Dear Taxi Dave, I am a medallion owner cab driver. On 10/15/2015 at 1:35 AM, I was waiting for a passenger in front of the Marriott hotel located on East 49th Street and Lexington Avenue. TLC enforcement was working in front of that hotel and one enforcement agent came to me and told me to move my car because they were working there. Then I moved my car by turning the right Columnists indicator light, checking my mirrors, turning around and fi nally pulling out slowly. I didn’t even drive one Matthew Daus, Esq. block, when police offi cer Anthony Coyne pulled me Tony Falese over at east 48th Street and Lexington Avenue. Offi cer Coyne issued me a bogus summons for an “unsafe lane Larry Fisher change” (AAY3259351). This is the same unwarranted summons he has written to thousands of other taxi Ira Goldstein, Esq. drivers over the past few years just to fi ll his personal Bob Mackle, Esq. yellow taxi quota. Coyne is the worst example of a NYC cop by wasting NYC taxpayer money and lying Abe Mittleman on theses summonses. Yet he continues to write phony summonses and remains unpunished for his purgery . It Alan Plafker was impossible for me to make an “unsafe lane change” the way I pulled out and especially in front of TLC Michael Spevack, Esq. enforcement. The most interesting matter and proof of his corrupt actions, is that Coyne the liar, issued me three summonses at same location on 01/17/2013 for Layout & Graphics “unsafe lane change” (AAT7406361), “fail to signal lane change” (AAT7406372) and “fail to present docu- Dragonfl y Graphics LLC ments” (AAT7406383). Think about this: 2 years and 9 months prior to this summons Coyne issued me the same summons at 1:40AM as compared to 1:35AM Taxi Insider this time at the same exact location! In January of 2013 police offi cer Coyne aggressively 14 Alexander Drive was pulling over 2 or 3 yellow cabs with his fl ash light at late nights (slow nights) and issued these three summonses to all drivers for no reason. He is a disgrace Washingtonville, NY 10992 to the NYPD uniform, a disgrace to NYC and a disgrace to humanity. This police offi cer defi nitely has some kind of psychological issues with the yellow cab drivers. He has taken distinct pleasure issuing bogus Phone: (718) 706-TAXI(8294) tickets to yellow cab drivers circulating within a certain area of midtown ranging from 57th street to 32nd — street and from 1st Avenue to Lexington Avenue. We are professional taxi drivers and work all over the city. We never receive these types of summonses anywhere except in Coyne’s17th precinct zone. Do we drive E-mail:[email protected] safely all over the city but forget safe driving after entering the 17th precinct zone? Police offi cer Anthony Coyne needs a refresher course in three words: “courtesy”, “professionalism” and “respect” that are printed on each police vehicle. If NYC properly investigates all the complaints made against police offi cer Anthony Coyne, badge # 929953, the truth of his abuse of power will be revealed. Copyright © 2015 by TAXI INSIDER. Taxis are regulated by the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission. DOT does regulate taxi relief stands Taxi relief stands allow drivers to park their vehicles for up to one hour. This affords drivers the opportunity to leave their vehicles and take care of personal needs. Taxi relief stands should not be confused with taxi stands, which are locations where drivers can wait, in their cars, to pick up passengers. crashed into Terminal 5. A photo from the scene shows a black people carrier smashed into the glass at the side of the building, hav- ing careered through metal railings. No official cause has been given for the crash so far, although onlook- ers said that the driver had a heart attack behind the wheel. Heathrow Airport confirmed that here had been a “road incident” and that one lane had been closed off to traffic. The incident comes as commut- ers faced travel misery this morning as several flights were delayed or cancelled as thick fog continued to descend on the capital. The airport confirmed the weather warning, tweeting: “Following yes- terday’s heavy fog, the Met Office has issued another fog warning for today, which may cause some disruption.” Delays are expected to continue throughout the day, with some pas- sengers experiencing waiting times of up to several hours. The Taxi Attorney (Continued from Page 7) this time of year. Watch out also for failure to yield to pedestrian tickets, which carry three points. White tickets written by traffi c enforcement agents/ parking ticket agents do NOT carry points but can be expensive this is so for blocking the box tickets, horn noise etc. Only honk the horn in case of danger. (If you get a yellow ticket for any of these violations, they carry points.) Moreover, there is a tendency to speed once traffi c clears up espe- cially on avenues and highways – be careful. The NYPD has highway traf- fi c agents ready to hand out a costly speeding ticket to cabbies on these roads.
