Spaces or punctuation | bar *any| finds any and many, but not anything Any one character ? question mark f?t finds fit but not feet. The beginning of a line ^ caret ^f finds any word that begins with f and is at the beginning of a line (this wildcard cannot be combined with the Whole Word option) The end of a line $ dollar sign f$ finds any word that ends with f and is at the end of a line (this wildcard cannot be combined with the Whole Word option) Any one of the listed characters [] enclosed in brackets [cmr]at finds cat, mat, and rat. If whole word is turned off, it also finds catatonic, material, and berate. Any character except the listed [^] enclosed in brackets+ [^cmr]at finds fat, hat, and dat, but not cat, characters preceded by a caret mat, and rat. Any character from listed character [-] enclosed in brackets+ [b-f]at finds bat, cat, dat, eat, and fat, but not to listed character separated by hyphen hat or rat.
