Kokedama is the Japanese art of growing a plant in an artistic way without using a pot. Students will prepare the roots of a shade-loving plant, form a ball of soil around them, and then cover the earthen ball with moss. The finished kokedama can be displayed on a decorative tray or tile, or suspended from a string.

But if you have been wondering what those letters and symbols on the Dial mean then this course is for you. I use a Canon SLR digital camera, but would welcome any make as long as you bring your booklet that came with the camera. Many point and shoot cameras have these letters and symbols as well. If you have additional lens for your camera please bring them. There will be an information presentation each session, as well as ample time to work with your camera and practice what I have presented. Ages: At least 8 but less than 18 Have you ever wanted to try your hand at wheel thrown pottery? Now is your chance! Come spend 45 minutes with Mackenzie and learn some beginning wheel thrown pottery skills. Students will learn the basic wheel throwing techniques and explore beginning shape formation methods.This is a studio class. There will be no take-home project.

Ages: At least 10 but less than 17 Create realistic model ships by cutting and carving pre-drawn sheets of balsa wood with X-acto knives and assembling them in layers. Then paint your models to create your own unique model ship. Or, if you would prefer, assemble pre-designed templates of historical ships.
