To find (with Use Wildcards on) Windows Example Any number of characters * f*t finds fit and feet. Spaces or | bar *any| finds any and many, but not anything Any one character ? f?t finds fit but not feet. The beginning of a line ^ ^f finds any word that begins with f and is at the beginning of a line (this wildcard cannot be combined with the Whole Word option) The end of a line $ dollar sign f$ finds any word that ends with f and is at the end of a line (this wildcard cannot be combined with the Whole Word option) Any one of the listed characters [] enclosed in [cmr]at finds cat, mat, and rat. If whole word is turned off, it also finds catatonic, material, and berate. Any character except the listed [^] enclosed in brackets+ [^cmr]at finds fat, hat, and dat, but not cat, characters preceded by a caret mat, and rat.
