WELCOME TO THE SNOW POLO ST. MORITZ TOUCH Allegra and welcome back to the unique natural arena that is the frozen Lake St. Moritz! Here, the majestically beautiful nature of the Engadine has shown us that regardless of where we come from, we all share the basic human instinct and desire to bond with others. For all the exciting changes that technology has brought us, what remains unchanged is that we are all wired to connect. Bringing people together from all four corners of the world is what we have been doing year after year, since 1985! Beyond being a celebration of the sport of polo at its best, the Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz is indeed a celebration of friendship and cross-cultural exchange. A passion for hospitality and a strong desire to connect with our guests is ingrained in our team of over 100 professionals and volunteers that make this event happen. We very much hope that the moments we share together in this fantastic natural paradise – indulging in watching the superb polo as much as the social events off the field – will remind us in the best possible way that we all are not scripted, not programmed, but simply human. -
Sydney Wins Bid to Host 2017 World Polo Championship
Stuart Ayres Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Minister for Sport Friday, 11 December 2015 SYDNEY WINS BID TO HOST 2017 WORLD POLO CHAMPIONSHIP The NSW Government, in partnership with the Sydney Polo Club, will host the 2017 World Polo Championship, a tournament that will see the world’s eight best nations compete for the world title in Sydney’s Hawkesbury region. Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events and Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres said the victory was confirmed overnight by the Federation of International Polo (FIP) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. “The World Polo Championship is the sport’s most prestigious event and I’m thrilled Sydney has been chosen by the FIP as the host of the 2017 event. This is yet another major sporting event secured exclusively for our State by Destination NSW,” Mr Ayres said. “Polo is a popular sport in Australia, with 50 clubs and associations around the country; half of those in NSW. The NSW Polo Association is the oldest in the country, formed in 1892.” Member for Hawkesbury Dominic Perrottet said the event delivers part of the NSW Government’s election commitment to grow tourism in the Hawkesbury region. “It’s a great win for Hawkesbury, with more than 5,000 domestic and international visitors expected to spend $3.3 million,” Mr Perrottet said. “The World Championships will give this historic sport a great boost locally, and see our polo fields broadcast around the world.” The tournament will consist of eight teams – the winner of each geographic region and Australia, the host nation. -

Buenos Aires: a Creative City?
Buenos Aires: A Creative City? November 2016 Prepared by the Creative Class Group Forward from Richard Florida Buenos Aires has been through a lot of transformations in its history. It started as a colonial outpost in a rural hinterland and grew into the industrial, financial, and commercial capital of a nation. Now, as Argentina enters a new period of stability, prosperity, and growth, it is shaping up as a leader in the post-industrial creative economy. Like every big city, Buenos Aires faces vexing challenges, among them poverty and brain drain. Fortunately, it has an incredible set of assets in its great universities, a government that is prepared to make the investments in quality of place that it needs—and most importantly of all, a diverse, dynamic, and highly-creative citizenry. If any global city is well-positioned to make the most of an Art Basel Cities, it is Buenos Aires. 2 Executive Summary Simply put, how well does Buenos Aires measure up as a global creative hub? What are its strengths and weaknesses according to the Creative Class Group’s proprietary metrics for urban creativity? How can the city use Art Basel to help cement its status as an emerging creative hub while bolstering its on-going place-making efforts? In the report that follows, we address these questions and offer our key findings and recommendations. Buenos Aires’ Creative Assets and Industries Key findings: • Buenos Aires has 142,213 jobs in creative industries (design, technology, audio-visual, and arts and culture) and creative employment is growing at a faster rate than overall employment for the city. -
