and where it must be submitted to may differ. 5.2 Tenderers should read the Conditions of Tender issued by the different tender boards. Mostly tenders that are submitted after the closing time will not be allowed for consideration. 6. The financial category for construction related supplies and services are the following: A: To R300 000 B: R300 000 to R2 000 000 C: R2 000 000 to R6 000 000 D: Above R6 000 000 6.1 Where security is required particulars thereof are indicated in the tender documents. However, security is mostly not required for services with an estimated value of less than R100 000. 7. Please note that all documents issued by the Department of Public Works will be sold as follows: • R50,00 per set for all services with a pre-estimated value from above R100 000 to R300 000. • R100,00 per set for all services with a pre-estimated value above R300 000 to R2 000 000. • R200,00 per set for all services with a pre-estimated value above R2 000 000. These amounts will not be refunded. Only cash or postal orders will be accepted. 7.1 No documents will be exchanged. 8. Tenders must be on the official tender forms which must be filled in and completed in all respects. 9. Tenders must be submitted in sealed envelopes. 10. Separate envelopes must be used for each tender invitation. 11. The address, tender number and closing date must appear on the front of the envelope. 12. The name and address of the tenderer must appear on the back of the envelope only. 13. Also consult at least the two previous issues in order to obtain full particulars of all current tender invitations.     30 March2017 Dear Parent/Guardian NEWSLETTER 9/17 We have reached the end of a highly successful term. So much has been achieved and we have big dreams and plans for the remainder of the year. Allow me this opportunity to thank every dedicated educator, coach and learner for their hard work and commitment. It is wonderful to see the scale of participation and the level at which we are competing now. Sport and culture have gone from strength to strength. Add to that the excellent academic results we attained last year, and you have to agree that our school is blessed with exceptional learners, educators and parents. During a recent visit by the Curro Transformation and Diversity team, we were complimented on the friendliness of our learners and staff. They noticed how learners went out of their way to greet them and to assist where they could. We also often get compliments from visitors, who work with our learners, regarding their ability to think out of the box and come up with new ideas and solutions. Schools close on Friday, 31 March at 11:00. Reports will be issued to learners on this day. Term 2 starts on Wednesday, 19 April. Educators already start on Tuesday, 18 April. Enjoy a well-deserved break with your children. May God keep you safe and may you experience a blessed Easter. Beide my ouers is oorlede en ek wens soms dat ek nog net een keer met hulle kon praat. Dit is met groot opgewondenheid dat ek u meedeel dat my dogter ‘n tweeling (dogtertjies) in Januarie verwag. Sjoe, dan besef ‘n mens die waarde van ‘n sinvolle, liefdevolle verhoud- ing. Daarom is die onderwerp oor verhoudings so belangrik vir my. At the end of a term I usually reflect with one question in mind: What could I have done better? Since 80% of my work en- tails conflict management, my mind automatically thinks of various meetings and situations. The foundation for every meeting is the acknowledgement of the relationship that exists. Once that is cemented in the discussion with a huge amount of mutual respect, a sustainable solution will follow. It is general knowledge that if one of the parties in a conflict situation is vindictive and has a vendetta with ulterior motives, the relationship will crumble. As in the previous Tieroog, I want to emphasize the fact that I am willing to address difficult issues and will respect all the roll players in the education environment.

To belong in this closed circle of schools, the school has to consistently provide them with candidates for their prestigious Allan Gray Bursary Fellowship which is a gruelling process. At the conference awards function, The Settlers was awarded a trophy recognising us as the top school in South Africa, producing the most AGOF Fellowships since its inception 11 years ago. This is an achievement to be proud of. I wish to thank AGOF Fellows from The Settlers and our teachers for living the ethos of the school and making this prestigious accolade possible. Next year we will be one of the first co-ed placement schools (meaning some Allan Gray scholarship learners will be placed at our school instead of the traditional single sex schools they normally opt for). The reason for this according to the AGOF is that we must be doing something right here at The Settlers, to have produced so many excellent candidates and fellows. The schools response to Gender Based Violence and Stop The Violence campaign was noble, but not a solution. Our actions must not stop after a special assembly, making a cross on the field, wearing a purple ribbon and taking a pledge to denounce violence, it needs to continue into the future beyond this term.

As usual, it has been very busy, full of a variety of cultural and sporting activities. We would like to thank the learners for their positive attitudes, dedication and hard work. Thank you also to the parents. It is very reassuring to know that we have your unwavering support. On the academic front, the learners continue to impress us with their drive to perform. STAFF MATTERS We have to greet one of our educators, Mrs Anette Rossouw. She has worked tirelessly with her Mathematics learners and was always busy with extra lessons and support. We appreciate the time and effort she has put in. We know that our Matrics are well prepared for their coming exams. Owing to her excellent organisational skills, the Mr and Ms Curro pageant was a great success. Our best wishes accompany her. Ms Kathie Viljoen will be celebrating her birthday on 6 July. May God bless her. We appreciate the excellent work she does. ACADEMICS Mathematics The University of Cape Town’s Mathematics competition is a yearly competition for high schools in the Western Cape where more than 7000 learners participate. We entered 71 learners. The following learners were Gold Award winners: Adri Wessels (overall first place in Grade 10) and Ralph McDougall (overall first place in Grade 11). Curro Durbanville came 16th in the competition. The following learners received merit certificates: GRADE INDIVIDUALS 8 Nell Ackermann, Emma Beckley, Timothy Grant and Alexander Rall 9 Jessica Visagie and Michael Woods 10 Peter Kastoor 11 Tristan Corbellari, Gracious Izaks, Keuran Kirsten and Jina Park 12 Jason Fourie and Michelle Versfeld Ralph is not only taking part in the International Olympiad of Informatics, but he and Adri are also part of the South African International Mathematics Olympiad team which will consist of 6 learners.
