Nous vous réservons néanmoins quelques « scoops visuels », à l’instar de ces rarissimes clichés de tenues Leibermuster présentés dans nos colonnes ! 1 Nachtjäger, les « Vampir » du Reich ! La Seconde Guerre mondiale, conflit qui a vu les différentes nations belligérantes accomplir des progrès remarquables dans le domaine de la technologie militaire, reste surtout associée à la bombe atomique, aux avions à réaction, aux fusées balistiques ou aux radars. Ces innovations concernent principalement la troisième dimension. Mais l’on oublie bien souvent que des avancées tout aussi spectaculaires ont vu le jour au sein de diverses armées de terre. C’est ainsi que plusieurs puissances se sont intéressées à la technologie infrarouge, seul le III. Reich ayant sérieusement étudié la possibilité de munir ses chars de moyens de détection autorisant le combat de nuit. Dans ce domaine, au fil des mois, les ingénieurs et penseurs militaires allemands vont mettre au point un système d’armes complet et ultramoderne. Et, de fait, les Panzer parviendront à remporter des succès locaux prometteurs contre les Alliés durant les derniers mois de la guerre. Comme bien souvent, l’aversion des hauts responsables de la Wehrmacht pour les nouvelles technologies et les incessants raids aériens anglo-américains sur les usines allemandes n’ont permis que l’introduction tardive et à une échelle négligeable de ces équipements précurseurs de ceux des armées d’aujourd’hui. -

(September 2010) Donate to Wikipedia [2] SS-Totenkopfverbände (SS-TV), rendered in English as "Death's-Head Units" (literally SS-TV meaning "Skull Units"), was the SS organization responsible for administering the Nazi SS-Totenkopfverbände Interaction concentration camps for the Third Reich. Help The SS-TV was an independent unit within the SS with its own ranks and command About Wikipedia structure. It ran the camps throughout Germany, such as Dachau, Bergen-Belsen and Community portal Buchenwald; in Nazi-occupied Europe, it ran Auschwitz in German occupied Poland and Recent changes Mauthausen in Austria as well as numerous other concentration and death camps. The Contact Wikipedia death camps' primary function was genocide and included Treblinka, Bełżec extermination camp and Sobibor. The dominant socio-political events of 2020-2021—the COVID-19 pandemic, the widespread BLM protests and counter-protests, and the presidential election—coalesced to create fertile ground for white supremacists and other violent extremist movements to mobilize and recruit. In 2020, racism and systemic racial inequality took center stage in the American public eye, with nationwide mass protests against recent police killings of Black people and historic evidence of racial injustice.1 -

REINECKERS GESCHICHTE Der 1914 geborene und vor vier Jahren verstorbene Herbert Reinecker war einer der einflussreichsten deutschen Schriftsteller des 20. Jahr- hunderts. Als Autor erfolgreicher Kriminalserien wie Der Kommissar und Derrick prägte er nicht nur maßgeblich das bundesrepublikani- sche Unterhaltungsfernsehen. Seine Geschichten halten auch Indizien für die Verarbeitungsprozesse parat, die eine durch den National- sozialismus entscheidend geprägte Generation leistete. Bis 1939 war Herbert Reinecker für Propagandaschriften der Reichsjugend- führung verantwortlich, in den 1940er Jahren verfasst er dann als Kriegsberichterstatter der Waffen-SS Feuilletons. Parallel dazu reüs- sierte Reinecker als Drehbuchautor beim Film und machte eine beachtliche Karriere als Nachwuchsdramatiker. Sein »Gegenwarts- drama« und nationalsozialistisches Musterschauspiel Das Dorf bei Odessa wurde ab 1942 zum Massenerfolg. Nach Kriegsende wusste Reinecker die eigene Profession und Verantwortung durch Pseudo- nyme im Dunkel zu halten. Erfahrene Medienkollegen eröffneten ihm ab 1950 bei Hörspiel und Kurzfilm Chancen, die Reinecker zu nutzen wusste. Spätestens seit seinen Spielfilmstoffen Canaris (1954) und Kinder, Mütter und ein General (1955) setzten die Versu- che ein, die Zeit des Nationalsozialismus und damit auch die eigene Biografie ins rechte Licht zu setzen. Rolf Aurich, Niels Beckenbach und Wolfgang Jacobsen haben in ihrem Buch Reineckerland die Erzählwelten von Herbert Reinecker untersucht, wiederkehrende Motive und Verarbeitungsmuster entdeckt und produktive Ansätze zu einer Entschlüsselung des Verhältnisses von Zeitgeschichte, persön- licher Biografie und Werkgeschichte gefunden. Die Reihe REINECKERS GESCHICHTE, die den Spuren von Reineckerland folgt und Kino- und Fernseharbeiten aus vier Jahrzehnten vorstellt, offeriert die Chance, Reineckers Geschichtsarbeit nun auch im Kinosaal zu studieren. Central Europe WEST GERMANY Foreign Policy and Reunification HE DEADLOCK over reunification remained complete. Moscow repeated in T numerous notes and through its East German satellites that the East and West German governments should get together and form a confederation, with which a peace treaty might later be concluded. Soviet Deputy Premier Anastas Mikoyan visited Bonn in April 1958 to sign a trade agreement, but had nothing new to offer. The Bonn government, for its part, insisted on free elections for an all-German government and rejected anything implying rec- ogition of the East German regime. Chancellor Konrad Adenauer also severed relations with Yugoslavia in October 1957 when the latter recognized the "Ger- man Democratic Republic." For the time being, the question of reunification was overshadowed by the controversy over atomic arms for the West German army and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces stationed on German soil. George Kennan's suggestion of a disengagement of the great powers from Germany, in his BBC lectures in the autumn of 1957, and Polish Foreign Minister Adam Rapacki's proposal for an atom-free zone in Europe were welcomed by a large part of public opinion as a basis for further discussion. But Chancellor Adenauer rejected the Rapacki plan unconditionally in January 1958. In March 1958 the Bundestag, after a tumultuous debate, em- powered the government to equip the Bundeswehr with tactical atomic weapons. Domestic Political Affairs After his victory in the Bundestag elections of September 1957 (see AMERICAN JEWISH YEAR BOOK, 1957 [Vol. 58], p. 288), Chancellor Adenauer made some minor changes in his cabinet, so that it consisted of fourteen mem- bers of his Christian Democratic Union (CDU-CSU) and two of the small right-wing German Party (DP). -

It is not difficult to see why. Like many aspects of the German war machine, the Luftwaffe was a crowning achievement of the German rearmament programme. During the 1920s and early 1930s, the air force was a shadowy organization, operating furtively under the tight restrictions on military development imposed by the Versailles Treaty. Yet through foreign-based aircraft design agencies, civilian air transport and nationalistic gliding clubs, the seeds of a future air force were nevertheless kept alive and growing in Hitler’s new Germany, and would eventually emerge in the formation of the Luftwaffe itself in 1935. The nascent Luftwaffe thereafter grew rapidly, its ranks of both men and aircraft swelling under the ambition of its commander-in-chief, Hermann Göring.
